      Thank you for your video. I do love the Amish for lots of things. They make quality furniture like back in the day. I live in Ohio so we have seen all types of sheds & other items they make. I do not think we have seen food items however. I have to be on the lookout for that now.

    I love shopping at every Amish store that i come across in our travels. My favorite one that i have found is in Kentucky. All i can say is bring lots of money. The bakery and deli are amazing. The bulk food section is so much fun. Every time we drive through coming home from our sons, we have to stop and fill our truck and trailer up full of goodies.

    Cassandra I enjoy your channel so much and this episode makes me homesick for the Amish markets I used to have nearby in Missouri. I agree, there is nothing comparable!!

    I can't tell you how excited I was to see this video. I love going to our Amish market. There are so many items that I can get there that I cannot get anywhere else. I always get our honey, bulk dried goods, and fun yummies from our store. Love it!!!

      Yes, Becky! I feel the same way! It’s hard not to go to crazy when I visit! It’s an experience in itself just taking in the bygone layout, options you won’t find anywhere else and quality. So pleased to know I have a fellow Amish market enthusiast!

    I think I must live in the same area as you based on the Amish market labels you showed. I love the Amish market but I Mostly only go for prepared foods like their amazing fried chicken, the even more amazing and tremendously decadent beef-filled pretzel rolls, gorgeous fresh donuts, their various cold salads etc. I have learned, however, that most of their practices are not organic so I don't generally get a ton of raw ingredients there as the prices are like organic prices.

    I get most of my baking supplies, spices and maple syrup at my local Mennonite bulk food store.

    Today I went to a Mennonite store for the first time ever. I happened to see it on a road trip. It was a very small store but I managed to easily spend $45 because everything looked fantastic. I will look for some of the things you pointed out in your video to see if they have them there when I head that route in the future. I was so overwhelmed with all the items and packages in there that I could not take it all in. Your video will help me to know what to look for next time.

    We don't live close to an Amish market anymore, but when we did we would go there for all the breads, and cheese curds, and whole nutmeg (spices in general were just a much better price there and more fresh). One other thing that we would get at our Amish store were fresh egg noodles. So good!

    • @BecomingaFarmGirl
      @BecomingaFarmGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The breads are dangerously delicious! I agree with you on the bulk spices (and unfortunately the mulled spices and 3 other ones I filmed had loading errors). The freshness can’t be beat. So good to see you, Alicia!

      Amish markets are certainly nostalgic and just make me feel good about my money going directly to a family/community business.I make a quarterly trip-so I’ll keep sharing my finds!

    I love your channel! I just got back from visiting my daughter in Philly (I'm in NW Indiana almost Chicago). Our nearest Amish stores are hours away so I made sure to stop at a couple of Amish markets on my way home. It's funny because my shopping list was all bulk items mostly for canning and freezing. My list was things like bulk pectin, clear gel, Therm flo and dried buttermilk.

      No problem! The Amish market offers options and quality that the big box chains don’t. I don’t get a chance to go often but when I do I’m always impressed with the quality and care! I hope you find some goodies on your next trip!

    Im in Georgia and there’s no Amish stores near me. I love seeing the things you where able to get. You can pop kernels in the microwave. I have a silicone bowl for it but you can use a glass one.
    I love the rebranding of your channel and enjoyed this video!

    • @BecomingaFarmGirl
      @BecomingaFarmGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello again, friend! Thanks for sharing the microwave tip! I’ll have to try that. Yes, Amish stores are definitely a perk of living in the MD/PA region. You’ve been with my channel since it’s beginning so I value your feedback and encouragement about the changes I’ve made. I’m figuring things out as I go! Take good care!

    We just got our first Amish market in my state, but it’s a 6 hour drive. Oh I do love good cheese. Everything looks amazing!

      @BecomingaFarmGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Sharen! Yikes, a 6 hour drive!! The cheese purchase were definitely splurges but since I go so infrequently (this year I’ve only made it out twice) and it’s about 30 minutes away I try to get things I can’t find in the markets near me.

      Thank you! Having access to an Amish market is a perk of living in MD and close to PA, but you are right they’re not in most places. I just wanted to share the quality finds I get when I visit every few month. Thanks for stopping by the channel!

    There was only 3 items of all you showed that I can eat. The rice flour, chicken rub, if there is no garlic. And the marshmallows if they are not made with corn syrup. As I am allergic to gluten and dairy and garlic, corn syrup, oranges, fermented items. We dont have amish stores that I have ever heard of in oregon.

    • @BecomingaFarmGirl
      @BecomingaFarmGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again, Lori! Oh, I’m sorry friend! While Amish seasonal produce (which I didn’t get this haul) is excellent quality, the meat and pantry items aren’t typically made for folks with food sensitivities or restrictions. I appreciate you watching just the same. I typically visit this market maybe 4-5 times a year just to haul some meats and sweets. And, you are correct, Amish/Mennonite stores aren’t easily found and more so in the east coast.

      @@BecomingaFarmGirl thank you. I'm use to it. Been gf for 7 1/2 years and df for 6 years. So I have learned to make recipes and canning etc. Using what I can have. Sort of a challenge sometimes trying to find substitutes. But it's worth it not feeling so bad as I did for most of my life till I was 54. Am so glad i figured it out finally. No thanks to my doctors.
