Enjoyed spending another lovely evening with you tonight, granny Pat. I have forwarded some of your videos to my sister and my mother because I know they will fall in love with you as much as I have. I can't tell you how much you've meant to me and how much you bless my heart. This is such a weary world we live in, and you have brought such a beautiful ray of light to my life. You are a true blessing of the Lord.
    Love you, Susie

Granny Pat, your stories inspire me so much to the extend that I want to write my own family stories to leave for my daughter. Now that I am caught up with your posts, I wait eagerly and patiently for your next post…!!! What you are putting out there for the world is such a good thing…we must never forget our heritage. I am so grateful that you have so kindly and so sweetly reminded me that I indeed have a rich heritage of my own that needs to be recorded. Sending love and big hugs always…!!!!! 💝💝💝

I just love you channel. Showing all if these yesteryear tools brings back wonderful memories. I enjoyed time spent with my Grand mother's. She had so many kitchen gadgets and it was a real spacial treat when she would show me how to use it. Spent hours churning milk to butter and shelling corn for the chickens on a big corn sheller. I always love going to the spring to fetch water for Grandmother to use the next day. These things were special, never did it cross my mind this was work. Love to you for sharing these wonderful times.

so fun seeing those kitchen utensils. so enjoy your stories and look forward to anything you present to us. My parents were born in the 20's, and my siblings and I always laugh saying if we had a nickel for every time a sentence started with, "back during the war...." my mother would start her sentences with, we could retire. I am so thankful she talked about her life as a girl and young woman. *On a side note, I started listening to this video last evening and fell asleep into a dream, and I dreamed I was working at a nursing home taking care of Lucille Ball, and she was telling me stories and showing me things. It was your voice I was hearing as the video played while I slept. lol thought I would share that little funny.

@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 Granny Pat if you went near the East Coast to Sandringham where the royals spend Christmas there are many fields of Lavender similar to heather of coarse, then if you went to a place called Spalding they grow Tulips by the Millions there for the bulb market the colour of the fields are amazing, also in that district they grow a lot of Daffodil 🌼 again for the bulb sales, but the Rape seed fields as you say are oh so bright too,Rape seed is grown for the oil it gives after processing for margarine and cooking with ect ,the pollen from those fields makes me somewhat breathless so if I’m driving near the field I hurry up a bit 😊. 🥰🇬🇧

I don't like the electric ones. Still wash dishes by hand, I have a dishwasher, but don't like to use it. My husband dries the dishes, has for years, since our children moved out. I hang my clothes out on the line, when the sun shines. It's good you can remember all what you did, Iget a chuckle at some of the things you say. Thank you for another GREAT video. I love the topic of kitchen gadgets and laundry day. I have some of my Gram's kitchen gadgets such as the hand mixer, egg timer, nut grinder, colander and potato masher (like your favorite one). She would be amazed at the array of kitchen tools we have at our disposal today. I should mention, I lived with my grandma after my folks both died. I did laundry with her down in the basement of our apartment. There several apartments in the building so I guess each homemaker was assigned a day to do their laundry. The water was so hot we had to use a sturdy long stick to fish the clothes out of the water and into the wringer and into the FIRST of two rinses (likely the bluing) and lastly into the rinse of starch water. Wow! Everything smelled so good! Then items were hung on a clothesline (no dryer) either outside or across the span of the basement. I almost forgot! Clothesline props were another household tool and Gram had a cute clothes pin bag that hung on the line. We used large wicker baskets to carry the laundry down and up to the apartment. Ironing was for the next day, so as you said, we would sprinkle the clothes with water from a vinegar bottle and sprinkler head, roll the item up and put it in the refrigerator so the moisture would permeate the item. No steam irons back then. We ironed EVERYTHING; pillow cases, sheets, table clothes, hankies, and so on. PAT, there was ONE thing you didn't mention!! Curtain stretchers!! Do you remember them? They were so dangerous to work with. Please keep up with the wonderful memories. "See ya in the funny papers!".

As a child, my mother had some of those same utensils and now I have some of them in my kitchen today! My favourite is "cookies press" - it is actually a meat tenderizer but we never used it for that. We always used it for flattening peanut butter cookies or sugar cookies. It made the nicest pattern on them - much better than just a fork!

Another great story time🥰. I, too, would love to have a wooden dough bowl. I have the same relationship with furniture as your mamma. I have lived in my house for forty years. The couch and chair are in the same place as always. I have replaced the couch. But the new one always goes in the same spot as the old. Same for the dinning room kitchen and bedrooms. When I like something; I like it. I never tire of it. It will wear out before I ever tire of it.

I can remember my mom using some of those implements, especially the whisk with a little wheel. I love seeing all the old kitchen gadgets and tools. We used to go to a lot of National Trust properties, they range from little humble cottages and houses to the large mansions. Every one of them has a kitchen and the Victorian ones are very interesting, they liked their gadgets if they were wealthy especially. The Victorians were very interesting. I love the teapot with the cosy very practical. I am a tea drinker but most people drink coffee in England now. Much love to you, Linda from Staffordshire England ❤️

Do you mind telling me about the “National Trst Properties.” That sounds interesting.

@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 We have a National Trust property just down the road from where we live, they are mostly old mansions that the aristocracy owned, either the famiy died out or could no longer afford the upkeep, the National Trust are an organisation that are financed by membership. .There is a yearly subscription you pay, to which you get a book with all the properties in and free access to the properties and land. The NT owns a lot of land which is cared for by them places of natural beauty, also houses of particular historic interest, it may be an old cottage or even a house. All the houses that the Beatles grew up in are owned by the NT and are interesting because they are held in a time warp. I hope that helps.

Thank you so much for telling your stories. My mother would tell me about life growing up. My grandmother lived with us when I was younger and I wished now that I had talked to her more about her life growing up. There so many things I like to ask her!

TH-cam put your videos on my screen one day, and I’m glad they did. You (and your stories) remind me of my grandmother. She had a big bowl with a towel over it that she made biscuits in every morning. They lived out in the country, too far to go to the grocery store very often. She made biscuits and cornbread everyday, but I got fat and had to give them up!

My Memmaw washed and iron clothes on her back porch. I remember the Pepsi bottle with the spout and she used starch and water. She would let us roll up blue jeans and shirts and place them on the back porch waiting to be ironed.

Glad irons or sad irons. I remember those being put on a woodstove to heat. We certainly weren't changing clothes as often as young people today.
