Hey now. Clearly the words of someone who’s never used a hand press to put spots in leather. It’s super satisfying and you’d start plopping them all over the place too.
Great quiver Chuck. I keep going back to your amazing armour - how about a dedicated series on building a full suit, a decent length video once a month? Sure I'm not alone in my keen interest... Fil from Ireland . Thanks.
As an archer and a hobby leather smith this one is right up my alley. I really want to do more leather work. It is one of the MOST rewarding hobbies I have ever had. It also seems a bit of a natural. The first holster I made from a kit I bought at hobby lobby sold at a school auction for $155! If you are thinking about taking up leather work do it! The tools are not that much in fact the weaver 2.0 kit has most of what you will need for under $200. I make double that at one craft show with just my keychains.
I'm impressed. High quality video is rare these days, I think there must be a professional videographer in the vicinity. (Smart move). It also helps when the craftsman obviously loves what he is doing. It makes me want to try this myself, lol, and this guy makes me think I actually could! Thank you for that, and thank you for investing the time and money to produce such a great ad.
Chuck, just completed my quiver tonight. Great pattern, and I love your tutorials, you are easy to follow with directions, you don't mess around, and what an amazing product. Thanks again 👍
Chuck, every time I watch one of your videos it brings a smile to my face. When my sons were getting ready to go to college, they asked, “ how do I know what courses to take that will help me decide what occupation I want when I graduate from college?” I told them to pick and occupation that your going to really love, because your going to be doing it for a very long time! I can tell you found an occupation that you really love! Best regards, Richard
Really great project Chuck. I really like the plug you used on the bottom. Simple, easy, and genius way of doing things. Gonna have to make a small decorated quiver for wall decoration. They look pretty good. Then maybe hang a crossbow next to it. Thanks Chuck.
I built a hip quiver years back, it was a major undertaking, turned out ok, bit I really like the ease and beauty of this quiver, and as always Chuck's presentation is like opening a south facing window on a beautiful day, a breath of fresh air and lots of sunshine. Thank you.
My favorite part about this tutorial is that you made the bottom first and used that to figure out how wide to make the template for the rest of the quiver. That is such an obvious solution I don't know why I didn't think of it.
Chuck would you consider doing a video on box stitching? It seems to me that box stitching that quiver would be a good way to assemble it and would help protect the edge on broadheads when hunting. Awesome looking quiver by the way.
I had an old edge-stitched nail box for roof workers. It was a complete leather box with sharp corners AND A SPACER INSIDE. It separated the box into two compartments. It must have been sewed inside using some realy obscure delayed stitching. Also leather was like 10 mm thick. Solid work.
Great video, I like your energy and positive attitude. as well as all the information. I feel full or energy to start a new project now. Thank you Sir.
My quiver of the last 30 odd years has had it's day. I have little confidence and less skill with a needle when it comes to leather work and the hardware solution thrills me as I can deal with that. Thank you Chuck,
I love you and watch all your videos. Tip use a stitching awl and beeswax block to do your last set of holes. Way faster the a 1 prong punch. Ps. Box cutters are for boxes and hi jacking planes. The only thing that separates leather men from the general public “we can sharpen a knife” 😂😂. Keepum comin!!!!!!!
@B. J., There's a lot of beautiful knives out there for leather work. They're beautiful, but they don't work as beautifully as a cheap ugly razor knife thats always sharp.
I am making my first quiver.. except I’m doing a semi flat oval bottom and slight rounded top. I can just incorporate the thicker bottom gluing the added piece in the same shape. I am also experimenting with stamping and easing into it. I am also using my stitch Grover to make long diagonal lines with a small non important punch inside each diamond. Where the lines intersect, I will put in a copper domed spot. The quiver will have a wider shoulder strap and then taper to the 1” strap with buckle. I am also doing Copper rivets instead of the Chicago screws but I have a blacksmith anvil to get those rivets set. I know this will make this a piece that won’t come apart easily but I don’t plan on it. Using your pattern I’m slightly altering it. Thanks for the tips
Oh great! I’ve been wanting to make a quiver. I already made an adapted cowboy cuff as my arm guard. The plug was the only thing holding me back on the quiver. Chuck made it look so easy. I’m ready to jump in!
Very cool project. If only time lapse worked in real life. Lol. I appreciate how you explain the finer points to help us avoid the mistakes that are easy to make in the planning of the project. Thank you.
