Another nail in the coffin for Mr Havlin and Ambiente Friendly. Mssrs Gredley are best suited by eating humble pie and getting Mr Shepherd back on board.
They certainly didn't hang about and winning time of 2 mins 28 secs is really motoring. The fastest time of the day by some distance. I think you could see that Los Angleles is a very strong staying type and once Ryan got stuck into him he kept on giving and I would say he is genuine and I could see him going for the Leger or a fast run 12 furlong race anywhere. I thought Ambiente Friendly just tired in the last half furlong and maybe back to 10 or the Judmonte may see him in a better light. It all reflects very positively on City Of Troy who not only looks top class but also looks to have bundles of improvement left in him. I think Coolmore have real strength in depth this year and seem to have all the European grade 1s covered so maybe we will see COT in the states taking on their very best.
This has been the race of the season so far for me. Clearly City of Troy was superior to all 4 with his Epsom performance but seeing the classic form stand up indicates these are genuine quality horses Looking forward to the Eclipse
Havlin looked all at sea in the finish, but does Ambiente really look as though he stays 12 furlongs in a Group 1? Connections should have gone for the Eclipse but that comes too soon now . The juddmonte at York looks a plausible alternative though.
Two furlongs out I thought Ambiente Friendly was going to sweep past the winner, but he was definitely outstayed in the final furlong. It was a difficult one for AF´s connections, hold him up and risk getting stuck behind the O´Brien stragglers (who were all over the place, allowing the winner a perfect run), or track Ryan Moore and try to do him for toe. Personally I think Havlin just got there too early and got into a fight with a horse that stays better. A stiff 10f looks like the best trip for AF and Sandown would have been perfect, I´m not sure the Juddmonte would be the right race.
I thought he would just about win THE Derby but winning the Irish one makes up for it fully expected him to reverse the form and he did it well he touched 20/1 when narrowly headed i didn't think the fav would stay the trip at the Curragh and it looked like he didn't see it fully out

The horse to take out the race for the future, Matsuri ran green as grass, was hanging up the final 2f, awkard ride when asked for maximum effort. Still only beaten in blanket finish in 4th. If he met these horses again on similar terms and distance, i think he would have the beating of them, including Los Angels.

Just so heartwarming to hear The Boss acknowledging everyone on the team. Great leadership skills and most of all it must be a great place to work with the horses and I bet the horses are contented too. Great trainer.
