    its nice to see a review that isnt always on the top spec model that hardly anyone buys so good job guys.

    Had the base model with the 2.0 L petrol as a rental in Adelaide for 2 weeks. Absolutely the most comfortable compliant suspension I have experienced. More so than the higher spec models on larger wheels (with thinner sidewalls). I think for predominantly city driving, the petrol is fine. I was getting 7.4L/100 km and never felt like it was underpowered. Certainly the diesel would be better for country driving but it would take me 15 years to break even at the bowser on the higher upfront cost. Plus diesel particulate filters and city driving are not friends.

      @letsseeif ปีที่แล้ว

      A radio personality was on Melbourne ABC774 this morning, and they went to great lengths to tell listeners that 'particulate filters' are really bad if it's not driven at speed regularly. They even suggested driving up the Calder Freeway on a weekly basis to clear the particulate filter. How realisic is that? Not at all!

      @@letsseeifyep, pretty inconvenient and not something the car salesman ( or car reviewers) will tell you before you buy the car. I’m a diesel mechanic and would not recommend a modern diesel for urban duties.

    Look at one of these last year. Drove the turbo petrol and the diesel. The diesel was leaps and bounds better to drive because it didn’t have a dual clutch. Ended up buying a forester s 2.5 it’s actually quicker and more comfy. Saved some money too. Also the quality was a bit nicer in the Subaru but I was expecting it to be so.

    Good review thank you. The only thing I can't find out about the 2.0L 4cyl petrol engine in Australia, is whether the engine has a timing belt or timing chain?

    Went and test drove one on the weekend. Thought you guys were playing it up, but it drove really nice! Probably nicer than my Mazda 6, which is saying something. Also really like the look of it, but a bit worried its gonna suffer the mazda effect. You know when you LOVE the mazda 3, looks amazing, looks great, then they release the new model and suddenly the old one that you loved now looks like garbage? Strong suspect the next Sportage is gonna shit all over this one.

      You certainly won’t save much on fuel with short commutes. Plus the diesel particulate filter will likely block up more frequently. Aside from the extra power, it’s hard to justify a diesel if you don’t do a lot of country driving.

      your right. but the only thing which stopped me was the screens. base models have those two screens fixed on that same plastic .ould which looks far too cheap n makes you realise that you are driving base model. They should have just given the analog screen or two individual cut outs

    • @markscott2215
      @markscott2215 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t call the car reviewed a “ base model”, with the $7000.00 dearer power train vs the actual base model (2.0L petrol). Having said that, the cushy ride on the 17 inch wheels coupled with the punchier engine is a compelling combination.

    Yeah I mean it's decently equipped but I'd spend either 3 grand less and get an MG HS excite AWD which has more equipment including auto climate/power boot etc and just has the best interior period for the price range or 2 grand more and get the MG essence X awd which is the fully equipped model with 360 cam, electric seats, genuine leather, heated seats, pan roof etc. I mean a truly luxurious car is within the same price bracket and although a petrol 2 litre turbo about the same performance to 100. Just personal preference of course. MG is having a major makeover later in the year which brings the interior quality up to look better than 100K Audis with gorgeous two tone leather and some other touches.
    But if you want a Kia, this one is a nice safe family car, sure, with a reasonable engine. One thing I can say about the MG is that taller drivers can fit, I am 193cm with long legs. Haven't sat in the current sportage so don't know.

    Why a total different interior design model is going to Australia? Why sending garbage there? Very curious the different infotainment, cluster and A/C and sound features.
    Even the seats and the USB plugins in them . OMG, what a difference. And don't come with base model, because it seems that in the rest of the world, the base model is more complete and better than in Australia. But, what the hell, its their problem. Buy whatever they want.
