One of the founders of Portos just died, and I'm hearing his illness and death were part of it...and there are factions within the leadership that killed the contract.
@cthulhu5101 That was only part of the issue. Some within the leadership didn't mind making an exception for that location because the revenue would be great and they wouldn't have problems with staff wanting to work. The issue was, in part, the man who died ( one of the founders) was a big voice in it. Within illness and death, and business operations as a result, they killed it because the power I the leadership shifted. There was a lot turmoil in that contract, especially since there's another Portos right near by.
Today is the last day for Hyperspace. Tomorrow it should be back to regular Space Mountain. It’s possible they just aren’t showing regular Space until tomorrow.
Wow, back at Disneyland already! Thanks for the update, this is our travel month! Coming in from CO, to celebrate my kiddo’s 8th birthday, and we’ll be there in the first few days of the Redwood trail reopening- yay!!!
Yes! I was going to take a week off while I edit and work on the WDW videos, but then this news dropped about the rest of Critter Country closing, so I went up as soon as I could. Reservations were completely gone for Wednesday and Thursday as Imagine Key holders had their last few days in the parks until August. But we got up there yesterday.
@@SoCalDisneyDad - appreciate the quick posting with the construction updates! I haven’t said anything about Critter Country to my 7-yr old, and she’s not familiar with Disneyland, so hopefully we can avoid any disappointment from her on that. Hey! Big fan of your videos. We are taking our son in September to Disneyland and CA Adventure for three days. 2 days of Disney and one for CA adventure. He will be 10 months old. What rides do you think would be best for him?
Here’s a video I did about rides that babies and toddlers can ride: All 30 Disneyland Rides SAFE for Babies, Toddlers, and Pregnant Women th-cam.com/video/tr0Ghwf9V5U/w-d-xo.html The “best” ones are going to be it’s a small world, Dumbo, and anything really that’s gentle and engaging for kids. Love to see updates. I really want to try to visit this year. Not sure if it's in the cards. If I did, it would be Nov or December. I know I'm coming next May. I really like the new Downtown Disney entry.
We are wanting to make a trip out there in September. How busy is labor day and the couple days after? Is there a better time to come in September? Thank you for your help!
Labor Day is one of the hottest days of the year. So keep that in mind. It’s also a holiday, so it’ll be busier than usual. If I had to make a recommendation, mid-September would be ideal. It’s a couple of weeks into the Halloween season, so that initial rush is over. Plus Tiana’s is very likely to open around the end of the month, and by then we’ll have an official date. You’ll get people who are saving their visit until after it opens, so the week or two before will actually be quite a bit less crowded than it would be with people waiting another week or so to visit so they can ride it. Granted it could open earlier or later than end of September, but that’s a rough guess based on the WDW timeline and where we know the current progress of Disneyland’s is in timeline.
@@chancemorgan6877 No not really. I’d probably choose the 9th through 11th if I’m the one picking. Can’t really say why, other than it’s the week after Labor Day, so avoiding those Labor Day crowds, but still earlier on the school year where families may be less inclined to pull kids for a vacation. That following week is just another week later where some will start justifying it (“they’ve been in school for 3 weeks now. They’ve settled. Let’s go to Disney!”)
does disneyland usually allow adults to order kids meals at table service restaurants? i am always too scared to but would love to have those smaller portions!
I haven’t encountered any issues with it. But we always ask if it’s okay first. We had a lot of food to order this day for a different video, so we didn’t want a full adult portion. Had they not allowed it, we would have just split an adult portion, but it actually cost more for two kids meals between the adults, so worked out for them over us splitting anyway.
There’s a good chance. Given the date that the discount tickets end, and the timeline for WDW’s opening, end of September is a pretty safe guess. Of course, it’s just that until Disney makes an official announcement. But here’s to hoping.
I always ask if it’s okay first, and never assume it is. But any time we’ve done so it’s been allowed, so definitely ask if that’s something you want! I like the kids meal for the waffles because it’s two mini waffles, where the adult meal is one large waffle.
