Obstacle avoidance does not work at night. If you ever need to RTH manually, make sure you do it from a safe altitude DJI care might not cover damage to your drone or a flyaway coverage if you operate at night without obstacle avoidance, just FYI Happy flying! Glad your mini 4 was undamaged!
I learned the hard way that obstacle avoidance feature highly reduces when in low light or dark out. Mine fell about 2 m only and had to get a replacement
Hello guys, thanks for watching. Most comments here talked about why I have to fly the drone backwards. Since the drone is out of sight, I can only retrieve it by watching the controller video facing towards the tower because, at night, that is my only reference to guide how far I am from the takeoff point, and everywhere else, the houses here would look similar and it would be hard to locate the drone point. unless I go street by street to locate my backyard. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. With regards to the altitude, I couldn't see the drone to determine the height it was at, and my only focus was to bring the drone back to where I could see it. Also, the drone can move fast due to the wind speed at that height, and in order for me to stop or move further, it would be feasible if the drone was positioned within eyesight. Thank you for your comments and likes. Good day!
could be due to towers' interference but not completely sure. That tower is 3km away from the takeoff point and there are no other towers around the area.
Did you set the home point before setting off? The drone has 360 degree OA but not at night and it warns you of this at take off in low light situations. If in doubt take the drone up to its maximum height and use the compass, 'H' symbol, or the map to guide you home, assuming you have set the home point correctly. Finally, 3k away? Away from what if it's not the home point? If it was from the home point your way off VLOS! I'm not a fan of VLOS and probably take poetic licence myself at times, but 3K in a suburban environment is asking for it. Glad you got it back ok though. Lessons learnt I'm guessing.
So you should never fly beyond line of sight. Even if you do, as long as your home point is set, you will see a home point indicating on the controller screen when you face the home point. Obstacle avoidance won't work at night and you should be high enough to fly safe especially if it's windy. You need to understand the drone features and the laws to fly before you create trouble for every drone pilot
obstacle avoidance does not operate at night.... should be obvious.... it is dark out!
And driving backwards so he doesnt see where he goes
@@xMorogothxthats not the thing, he thought obstacle avoidance would work, thats why he flied backwards
@@calinvlasceanu assuming obstacle avoidance works is a big mistake always

Flying well outside of line of sight
Mini 4 is strong💪

Waren genug Satelliten beim Start und Flug an? Vielleicht hat es sich um Interferenzen gehandelt. Mir schien im Bild ein Handymast zu stehen.

Lucky somebody doesn’t report you to the FAA
