Four of the greatest minutes in film history. Every performer is just genius...Helen Morgan, Irene Dunne, Paul Robeson and Hattie McDaniel. Perfection. I could watch this every day.

Seems to me things got worse in the 1940s when black characters went from menial to menial and 'comically' stupid. Helen's voice was so pure and a joy to listen to.
I grew up watching this a thousand times. Can't get enough of this, thanks for posting this.
Not only is it a beautiful tune, but look at how they develop each character and their relation to each other. It's a beautifully done sequence.
Closer to the actual play. Great.
It’s my 74th birthday and this brought tears to my eyes

The cast is so perfect for this movie. Makes one wonder why they ever tried to remake it. Same for the staging.

Helen Morgan (dark dress) was dead just a few years after this due to her alcoholism.
What's insane to me is that she was a decade YOUNGER than Irene Dunne, despite looking like she could be her mother.

I'm reading the new biography of Helen - loving it!
Paul Robeson had a voice from god
Even the best the best ' actors and actresses' of today would find it difficult to get parts as extras in movies back then among such real talent.
I agree
❤❤❤ YES!
Lovin' that song.
Classic.
I’m sorry if this makes me sound like a loser simp but goddamn that white girl in the white dress is gorgeous.
Irene Dunne
@masonf7332: You’re not a loser; YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE IN MUSIC, FILM AND WONDERFUL PERFORMANCES. Screw who tells you otherwise.
That's the great Irene Dunne, one of the top actresses of her era. See her in The Awful Truth with Cary Grant.
She's was almost a decade older than the woman in the black dress if you can believe it.
Where can I find this movie streaming?
I love how Irene Dunne makes the blackface expressions when she's shuffling about
Why
