@@cardiacatsbrandAs another Titans fan I will always root for my team but hate to see the suffering of Jags fans. We know what it's like to have a front office that keeps nosediving the team and it hurts...
zay jones was the biggest reason for 2022 success he was their most clutch player countless huge third down catches game winning 2 pt conversions big touchdowns zay jones a leader. If not for Agnew fumble and Kirk choking dropping 65 yard throw they beat chiefs in playoffs.
It's also a massive stiff arm to your salary cap and long-term vision seeing you could've just invested in Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze, I'm still shocked they seemingly opted out of that. It might work out for you guys or it might be a blessing in disguise for is, but the point still stands that we have an awful front office and won't be competitive until they get it right.
Here’s the deal: Ridley wasn’t as important to the Jags as he is to the Titans. The Titans are desperate for WR help for their young QB. Ridley gives them another year or two to get right. Bridge player, basically.
I'm kinda glad we didn't spend that much on Ridley tbh, it'll force us to take a receiver higher in the draft which will hopefully put us in good stead for the next four years. Sort out the Josh Allen contract earlier and you could've franchise tagged Ridley, but that costs you the 2nd round pick AND 21.8 million on the year, it's not that much less than he's getting from The Titans. Better to save that pick and use it on a WR if you didn't already pick one up in the first round? I don't like defending Baalke (in fact I wish we'd never emploed him in the first place), and I do think the way he's handled the Josh Allen extension is VERY sub-standard, but even if we'd have extended Josh Allen before needing to franchise tag him the Ridley situation ending up the way it did might be the best thing for us.
It actually would've only cost the third-round pick so nothing would've changed, and based on their free agency approach they never would've got a comp pick since they spent so much. My criticism there is that if we would've been proactive, let alone not waited until a month after the season to extend Josh Allen then we could've either kept Calvin Ridley for one more season or flipped him to another trade, given it wouldn't be for some super early pick.
@@cardiacatsbrand oh really, I'd misunderstood that, these wranglings get really complicated. I'm 100% with you that a competently run franchise would have seen Josh's importance to the team and got a long term extension agreed before this off-season.

Yeah, I question how they're building their team. I'm just more worried about our own front office and their decision making because they can't get done what they want to get done. The Titans are far from the pressing issue.
I gotta say, I know I'm in the minority, but I'm ecstatic! This forces us to do something we haven't done in 12 years, try to draft a #1 WR. This position has been ignored in the draft for entirely too long. Drafting WR's is how you get guys like Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb. This is an ideal draft to find that kind of guy too, because this class is so deep. The chances of Baalke screwing this up are a bit less than they would be in any other year (not that he still can't screw it up. He most definitely can.) The only question we should have now, is do we stand pat or do we try to move up a few spots to make sure we get Brian Thomas Jr.? Personally, I would package the #17 pick and either Cam Robinson or Walker Little to move up as high as we can. Using this package deal, I would love to move up to #10 with the Jets, who desperately need OT help, but realistically, we're probably looking at moving up to #14 with New Orleans, as they need OT help as well. A deal with the Jets would probably have to include a fairly high pick as well. If we made a deal to #14, it shouldn't cost us any draft picks and it's a win-win for both teams, as long as nothing crazy happens and BTJ gets taken earlier than expected. If Harrison Jr., Odunze, Nabers and BTJ are all gone before we pick, we should probably trade down into early round 2, picking up a first rounder in 2025. We could then target a WR like Adonai Mitchell, Troy Franklin or Xavier Leggette and then use our original 2nd round pick on an inside pass rusher like Ruke Orhorhoro, Braden Fiske or Leonard Taylor. I'd be fine with that. Any way you look at it though, the whole trade for Calvin Ridley was a HUGE failure on the part of Trent Baalke. We spent a lot on a 1 year rental.
