Steve was actually the one who introduced a guitar playing technique into the rock scene in 1970, which was later named by Eddie Van Halen as "tapping". 😊
Mike Rutherford original Genesis member had a double neck bass / 12 string made by a local luthier, when playing the 12 string he would play Moog bass pedals with his feet. The keyboard player would play lead synth and organ together and Phil Collins made a huge drum sound. When they played live the studio albums came alive with only the 5 guys (aged early 20's). No backing tapes/sequencers or session guys.
Best guitarist from the 70s. Lost his way in the 80s trying to be a pop star only to come back strong in the mid 90s and ever since. Two new solo albums this year at the age of 71 - one acoustic guitar and one rock.
The singer on this is the late great John wetton who also sang For King Crimson and Asia. The reason why he's moving his hands a lot is that he usually plays the bass

Steve Hacket is the guitar player on his Gibson Les Paul (I think it is) and he was part of the formation at that time. On the original Mike Rutherford plays a double necked guitar/bass. Do yourself a favor and listen to the original as well with Peter Gabriel on vocal and flute, Tony Hacket on piano and all types of keyboard invl moog synth... and of course Phil Collins on drums. (The solo was played on an alt clarinet here I think, in original it was a flute) Steve Hacket’s guitar solo is the smoothest you can find. The song is a pure masterpiece
I had the pleasure of seeing Mr Hackett in Chicago December '15. Had front row seats. Being a huge Genesis fan, it made my life complete. Just saw Peter Gabriel and Sting the same year in the summer. Both outstanding concerts. And it gets better. 11-15-21 saw Phil Collins and Genesis at the United Center in Chicago. Last time I'll ever get to see them and yet another fantastic concert. They are the soundtrack of my life,as well as millions others.

Ever since I heard you associate Lisa with Broadway (no one else, as far as I'm aware, has done so - yet), I thought '… this guy has a different way of feeling and understanding things - with his heart ! …' And this reaction is proof - Just over five minutes into the song, you start mentioning the concept of 'Journey' (which we all know is within you) but in fact it hasn't even really begun ! - The 'journey' is painted and pictured - literally - by the following instrumental sequence (possibly one of the greatest expressions of so called Prog-Rock) - it represents (my interpretation) the journey of a river 'till it reaches the ocean - a metaphor for the Journey of life, with all the twists and turns, the ups and downs, the sadness and the happiness, and the calm before reaching the sea (of tranquillity ?) - It would be good to read the Lyrics, and listen to it again with your eyes closed - I guarantee the river will appear in your mind - in whatever way you choose to see it !
