The landlord is responsible for having the rental property ready by the agreed-upon move-in date. If they fail to have the property ready, they can't keep the security deposit, claiming it was used for readying for the apartment. The landlord should be financially prepared to handle any pre-move-in repairs themselves.
To start (at least in MA), a landlord is required to put the security deposit into an interest bearing account. Definitely not to be used for renovations BEFORE the tenant moves in. Secondly, the defendant couldn't keep his lies straight. First, he "forgot" he had a contract to rent to her because he had no contact with her for so long. But for his countersuit, not having the place occupied July/August and worrying about her filing a lawsuit caused him depression to the extent he had to take "some pills." He also stated the apartment wasn't move in ready until August 1st(which was another lie), so how would he ever be entitled to July rent? This was like watching an 8yr old child lying while being grilled about something they did wrong.🥴

I don't feel comfortable giving that much money up front until I sign the lease and to hold the apartment should of been under $500.00. If, you have someone's money contacted them won't be a problem at all.
