Those red berries - are called Surinam cherry, and it’s tangy and bitter. Usually eaten with salt and 🌶 chillies! They have become extremely rare now. You too make my day when you eat a roti of a pair of dhal puri .... but also frustrating as I want to eat one now😞 it’s quite a recent phenomenon to have dedicated covered open air markets in the countryside now. They used to be in Flacq, Rose Belle, Q Bornes, Mahebourg only.
Yes it is Moringa Riki! :) The mauritians make soup (Bouillon brede) or touffer (stir fry with garlic, onion and a bit of ginger and 1 or 2 dry chillies) with them - very nice and very healthy :)
You're right it's moringa / drumstick tree That market looks exactly how Quatre Bornes market used to be before renovation: without cover in between stalls My parents always bought Tekwa when in Port Louis we don't have as good as those in RH/QB
Really enjoy your videos of REAL Mauritius, I wish more tourists venture out like you…rather than those perfectly edited 4K videos which only show what the tour operators want you to see…

Those orange berries are rousailles: unique sweet, sour and somewhat tart taste. Best when eaten with some heat , like green birds' eye chillies crushed with a bit of salt. As usual your videos leave with my mouth watering, hankering for some of the Mtian delights you are having. Great day here: snow, freezing rain and such winter delights. Warms me up just watching your vids. Keep up the good work.
When they put a hole in the middle there is a greater surface that is fried, therefore more surfaces that is crispy. You should try the gato pima in a baguette with butter....hhmmmm
Hi Riki and Bryan, I also like tekwa made by my mum. Very nice with tea or coffee. Riki was enjoying the Samosa but she said the batter is also very nice. Samosa is filo pastry with the filling of meat or vegetables. For the batter this will be chana puri and not samosa.
King mufasa has nothing better to do.. Talking shitty... If you have nothing to do just shut your mouth and watch the video how Brian and rikki enjoying the food.. Disgusting people and you should be the one to grow up you are acting like just a 5years boy and girl.... Find something to do in your house, will you if you are bored....also you are jealous and nosey thinking if that food is free. Wow.... Bryan&Rikki don't mind people like him.. From 🇮🇪

I reported the nasty comment as hate speech.
Hopefully it is removed for infinity.
Thanks,
By now you have free loaded so much food from people who can’t really afford it - stop freeloading and acting like a 5yr old
We always pay but don't always show that.
Go Away King Dip shit, they are not freeloading! it's just Mauritian people are generous !!! I'm mauritian as well, I would've done the same!
