Honestly was anyone really surprised danse wouldn't do as well out of his armor? Although, the second round could have gone easily to him as well. the last two rounds I knew he really wouldn't do well by just looking at his stats without armor. He's no different than the other humans in terms of strength.
Preston has a trash Endurance stat though, he's one of the weakest humanoid characters. It would have ended up being against Nick, Strong, X6 and Maccready if Maccready didn't get triple teamed as he has the same endurance stat as X6 does at 9.

Oh I have started and I'm still trying to get access to the animation for the Danse him self walking I mean I made him look like that while he's standing and stuff ( he looks like a storm trooper when he is standing (even inside X-01 and T-60) and yes I put brackets in brackets) but when he walks the freaking skin disappears its a real nuisance.
Although I dislike the inconsistency, I have to admit that taking the power armor off of Danse after the first round was probably a good idea. Power armor is incredibly overpowered in an NPC free-for-all. Also, how MacCready survived so long in the unarmed battle is beyond me. That dude was getting wrecked. His HP must be incredibly high.
He has the highest END stat of the humanoid companions, his END stat is even higher than strong's and it makes sense because most of the companions talk about how good or dangerous he is. X6 does, Strong does, then there's how Daisy and the people of goodneighbor talks about him. One of his lines even says "im not afraid of super mutants been killing them since I was a kid". Had to be tough to survive as a kid.

I took the time to pause the video multiple times to see who exactly kills who, and what score each person has by the end of each round. some of the kills were hard to determine, as two people usually were hitting one person at the same time, however, it was usually depended on what projectile hits last, or whose melee was in the hitting animation compared to the time the person died. Fun fact - If you're wondering how Maccready lasted so long against 3 people it's because he has the same endurance stat as X6-88 making those two the toughest humanoid companions.
Apparently X6-88 is missing a lot of buffs regular coursers have as well, which is kind of dumb because lore wise Coursers are supposed to be virtually superhuman and capable of taking on large groups of enemies with ease.

Here’s my analysis of the rounds: In round one, Paladin Danse’s military training gave him an edge, but he also entered the battle in full on power armor, which gave him a ridiculous advantage. Dogmeat lasted longer as he was a small target, and Preston managed to avoid most of the conflict until it was just him and Danse. But when it comes down to it, when there’s absolutely no cover, the best advantage is the best armor. Danse won that with little struggle. Round two had surprising results, as versatile companions with handguns would likely be able to quickly duck behind and move between cover. The favored combatants were Valentine, Piper, and X6. However, MacCready’s experience as a professional sniper, as well as his time with the Gunners, taught him to be both a skilled marksman and a smart fighter. By using the large battlefield to his advantage, he was able to pick off certain contestants while they fought each other to the death, and eventually use his sniping expertise to defeat Preston. Round three was... unsurprising. When it comes down to it, the super mutant with a Strength S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat of over 20 is obviously going to win. While Cait was expected to have a slight advantage because of her experience, and X6 has the second highest stat of the companions, it was ultimately Strong’s game. Round four proves testament to the Institute’s training. None of the characters are proficient with massive hammers, but X6 proved to be the most intuitive and versatile of the companions, and used his high SPECIAL stats and institute provided training to dominate the field.

Danse without power armor is...kind of crap as shown. 2nd round he avoided getting hit almost the entire time and still lost, and he was the first to do go down in the fisticuffs round. But then again, that does make sense balance-wise for him to have very weak stats since the power armor makes that stat weakness moot.

When Danse didn’t camp in power armour with a military grade laser rifle, he was raped. If Preston’s weapon choice wasn’t so appalling then maybe he could have won.
Blame Fallout4's horrible shotgun mechanics for that. Shotguns literally have their pellets dispensary after like 3 feet of bullet trajectory, making them just ammo eating melee weapons rather than scatterguns.
Actually X6 was a viable contender too, beings Courser. Superior in every way to a human, it's no surprise that he and Strong were the winners of the respective melee rounds

Fun fact - If you're wondering how Maccready lasted so long against 3 people it's because he has the same endurance stat as X6-88 making those two the toughest humanoid companions.

Apparently X6-88 is missing a lot of buffs regular coursers have as well, which is kind of dumb because lore wise Coursers are supposed to be virtually superhuman and capable of taking on large groups of enemies with ease.

That Nick and X6 1v1 was amazing.
Here’s my analysis of the rounds:
In round one, Paladin Danse’s military training gave him an edge, but he also entered the battle in full on power armor, which gave him a ridiculous advantage. Dogmeat lasted longer as he was a small target, and Preston managed to avoid most of the conflict until it was just him and Danse. But when it comes down to it, when there’s absolutely no cover, the best advantage is the best armor. Danse won that with little struggle.
Round two had surprising results, as versatile companions with handguns would likely be able to quickly duck behind and move between cover. The favored combatants were Valentine, Piper, and X6. However, MacCready’s experience as a professional sniper, as well as his time with the Gunners, taught him to be both a skilled marksman and a smart fighter. By using the large battlefield to his advantage, he was able to pick off certain contestants while they fought each other to the death, and eventually use his sniping expertise to defeat Preston.
Round three was... unsurprising. When it comes down to it, the super mutant with a Strength S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat of over 20 is obviously going to win. While Cait was expected to have a slight advantage because of her experience, and X6 has the second highest stat of the companions, it was ultimately Strong’s game.
Round four proves testament to the Institute’s training. None of the characters are proficient with massive hammers, but X6 proved to be the most intuitive and versatile of the companions, and used his high SPECIAL stats and institute provided training to dominate the field.

Edit: As I played through the game, NPCs such as settlers and sometimes companions are able to do that as well. They’ll only do it in close range though, like when they have a melee weapon

Danse without power armor is...kind of crap as shown. 2nd round he avoided getting hit almost the entire time and still lost, and he was the first to do go down in the fisticuffs round. But then again, that does make sense balance-wise for him to have very weak stats since the power armor makes that stat weakness moot.

Blame Fallout4's horrible shotgun mechanics for that. Shotguns literally have their pellets dispensary after like 3 feet of bullet trajectory, making them just ammo eating melee weapons rather than scatterguns.
