    I've used this technique and it works wonderfully. I started a little on the long side & twisted shorter when I got the hang of it. It really helped. Then I followed Britney's video to get some layers....thanks Sam!

    I know this is an old video so I doubt you'll see this, but if you do...... Sam Villa, oh my goodness I just absolutely adore you! You are my favourite professional of the entire hair industry, you really are. The skills, the energy, the vibe, you have an uncanny gift for educating as well. Somebody could be the best in the world at whatever it is they do & still no be very good at teaching it to someone else. You are very obviously a natural born teacher, leader if you will.
    Ugh just ugh......favoritest stylist EVER!!!! 💯🥰🤓

    I cut my own bangs without any training or experience and they turned out weird UNTIL I saw your video and I followed your directions and now I love them !!!! The most important part was when you trimmed the top part and said “don’t be scared” that made my bangs less bulky and gave them movement.

    I’ve watched other videos on how to cut bangs and there is a big difference between those videos and yours. What I appreciate about your video is that you don’t just tell us what to do you take it further by explaining why and what effect we’ll get by doing your way. When something makes more sense to me I feel more comfortable and confident. Thank you!

  • @tastx3142
    @tastx3142 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This is exactly how I want my bangs cut except just a bit shorter so it isn’t in my eyes and nobody seems to understand how to do it. They always just blunt cut it straight across and on older people it just looks wrong. I usually cut them myself but without the twist and have to shape it myself, but through trial and error have done exactly what Sam did. I have thin fine hair and few people cut it well.

    I doubt you will see this but holy cow! Thank you! I have given up going to a salon. I have never left happy so I would rather do my own hair and it be my own fault if it doesn't turn out than blame the hairdresser. I have very long thick hair and I have always worn it one length but a little over a year ago I decided to try wearing bangs for something new. I went to a salon and as usual, I left unhappy. I have been trimming my own bangs since but always have issues when it comes to lifting some weight. I have blunt cut but want a little lightness and couldn't figure out how to do it until this video!!!! Thank you!!!!!! I trimmed my bangs this morning and after watching this video I was able to go back and lighten the weight off the thickness and now they look fabulous!!!!

    Thank you so much for this. As someone who has had fringe/bangs for most of my life, hairstylists ALWAYS mess it up. I have a wave to my hair and I constantly explain that they can't just grab and chop. And yet, they never listen resulting in completely destroying my hair. I take it upon myself to trim my bangs and I leave the lengths to the professionals. This video helped me immensely!

I am not a stylist but I have been doing much of the same to my bangs (worn for 60 years), cutting, round brushing (for 40 yrs) and using a flat iron on top of the round brush for 15 years. I am amazed that it was actually done by you!!! Gonna send to my stylist this fantastic video for her to try on me. Thank you!!!

      😃 I've had my bangs for about 2 years now, I have the curtain style fringe, it's longer at my temples.. I like them longer so I can't pull them off my face and pin them back if I wanted to change. I went to a hair dresser for a trim and he cut them straight across, and SHORT. They were so embarrassing, I was 27 years old but the bangs had me look 10. They look 5 months to look normal again, and because of how thick they got getting them back to a curtain again too 6 months. They were too short to pin any kind of attractive way for a full month!
      This is my incredibly long way off asking, how do you trim a fringe at home? I don't always have time to get to the hair dresser, & I've trimmed mine in the past successfully, but when they start getting too long I could use tips!! I get nervous that they will not blend in with the longer parts on my temples that form the curtain & frame my face. Also pulling the hair forward and knowing where to cut/how they will fall is nerve-wracking.
      If anyone on here knows of a video on trimming your own fringe please share!

    So happy to see this update. Question: will the second “softening” step work on the finest, thinnest of hair? I’d be nervous that it might be too transparent on my hair type.

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are right to be concerned. If the hair is very fine, the layering step might be something you would want to skip.

    Still the best technique to make a really good twist cut bangs! Been doing the classic way of cutting it blunt but having this one is just another addition to my techniques! Thanks Sam! 😘🤗

    Thankyou for this. I had a hairdresser do this and loved it. Then she moved. Couldn’t get anyone else to do this. I don’t like heavy straight across bangs. I live in Alabama and I’ve been to just about every hair salon within 50 miles. I don’t think anyone in this state can cut hair. I’ve had some absolutely horrible hair cuts, and some of these places were not cheap either. So at least I can make my bangs look good.

    I learned how to cut my hair and bangs doing the twisted cut on TH-cam. Saved me so much cash...now I trim every month.

    Terrific! Clear explanations, supported by picture-in-picture (love that!) and on-screen text. And that you for audio that is *clear* and without cheezy background music.
    One suggestion: at 2:54 and 5:34, if you could add a definition (on-screen text would be fine) of "over-directing" that would help me understand what you're saying there.

    Nice video and clear explanation.. i lived to have bangs but people said that with bangs is not look good on me.. i have small forehead and some people said that i have square shape face and others said oval. And my hair is not that really thick, i think just right .

    Wow, I learned this technique 50 years ago in cosmetology school. Not criticizing, just thrilled to see someone use it today and explain it so very well. Great job sir!!
