why do you add the 0 placeholder before you begin to multiply with the factor of 1? this is the 3rd video ive watched on multiplying whole numbers by decimals and whenever they add a placeholder 0 i dont understand why they're doing that, or when i should be doing that in these types of problems.
That's a great question! And, I just created this video for you that will hopefully answer it! Here is the link th-cam.com/video/vWQnqaWXfG8/w-d-xo.html

How do I do 25725 times 9.5?
You would multiply 25725 to 95 using the standard way that you normally multiply a pair of whole numbers. Then you would place the decimal point in your answer or product one place to the left of the ones place. Your final answer will be 244,387.5
@@MathDefinedwithMrsC thank you so much
578×1.65 = 953.7.. how? Explain
If you used a calculator to find this answer, I can see why you might be confused.
The reason you only see one decimal digit in the answer of 953.7 is that if you multiply it out using pencil and paper you get 95370, then you need to move the decimal point 2 places to the left and you get 953.70. The calculator drops the zero, so you see 953.7
Thanks mam🇵🇰🤓
