    Why no torque spec on the drain and fill plugs?

    Nice video. A drain and fill only gets about a 1/3 of the diff fluid since a lot of fluid is in the piping and diff fluid radiator. The 1LE is a great track car

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1/3? That isn’t accurate. The capacity of the entire system with the additional coolers on the eLSD is under 2 qts. Where did you get that info, and what are your suggestions to swap the rest that is leftover?

    Thanks for clarifying which gear oil to use (10-4034).
    The 2023 owners manual says "See your dealer" and my local dealership seems a bit confused on this subject.

      Your dealership being confused doesn’t surprise me at all. There are some REALLY good dealers out there, and then, well, there are some that shouldn’t be allowed to service a bicycle.

    Great video! I have a 2SS 1LE on order that I'm expecting to come in in June or July, so I've been trying to study up on the proper maintenance. This video was very clear and concise, and I will definitely refer back to it when it comes time to change my diff fluid.

    How often it should be done ? My car has never been tracked or abuse but it hit 50k miles 2017 ,some people say every 40-60k miles but not sure ..
    great video btw💯

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The diff fluid should be changed every 45,000 miles if not driven competitively. Otherwise, you should change it every 24 hours of track use or competitive driving.

    Is there an extra additive that supposed to be added in when this is done? The capacities and specifications says ELSD uses 5.4 ounces of lubricant. It appears to be on top of the regular fluid.

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The proper fluid from AC Delco has the fluid already mixed in, at the proper ratio. Use the link in the description and no additional friction modifier is needed.

  • @killroy2993

    So why did the car change color? It started blue, then he crawls out from a red one‽

  • @artagain8977
    @artagain8977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Did this car have high mileage? The fluid looked quite clean. What is the point of changing the fluid if it doesn’t have high mileage?

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I’ll add this to the description too. Per the GM Competitive Driving guidelines, the differential fluid should be changed after 24 hours of accumulated track use. There were some metal shavings on the magnets of the drain plugs (which is normal) but going strictly by color of the fluid is not recommended. If you put the car through track use, you really should keep a log book of hours on track so that you keep the engine, transmission and differential happy. Speaking of, the engine oil should be changed after 4 hours of track use, and the transmission fluid should be changed after 15 hours of track use.

    Does just draining the dif also drain the cooler and lines?

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you’ll never evacuate the system completely dry. It’s no different than an engine oil change. You won’t get all the oil completely out of the engine oil coolers and lines either.

    The differential has cooling lines that run to it. What about that?

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point! There isn’t a great way to get ALL of the fluid out that lays in the cooling lines. The best recommendation I can make is to drain the fluid while the diff is still slightly warm, and the hotter fluid will flow easier and create a slight vacuum to pull some of that fluid out. The good news is that the diff has a magnetic drain plug, so most of the crud sticks to the drain plug and doesn’t get into the lines.

    • @FollowMyLine17
      @FollowMyLine17  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend using the OEM AC Delco fluid. It has the correct amount of friction modifier already added. You will need two bottles. The bottle design has changed recently so the shipped bottle will look different from the picture. Can be purchased here: amzn.to/3yxsOqi
