I was 16. Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, 1978. The "Stage" tour. And they start playing 'Warszawa'. The light show is like blue search lights cutting through the night sky. I can still feel let alone hear it, every soaring note...
western springs raceway 78 , his first show was christchurch, then two nights later western springs, my mate and i screamed like high pitched school girls as the dame approached close to the fences barriers, to start the Stage wit this number Warzawa, Mt Smart was not even built at that stage, rock n roll.

When i see the buildings, stone glas iron i mis the love. That i saw in the yesterday's when they build something. The perfection is to hard for me. And nothing is perfect!!
what was the problem to add the right pictures...Warsaw never looked like US. He could have added some Soviet buildings to reflect the spirit of this place at that time.
@hermar666 That's right, because i couldn't find enough good photographs of Warsaw on the internet. I tried to show the mood of the song in pictures by using gloomy photographs in black and white of the city. Most of them are indeed of New York.
smile when you're really depressed and miserable. then, while you're at it, stop being depressed and miserable. you will notice your emotions will feel less miserable, and somehow less depressing
Right, it is New York. But try to think of what analogies might be made. Especially here in early 2023, similar things threaten to happen. The sickness never seems to go away completely. Dam.
Yes, New York City. Each window represents people. Think of all the people that were destroyed. Now, 2023 And what do we hear in the news? growing anti-Semitism. Dam it.
+Adam Youssef Whats the point? It show the communist Warsaw, destroyed, enslaved, people stood in line for food and did not always even had. Bloody say. Of course it bloody, people secretly murdered. We were not allowed to write and say what you want. You do not know anything about Poland, because the story is corrupted. Poland fell from one slavery to another. I do not think you lived in Poland. You do not understand Bowie, apparently he met a real website in the seventies Polish
All you have to do is use your imagination, and see that New York City is like Warsaw was, full of windows of people, myriad people, many Jewish families and growing antisemitism in New York... We are not out of the woods with anti-semitism. Bringing destruction of lives born of hate. The culture that you live in can nurture or destroy the human spirit. When the spirit is destroyed the people will each out and destroy what's around them. Anything they see as foreign it could be bad so stamp it out. Think, imagine, create, don't stamp people for what you think is them making a mistake
This song is more Eno than Bowie. Bowie, called away to the Spiders from Mars trials, left Eno with the task of putting some ideas together... this is essentially what Eno gave to him on his return. It remains the weakest track on Low, but that isnt really fair considering how great an album it is cover to cover.
The weakest track on Low?! Warszawa is one of my all time favorite Bowie/Eno songs! The entire B-side of this record is a masterpiece. Although the A-side is pretty solid, its Low's B-side where I feel this record truly gets its recognition as one of Bowie's best albums. If I had to choose the weakest track...it might be "What in the World"? Idk All songs on Low are amazing. My favorite is Subterraneans though!
@@punter1 we all appreciate breathtaking music but what was the problem to add the right pictures...Warsaw never looked like US. He could have added some Soviet buildings to reflect the spirit of this place at that time.
@@666marq With no disrespect to anyone I do get it however there are are people posting random images due to not wanting to cause angst to the ones that were impacted, hence the post is just random pics for a reason...thanks for responding @ marq666
Don't insult, (calling somebody "fool" creating pain and misery deep within) If you don't understand a work of art on the internet, it doesn't mean that somebody made a mistake. Try to search for the meaning. Let it come into your mind from your subconscious. Warsaw and in New York City... What similarities? What happened in Warsaw, could happen in New York City? Now, 2023, they say anti-Semitism is rising. Look at all the buildings, the beautiful architecture. All the windows each representing people, families, some of them Jewish.. what are we going to do with these damnable anti-semites who would turn our cities into Warsaw's.

He opened with this in Australia 1978 also... I hadn't heard it before... Blew my mind.
Still remains one of my most favourite tunes.

A very sad morning for all of us.
Goodbye David!

Excellent video. Not exactly “Warszawa”, more “Nowy York”, but still! Great atmosphere, everything I love about big city scapes!
This song should be anthem of Warsaw together with "Mam tak samo jak ty" by Czesław Niemen.

There's even a flag in 5:21
Ispirati proprio da questa canzone, jan curtis & Co chiamarono Warzaw la band che poi divento Joy Division. Un altro merito di Bowie
Oh my! The world we live in... :-(
Memories.

The instrumentals on Low were by Eno essentially...

There's a lot of burned out American cars and NYC street signs in Warsaw according to this photo montage.
Because it is New York. I find there is an idea of the similarity of Warsaw to New York.
It's cuz you can't search properly..
Pictures are taken from?
probably Warsaw
Not Warsaw city. I was born in Warsaw.
New York City

+Adam Youssef but does not record images only stories
+Adrianna Piekut What she said. This was about the Warsaw Bowie saw in the mid-70s