Chuck, love that you have the items and materials called out in the description and on screen during the playback. However, it would be helpful to add exact quantities. I am trying to take notes but might get it wrong. Thanks.
Love these videos, inspirational and informative. How about a rifle scabbard for a saddle, was thinking of a water moulded out of belly,, sorry for my ignorance just a newby
Hello, At 7:31 yo show the strap overall length at 18" but that does not add up, Its late and I been up a while but my math keeps coming out to about 19.75 based off the spacing for the holes at 1 3/4" gap. The first and last set is inward 1/2" with a 3" space on one end. am I missing something? Thanks, James
You are correct, the actual downloadable pattern is correct - it looks like some measurements were adjusted after that segment was shot. Sorry about that and thank you for catching that.
Chuck, I have watched this video many times for reference, I am building one of these quivers myself with some personal variations. One thing I can figure out completely...Is this quiver meant as a belt quiver, a back quiver, or a belt -waist quiver with an over the shoulder harness? I don't think you mention this at all in the video, and the strapping seems too short for over the shoulder, but oriented wrong for a belt style attachment. Can you clarify for me please. I really like your videos, learned a lot and actually crafting some myself. Thanks, keep filming.
Hi Douglas! You can and it will shorten the dry time. I usually put my molded, tooled, dyed pieces…in front of the fan to cut that time as well. I may save the hair dryer for those “it’s the night before someone’s birthday and it needs to dry NOW!” events.
Hi Rick, We would recommend doing all of your stamping and tooling first and then dyeing the leather. See if the following video helps on applying dye using methods besides dip dyeing. th-cam.com/video/7qvHizUTvCo/w-d-xo.html
Here is the link to the stamp: www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/wire-twist-stamping-tool-d2181-leather-stamp At the intersections, a round, seeder type tool can be used.
~project idea straight razor barber stop I made one the other day and it would have been a lot easier if I had something to go off of but I couldn't find a video anywhere on youtube I think it would be a pretty cool video.
Chuck, I've been doing a little watermolding myself based upon your instructions. Q: if one chooses to line the bottom of the quiver with soft chrome tan, can you still water form it, given that the bulk of the piece is still veg-tan? Say, glue the chrome on what will be the inside of the quiver bottom first. Then form the lined veg-tan around the circular shape...will that work? I am kinda on a lining theme right now. Thanks for the videos.
This is great but the pattern shown doesn’t work. It shows the spine being 18” long with 10 holes spaced 1 3/4” apart and an 11th 3” apart from the rest but 18” only leaves you room for 9 holes.
That back quiver is like a tube too thick mate > when you bend forward your arrows are going to rattle and even fall out. Have a look at Howard Hill videos his back quiver was soft leather > conforms to his back preventing the arrows from falling out ! My vintage Fred Bear back quiver is entirely made from 5oz ( 2mm) leather, with a piece double over each end !
When we have to do everything in a hurry things get crocket... like the oblong, but he did a good job of quickly remove it ;) at 15:10 Dont get me wrong, I love your videos, I just can't do anything unless everything is straight ;)
At 24:45 I thought ooh forbidden pancake I wanna eat it. Next thing I hear is 'I'm gonna set us up to die' (I know its dye) and yeah, I guess that might happen if I ate it.
Being a computer gamer I have seen many quivers over the years. My favourite is a Dwarf-made Quiver from Lord of the Rings Online, rectangular in cross-section. I think if I ever made one, this process would translate very well. I would love to see the steps involved in making the lapped joint (?) used on the other quiver you showed!
For anyone making this, the spine pattern on the website link is wrong! 18" will only fit 9 holes plus the turn over, it has to be 19 3/4" I cut it and luckily tried it on the body and couldn'twork out how I had one hole short, luckily I haven't cut the smaller billet yet, so I'm going to cut that longer and put an extra set of holes in and hope it balances ok 🤞😂
The Bob Ross of leatherworking
Chuck has the best job on Earth!
I can't wait to tackle this as someone who just got into archery last year and getting into leather craft now.
Chuck youre the best man! So informative! I was so right when i said you were the Bob Ross of leather!
Wow, thanks so much!
I was just going to type the same thing.. great minds!
LOL Chuck is a wild man, wants to put spots on everything! :D Awesome work.
Hey now. Clearly the words of someone who’s never used a hand press to put spots in leather. It’s super satisfying and you’d start plopping them all over the place too.
ha yeah
I never liked spots!! Until I watched chuck! Now I want to put spots on everything too!!
Great quiver Chuck. I keep going back to your amazing armour - how about a dedicated series on building a full suit, a decent length video once a month? Sure I'm not alone in my keen interest... Fil from Ireland . Thanks.

