    Richard, it is a pleasure to have you in the farming industry. Helping to regain back what farmers had lost before mechanisation and chemically boosted farming. You have crushed the misconception that farmers must be indebted to banks, which financed non sustainable farming. Banks putting them in a cyclical of boom and bust which eventually making them become modern day serfs. We the layman end up consuming farm produces that blow up our medical bills. . Though we may have longer life span but living our last decades in diseases. Dying we are not and living we aren't either.

    I think a lot about how things would/will look some day when enough people realize or are forced by nature to rebuild infrastructure in a way that keeps us and the system healthy. I learn all I can, as do many others. I doubt any one person/group has it all figured out, but so many are putting their feet down on a constructive path, that it encourages me that things will go well at some point - maybe sooner than later, thank goodness! Always enjoy listening to your ideas.....

    Richard Perkins:
    I’ve been studying and applying Keyline ( on a fairly small scale) for 40 years and this is an excellent presentation of the core concepts beyond the actual Keypoints/line aspect, which I have found many people find baffling.
    I agree with you about rational national Landscape lay out. It could transform and save many landscapes; especially those facing repeated fire, flood mudslide cycles. However the main obstacle to this is, ironically, is Environmentalists who seem to view the optimum outcome as a ‘a Landscape with NO Human impact’. Arrggg.

    • @MistiClectiCisM
      @MistiClectiCisM ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great insight ! That’s because many of us are environmentalists but there are as many types as environmentalists... anyone involved with hopes and practices for a healthy environment is an environmentalist. We just need better and deeper debates.

    Dear Richards, I congratulate you and thank you very much for the video. Although the scenario in Australia is very different from here (I live in Brazil), Yeoman's permanence scale is always very useful (I have already tangential knowledge on the subject). So I just want to draw your attention to the water issue. Although topography is an important topic, hydrogeological formations (aquifers) tend to be much more decisive than geomorphology. Especially if the subsoil is heterogeneous, which is very common. So, I would suggest you improve significantly the bases of the item "water", inserting much more the underground (there are three major groups of aquifers - porous, fractured and karst). Best Regards! Paul

    "I'd love to write a book about a keyline plan for the whole country [UK], how the population would be distributed around the landscape if it was designed to run on gravity in an efficient way [...] But then I thought why not just scale it up to Europe, and include the rewilding of Europe and reintroducion of aurochs and wooly mammoths while we're at it and just paint a picture of what the future of Europe could look like." I love this idea and I really hope you get a chance to write something about this one day!

    You mentioned rewilding with aurochsen. Do you see a role for either the Heck or Tauros aurochsen as the beef component in future permaculture practice? I ask because I'm a cattleman with an interest in environmentally sound land management as well as the history of cattle breeds.

    I stopped feeding my muscovies!
    Follow your cows and sheep with them and they will eat all the flies. I only feed them a little bit in the evening so they go back to the coop. Muscovy WILL NOT HAVE MANY EGGS! They might have more feathers but their feathers are more difficult to pluck as they have 3 layers of them! Still the best permaculture ducks. Beat flavour too

    I love your educational videos. Would the book be important for someone who is ovo-lacto vegetarian and does not want to raise animals for food source? I think it's really cool the different jobs animals can perform on a farm, but not interested in eggs milk or meat. I couldn't find an email on your book page to determine whether or not it would be a book for me. Thank you

      I think Richard mentioned in one video that keeping chickens even if you are not interested in the eggs or meat is very beneficial for nutrients, pest control and site development. If you buy commercial products they are either based on chemicals or...animal nutrients. So you might just was well keep your own chickens.

They See nice soil there and destroy the landscape to Farm a few years. Now we got Problems Like no Rain in Summer for months, Wildtiere and Desertifikation.

      Neither are crops, laborers, or material costs.
      Because those are 100% up to you. Richard Perkins purpose went to a rural area with less economy and poor climate conditions in order to show that it can be done anywhere.
      Customers aren't permanent, they're up to you to find.
