Fascinating, as ever! Thank you for sharing this. The interviews over the visuals really bring the place to life. Love the additional inserted pics and appreciate too how the photos turn in time with the crasing of the waves! Beautifully produced! 👏👏👏🤗

Great video Peter 👏👏 I always find flat holm fascinating there’s definitely something spooky about the place ,never been but it’s on my to do list . Did hear a rumour the engine room was to be restored would be lovely to have the odd blast for visitors but not holding my breath it must be getting pretty dilapidated by now .

Thank you for that David. Yes it would be great if they did restore the engine room and allowed visitors in there. It seems that everywhere that Keepers were removed, the decay of the property and machinery followed quite quickly. Shame really as it will be harder to bring it back from the dead so to speak. Cheers and take care.

I've been to Flat Holm (and Steep Holm) many times, and went inside the foghorn keepers cottage while it was being turned into holiday lets. Foghorn Station now full of acrow props. When I was a kid, Flat Holm had containerised backup generators outside.
I can see Foreland, Mumbles, and Nash from here. I've been in Nash Point a few times, on the gallery and once had a foghorn blast just for me using left over air from the monthly scheduled blast. Its restricted to one day a month, and can't be let off if it's foggy as its decommissioned. The stonework of Nash is all cantilevered, with huge central conical floor plugs held in by gravity, amazing construction.

Very interesting 👍 I was hoping they would restore the flat holm engine room and have the odd blast for visitors such a shame to leave it to fall down

Thank you very much for all of that information, especially, your memories. Nash seems to be going through a bit of an upheaval at the moment as it has been taken off of the Trinity House Visitor Centres group. So not sure why or what for as it was being run properly complete with engine room visits and Weddings being hosted there I believe? If anybody can enlighten me/us on that, then please feel free. Cheers Mate and stay safe.

I miss the Breaksea light float too. I used to see it flashing on the way to school on dark winter mornings and occasionally being refuelled by ship.

I don't think I've seen that one, once again, once its gone, it's normally gone forever. Cheers Mate, take care.

I’ve seen that metal hand on an old safe years ago. I wonder if the same company made them?

That's a point, perhaps somebody out there can enlighten us? Cheers and take care.

@@PeterHalil that’d be good. I’ve looked online and found safes with the hand, but no info on them. Maybe it was a style used in metalwork rather than a specific product. Did you say all lighthouses had them in the past?

@@StarWarsJay Hi, not sure if all had them, but certainly lots that I visited, did. It seemed pretty standard. Take care and thanks mate.
