  • SO you want a 80 metre vertical and would like it to work on 40 Metres as well, and I needs to be just 10 Metres tall. Simple.
    Build a DX Commander for 80/40 metre band with one element.
    Many thanks for watching.
    I do hope you enjoy it and subscribe for more..
    Many thanks

    Give a little, take a little...
    Antenna's are just like guns, cars and your mate for life, everything's a compromise.
    Really enjoy your testing and attention to the detail.

    This is very interesting. Thank you Mike.
    It would appear, prima facie, that even a sanatorium inmate such as myself could indeed build this antenna.
    This dual band single element antenna would be great for parks activation where most of the contacts are on 80m and 40m.
    Well done. Congratulations. Thanks :-)

    Nice experiment. Thanks for sharing. I was surprised how accurate your "formula" was for determining the base coil and trap.

    Hello Mike, Thanks for sharing this experiment. It's very interesting and promising. All i need now is a DX-Commander antenna :-). Greetings 73's, PD0ONE

    Hi Mike great job on the antenna and picking the bands I would use but I the C.W part of the bands so may be it’s just more L on each coil ?
    Thank you for another interesting project!!

    Nice one Mike. However, did the swr lower on 40 when you picked up the analyser? If so I’m thinking common mode?

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Precisely Tim, I was sitting over a ground radial, so lifting the analyser stop the coupling.

    very good antenna , excellent swr 80M. how much swr 3.780 mhz ? and how do you pull swr down 40m ? littlebit 1.2 ?, Build 40M. coil with RG58 ?

      Simply trim and play, this example was close enough for me, but you can spend more time making it better.

    Nice video. I do have one question though, by doing this and getting both 80M and 40M on one wire, do you still retain the ability to have 15M, which normally is a 5/8th of the 40M wire?

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no you loose 15M. :(

    hi mike I built your 40 and 80 m vertical antenna and the coils are precise as you made them but the antenna resonates at 3550mhz and 6500 mhz how can I do it do I have to shorten both the cable to 5.30m and 3.80m? hi thanks and congratulations Claudio Ferro iz5axd.

      You could remove 1 or 2 turns from the coil and test, good luck. :)

    Very interesting, was the DX Commander you were comparing it to Inverted L or Base loaded coil without the trap? Obviously putting traps and coils in compromises the Antenna to some extent, Once again any Antenna is better than NO Antenna :-) Between this new One, simple base loaded and Inverted L which One do you think is least compromised? Obviously the benefit of this One if 40 and 80 without going out in the rain to swap it around :-)

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, It was a inverted L. the inverted L is much better

    • @chrisbartlett6022
      @chrisbartlett6022 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mike-M0MSN Thought it was probably the inverted L you were comparing it to. Just shows you don't get anything for nothing, Great experiment though.

    What about the large losses by using base loading .better still move the base coil 2mtrs above ground to minimise ground losses by inductive coupling into nthe ground. Try that one on the Antenna reflector,or read the late Bill Orr`s views and W4RNL,investigations into loading coils.lifes a bitch.
