Fun part is after I setup the guitars and take them for a riff run.

There's no shortage of articulate shredder pickups, but most of them don't sound that good. I've tested many of them including a lot of DiMarzios, EMG, etc. I think the Full Shred is the best all-around high precision pickup for both tone quality and performance. I find that the players who have a hard time with it tend to go for muddier pickups that cover up their errors anyway. I don't mean to be pretentious here (yes, I've been shredding since the 80s), but players who don't do their homework have a tendency to paste over it with noise. But if you play with focus a pickup like the Full Shred delivers. Another great thing about the FS is that it helps clean up a muddy amp. No, it's not going to make a muddy amp sound great, but it can help you get a more focused tone. Through a quality amp with solid playing you are going to sound great. If I had to put a pickup in a Stradivarius this would be it. You're not going to get that Shrapnel Records circa 1987 thin DiMarzio tone with the Full Shred because there's solid tone behind every note. It's basically a Custom 5 with hex poles. It's got a bit of PAF going but it's lower output than a JB or Distortion, and thus it has better clarity than either. It also gives you a wider range of gain that you can use. I'm not surprised that this pickup, which hit the market during the heyday of shred, when I was playing the Sunset Strip, has become a favorite of prog and extreme metal. Because there's no better pickup for all around clarity with all levels of gain from light to extreme. Good parellel and coil split tones as well.

Most of these old jacksons have the kahler trems. I personally have a love hate relationship with them🤣🤟

Sounded like you were playing some Vio-Lence. If you’re going to pick fast , get a Jackson.
