  • We are nearly through the severely cold weather and the animals are doing well. They have constant access to high quality hay, free choice mineral and access to fresh water at all times. The dogs love the cold weather. They can take the cold better than the really hot days in the summer and seem to be very happy during the cold.
The general contractor had a temporary furnace installed in the house so that work on the mechanicals can start. Unfortunately, the furnace has an issue and hasn't worked so they have to come out to get it going. In the meantime, the contractor has a kerosene heater going to take the severe chill off the air.
The goats are due in 6 weeks. We will update their Clostridium perfringens and tetanus vaccines on Monday as well as give them their 2nd dose of Ivermectin to finish the lice/mange treatment. We will have to complete the gates and get them assembled in the barn as we plan to move the does up on the 15th of February, 2 weeks prior to delivery to give them a chance to settle in to their new environment.
Thank you for joining us at Norwal Farm.

Looks beautiful today and the house is really coming along now too. Good luck with the hay. Getting good feed is so difficult 🤞

Thanks Lynn. I should be able to get some good hay today. The sheep are doing well, Kracker and Lamborghini have adjusted very well! Hopefully we will be in the house by December of this year!

The sheep look quite content in their lot. Looks as though plenty of snow found you!😂 I always admire the views out of your large windows. You guys picked a beautiful spot to build your home! The bullet heater brought back memories of being in the milking parlor on a cold, snowy morning. I could almost smell the kerosene or coal oil as my grandpa called it. Those heaters really do put off the heat, but the noise leaves a lot to be desired.😩😂 I hope the hay auction was a success!! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!!!🙏❤

Thanks Cindy, we had a bullet heater in our farrowing house (hog barn) and it was my job as a kid to keep it filled so the baby pigs would stay warm. We were successful at the hay auction and able to get 20 large bales of excellent 3rd cut alfalfa . It tested at 28% protein!! It will be great for late pregnancy and lactation for the ewes and does.

I watch ewetopia farms and started watching you after you were on there. Glad to see the progress you've made. The rams seem to like it there.

Welcome to our channel and thanks for joining us! Yes, the rams have adjusted well and are always wanting a scratch on the chin :) We are looking forward to their first lambs!
