- Breast cancer can be really scary, especially when your oncologist rattles off a list of treatments and side effects. I can’t think of anyone better to help me explain what they are and why you have them than Dr Eleonora Teplinsky. She’s the Head of Breast and Gynecologic Medical Oncology at Valley Health System and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She dedicates her free time to creating videos on TH-cam and Instagram to explain breast cancer treatment and I’m a huge fan.
In this episode we get quite technical about treatments, so if you’re very newly diagnosed you might first want to listen to my interview with Rachel Clifton about chemotherapy from Season 2 which you can find HERE (podcasts.apple...)

Thank you so much. I was diagnosed 11 years ago with stage 4 her+ withe extensive mets. My oncologist is a great support but I don’t want to take up her time, this session has answered questions I didn’t known I had.
Thanks Dr Liz. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in May. I’m an analytical person and did a deep dive into understanding her cancer. To the point where it probably wasn’t to healthy mentally for me, gave me some anxiety of losing her. Her cancer was 1.5 cm IDC grade 1 RH breast with 1 node macro positive. Her ONKO score was 17 and she’s post menopausal at 57 years old. No chemo was given but she had 21 rounds of radiation with 5 of those being booster. I even called the radiation physicist and got her heart gray radiation exposure. She did the breathing technique and it was .67 grays. She’ll be on 20mg tamoxifen for 5 years. She’s having some nausea, joint pain brain fog. She’ll give it another month before switching to another drug. The Predict program says she has a 91 % chance of being alive in 15 years. Interestingly when taking out the 5 year hormone therapy and radiation Predict shows a 90% chance of being alive in 15 years. I want to ask her oncologist if she uses the program Predict and what her opinion is on it. Thanks for doing what you do, I hope and pray the best for you.
Can someone please someday in some way address the different ways lobular bc presents, spreads, and thus might be treated IN SPECIFIC ways!
Thank you for all this very valuable information!! ⭐️ 🌸
I said RH but I meant it was in her LH breast, hence the breathing technique to reduce her heart to radiation exposure.