My boy saw this and asked me to make him a hip quiver for his crossbow. Guess I've got a project to work on now.
That is awesome! Have fun with it!

Thanks again 👍
Thank you so much, so glad the quiver turned out great!
Outstanding video. @ 27:55 "Welcome to leathercraft"
Excellent video! This will come in handy.
He is kinda the Bob Ross of leather work
Weaver Leathercraft is one of the best resources to learn leathercraft. Thanks!
Thank you so much, that means a lot!
I'm a bowman brother an thats a few beautiful quivers you have great skills man well done

Really great project Chuck. I really like the plug you used on the bottom. Simple, easy, and genius way of doing things.
Gonna have to make a small decorated quiver for wall decoration. They look pretty good. Then maybe hang a crossbow next to it.
Thanks Chuck.
I would love to see a video showing your pattern making for that crossover!!!
Great Video!! I love it when you do longer projects! I could watch them all day long!! Thanks!
Thank you, so glad you like them!
I built a hip quiver years back, it was a major undertaking, turned out ok, bit I really like the ease and beauty of this quiver, and as always Chuck's presentation is like opening a south facing window on a beautiful day, a breath of fresh air and lots of sunshine. Thank you.
Thank you so much, John!
I just thought, I’m gonna make one for knitting needles! Thanks Chuck..!
Nice!
Oh man, that is awesome. You make it look so simple, no wasted motion, every cut is clean. I envy your skills.
Thank you, Jim! I promise, with practice, you'll get there too. Believe me, I have and still do get my fair share of mis-cuts and fails!
Chuck You inspire confidence.
Thank you for this awesome video! Stay safe and healthy ❤️
Awesome! Gonna make a leather beer cooler quiver now. 🍻
My favorite part about this tutorial is that you made the bottom first and used that to figure out how wide to make the template for the rest of the quiver. That is such an obvious solution I don't know why I didn't think of it.
If you guys have one,, I use a tiny drill bit in a drill press for repunching the plug holes. goes super fast.
Oh my gosh, I've always wanted to make one! Thank you!
I quiver thinking about this quiver!
Hi Chuck, would love to see you tackle the box stitch. Either the 90 degree or 45 degree method. Thanks!
Awesome video as always, Chuck! Thank you for sharing your methods with us
You are wonderful, Mr. Thank you
Chuck would you consider doing a video on box stitching? It seems to me that box stitching that quiver would be a good way to assemble it and would help protect the edge on broadheads when hunting. Awesome looking quiver by the way.

Great video, Chuck! Good idea on plug, I've never done one. Will have to try it, for sure!
My quiver of the last 30 odd years has had it's day. I have little confidence and less skill with a needle when it comes to leather work and the hardware solution thrills me as I can deal with that. Thank you Chuck,

Yay. The plug is a really great adapter. I've used flat round ones and a lacing stitch to attach them, but they never looked very good.
Thank you, Dixie! So glad the video was helpful!
Very cool project. If only time lapse worked in real life. Lol. I appreciate how you explain the finer points to help us avoid the mistakes that are easy to make in the planning of the project. Thank you.
Отличное учебное пособие👍👍👍👍👍best tutorial
Chuck, love that you have the items and materials called out in the description and on screen during the playback. However, it would be helpful to add exact quantities. I am trying to take notes but might get it wrong. Thanks.
I want to make one of these, but with a pocket to store my tab, arm guard and stringer.
Great idea! My Grandson is going to be very Happy come Christmas this year. Thanks for the idea and the info.
That's awesome - what a great gift!
Im going to make 5 of these
Yeah!, another great and useful project. It's good to know about you, Sir. Thumbs up!...
Awesome work! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Great video, great delivery, thank you and well done mate
im a bit of a city boy, so I now have the most rugged yoga mat tube at my gym!
i love the quiver diy the leather that is sold for the quiver i only need 48in long about 12in wide.
great video, thanks. ( i enjoy and watch them all)
Thanks so much!
Great project!
Awesome project thanks so much I will definitely make a few of these
Great to hear - thank you!

