Materials:
3 pieces of 20 gauge square wire, 14.5 inches long each
24(or 22) gauge half-round wire(no need to measure and pre cut, just keep it on the spool and use as needed)
1 cabochon, mine is an oval Copperite about 35mm tall
All my wire is dead-soft bare copper from www.RioGrande.com

Stunning in a wonderfully minimalist look. I also love swirls at times, especially when they are kept to a minimum, but this is my real preference. You’ve done it again. I love this one and today I had a go at it. I have a hard time getting the six wires to stay lined up when getting ready to start wrapping the bottom of the bail. I ended up using 2 small plastic clamps to hold the wires in alignment, 1 on each set of 3 wires. It helped me so much! I haven’t tried wire wrapping in at least 6 years, and only did a few then. Your tutorials have inspired me to have another go and this is the second of yours I’ve done now.

A fellow wire wrapper share the link to the and I am in love with it. I followed the tutorial fairly close on the first one but the second one I did with a triangle stone and a few small changes and I Love it. Tried to share a picture of it but couldn't

I measure the wire with a ruler in the video and give size in inches, and I also list it in the info box of video.

Been wanting this type of tutorial as I much prefer a streamlined look to the swirly one. Looking forward to trying this out. Can this be done with just round wires as well?
Thank you! You can do it with round wires (but you can't do the twisted look since round wires don't do that), and it is just a bit trickier with round wires.
What is your hints for keeping your square wire perfectly straight? I have not worked with dead soft square but will be in the future. I like the classic look of this wrap.
I like to use a cloth or nylon pliers to straighten it before I cut it

Can I use round wire? I’m having trouble keeping the square wire straight.
yes you can, I find the half round still is easiest for the bail though

Can it be done using round wire or it has to be half round?
If you use round instead of the half round I recommend 26 gauge size

It might be a bit tricky to do with round wire, if you were to try I'd use 26 gauge round for the thinner wire
I wish I could send you a pic of a cheap necklace I picked up at a thrift store.. but it's a pressed fake piece to look wire wrapped.. I'd love to learn how to make it. ( It's pretty Simplistic.. but really pretty. Is there any way to send you a pix of it so mabe you can do a tutorial and make something real simar or a private lesson I can pay for that mabe you can make something similar? Thanks!
If it is not actually wire wrapped chances are it may not be possible to do a wire wrapped version. I'm also not really great at replicating things, I mostly just grab the wire and see where it takes me.
Protip: close your eyes when you're trimming little bits off, otherwise it's a copper chip to the eyeball :D

Love the look of the twisted square wire. It adds a flourish, but much more streamlined than swirls. Not a fan of the swirls…
