Getting a procedure done today that’s going to finally put an end to a nightmare that’s been enduring for all 37 years of my life. Immediately gravitated toward this, hardly even thinking about it. I’ve loved this song since 2001, when the album was released. It finally resonates in a way that is completely personal and uniquely my own.
My animations are "Organically Derived". In that these are not generated by software, but by a video feedback loop: An electronic version of two mirrors facing each other, but with each iteration building upon the last. Meta-Patterns that exist in nature are present and recognizable, but not on a conscious level. Oil on water in a parking lot puddle, a flame and even simple biological elements will emerge in some fashion. To autistic types like myself these can be deeply meaningful and anything sufficiently profound.. Will also be a little scary, even if you can't articulate why.

The video feedback system I use to generate the animations can give them fluidic properties, including surface tension. This is why it sometimes looks like cells are moving around in my effects.

I appreciate your efforts in making this video and I thank you. Would you happen to know happened to the other Tool videos with the cool artwork that used to be posted on YT? I imagine on vinyl the transition is seamless. Digital versions break the transition and that sucks because the transition and the drop into Parabola is what makes it great. (Plus the rest of Parabola). I had to splice my digital copies together to get the seamless transition.
Tool has done a very bad job of managing their intellectual property online. The catalog wasn't even in the content ID system until 9 months ago. There's a cottage industry of people pretending to represent the band when they strike your video. this video and fear inoculum were hit with strikes. I won, most others didn't. The strike bots took out most of tool videos on TH-cam.
With recent changes to mid-roll ads on TH-cam, an ad may be placed at the 4 minute mark. I have zero control over this as this is decided by the copyright holder. 😒

I couldn't tell you, but there are scientists who believe that the video feedback effect (how I generate my animations) is an analog for consciousness. In that, they are both generated by a cyclical feedback loop. It really shouldn't be a surprise that an animation generated by a similar system to the one that generates consciousness.. Would be particularly meaningful to some people. 😁
My understanding of psychedelics is that they inhibit your ability to properly construct your experience of reality and your ability to place what you're experiencing into a rational narrative. These are critical functions for humans, but they also narrow what we are capable of experiencing. Essentially, you get to know what it feels like to understand the grandeur of existence, but you don't gain any actual knowledge, except.. possibly, about yourself. =)