Way Cool! How about a pair of matching Archery Gloves? Or, a matching Archery Hooded Cloak? Cheers
Do you guys have a pattern for the fancier quiver?
Nice video, may not need to be an archer but it sure helps when knowing what an archer likes in a quiver
Very true! Thank you, Gary!

Thank you.. I was not aware of a downloadable pattern can you please share a link?

That was awesome
could this style be used for a hip carry?
Hello Chuck I really wanna make this quiver but I don’t have a printer that will print the PDFs for a template. Any suggestions?
What is a quiver and used for?
!!!BEAUTIFUUUUULLLLL!!!
Hose clamp and slide it over then tighten for bottom plug but put a piece of canvas over leather to protect against marks and done fast and easily
Im happy learning with this video...
Thanks...🙏
I don't understand why you started on the loop of the spine billet, rather than the other two first without the loop
Great quiver. Amazing job. Do you sell these? If so im interested in purchasing one.
Love your videos Chuck. What do you think about using a hair dryer to hurry the wet mold, drying process?
Hi Douglas!
You can and it will shorten the dry time. I usually put my molded, tooled, dyed pieces…in front of the fan to cut that time as well. I may save the hair dryer for those “it’s the night before someone’s birthday and it needs to dry NOW!” events.
Weaver Leathercraft Thanks Chuck. I know what you mean about last minute stuff too!
Could you make the quiver out of just the Veg Tanned Single Shoulders?
Yes, absolutely! We do recommend veg tanned but you can use any type of veg tan as long as it is a similar weight.
If you don’t want a shine on the quiver, can you skip the top coat? I’d like it protected but a matte finish.
Can you dye the leather before you stamp it. Like a basket weave? I don't dip dye. I use daubers and cotton pads. I would love to see a video on this.
Hi Rick,
We would recommend doing all of your stamping and tooling first and then dyeing the leather. See if the following video helps on applying dye using methods besides dip dyeing. th-cam.com/video/7qvHizUTvCo/w-d-xo.html
Nice
Greetings Chuck! Love your Videos! Curious - why use glue, why not Blue Lock-tite?
You can use either one! Chuck has the white glue on hand and it works great but other than that, no specific reason.
What stamps were used on the brown and black leather quiver?
Here is the link to the stamp: www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/wire-twist-stamping-tool-d2181-leather-stamp
At the intersections, a round, seeder type tool can be used.
Thanks
~project idea straight razor barber stop I made one the other day and it would have been a lot easier if I had something to go off of but I couldn't find a video anywhere on youtube I think it would be a pretty cool video.
XB,
Make a leather strop and install it in your belt sander if you want to.
Naw, probably wouldn't work.
Hey Chuck! I was wondering if you had anyplace we could post photos of stuff we've made by learning from your channel?
Thanks for another great video. Is that a timber hitch you used when molding the butt?
Excellant video thanks
Thank you so muh!
Love ya chuck
I'm thinking of getting into leather craft as a hobby and I'm a LARPer, I need a new quiver.
Welcome to the craft - I hope this video gives you the confidence to try and make one!
Do you still have any one of those quivers you made for demonstration in this video that you’d sell me? Thanks
Should I be bevelling the edges of the straps? I've chosen not to put a groove in.
Hello! Yes, we do bevel the straps, both sides front and back. If you fast forward the video to the 12:48 he will be doing just that! Thank you
@@WeaverLeatherSupply Oh thank you. I'm sorry. I've watched the whole video but there was so much to learn I couldn't remember it all.
excellent video, question please, whats the leather name or type?
Hi Ahmed,
This is our veg tanned holster leather: weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/item-detail/04-512s-7-8/holster-leather-weaver-select/pr_43000
Well, I’m wondering if young boys like my grandsons would like this? I know it looks beautiful.
My son loves it! Hes 7. Got him started on making a sheath for a fillet knife. It turned out well! Hes really happy with it.
Lmao “ simply to decorate our home “ that’s some tiger king 💩😂🤣😂🤣
A thumbs up just for the Einstein comment! Oh, and the video is pretty good as well.
Chuck, as always i am qivering in my boots!

Oh man! That doesn't sound good, does it!?!

Hi I'm chuck dorsette with weaver leather craft. How the fuck did you get in my home?!
