I was never a believer until i visited Gettysburg 3 years ago and caught a snapshot of a Union Solider walking across Plum Run down in Devils Den.. Gives me chills to this day because i took a,series's of photos back to back to back all within a few seconds, and this man appears in the 3rd photo out of 5. He's nowhere in the other 4 of the series. It fascinates me and haunts me at the same time. I hope these men are at rest and at peace.
I sure hope so. I had much family that served in that horrible war. Two of them were Andersonville survivors. And I know that they would want us to keep learning about it, and keep their history and stories...forever alive. None of them left the battlefields, and they are still there today. (even the ones that got to go home!)R.I.P. to all the North and South!
I love military history of all kinds. I went to Gettysburg when I was 14 or so and found cold spots around the battlefield. It was an extremely hot summer day and the temp changes were quite striking. Little round top was where I felt very uneasy so I told my parents about it and they didn't believe me. I have seen what looked like wisps of smoke at various battle field sights. Antietam was another battlefield that held a lot of energy and was very creepy even as an adult. I have been to battle sites in my home state of Ky and felt things but not to the level of Antietam or Gettysburg. There used to be a pre civil war house not far from where I grew up and as a kid I would go in with two friends that grew up in that house. In the basement you could see where shackles had been bolted to the foundation walls. All three of use saw soldiers walking in cadence thru the foundation walls and out the entrance to the yard. They said they had heard all kinds of noises growing up in that house. Allegan Hall was the name of the house and it was used to smuggle slaves to freedom.
This video was very well done. It was respectful to the soldiers and I think it is really well done for the history. I have always been interested in the history of this time period and the civil war. Thank you for the great work.
I visited the Gettysburg battle grounds years ago. To me, the atmosphere felt thick. I felt as if my husband and I were in the midst of spirits. It was a sad feeling.

My Dad grew up in Gettysburg. The family home was on York street at the point it was a civil war home and was administration along with a hospital. Growing up staying at my grandmother's I could tell you some stories of George. He was one of many who haunted my grandmother's house. I always felt like he was of higher rank because he was always the lead.
What makes you certain, the spirit was a man named George? Not trying to be a smart alleck. Im just curious. I hear people all the time, talk about the hauntings they have experienced, as being the ghost of a certain man or woman, some with names and some they dont have names. Usually when i ask people that question, they say they believe its that person, because the spirit told them thats who they were. If i know one single thing about the spirit world, its that spirits lie. Theres never been one single piece of proof ever gathered, out of probably hundreds of thousands of combined hours, of paranormal investigations, since the dawn of time, that any spirit has ever been the ghost of a once earth bound human being. The spirit world is very deceiving and convincing. That's why the Bible orders us to not dabble around with it.
I'm a Believer in the Paranormal. I live in idaho and I was at the idaho State penitentiary and I was right behind my mom and Brother and I was going into one of the buildings but my mom and brother were already inside as soon as I poked my head in I felt like I was pushed by something but when I looked behind me no one was there. I really do believe a spirit of an inmate who died there pushed me and I really did feel a really cold sensation down my Back. It was In the summer time when it happened.
This documentary is absolutely fascinating about Gettysburg and the beautiful buildings, the history and of course the ghosts (paranormal). I've always had an interest in this subject as well as the history. Absolutely loved it.

I believe all Battle Sites everywhere are haunted. And places like Gettysburg, where so much violence and suffering took place, are REALLY REALLY REALLY haunted. Okinawa is haunted big time. When I was in the Corps I spent about a year stationed there. Went on the Battle Sites tour one Saturday. We got up to Hacksaw Ridge and heard the story of Desmond Doss. The man was pretty incredible. So brave. Really uncommon bravery. Anyhow, I went with a bunch of Marines in my company. They mentioned there have been stories of ghosts and strange things happening on the sites. Of of the tour guides said it's actually quite common on places where unimaginable violence and suffering took place. One of my friends asked the 4 WWII veterans (1 U.S. Marine, 1 U.S. Army and 2 Japanese Army veterans of the Battle of Okinawa) if they had seen anything. The Japanese veterans didn't hesitate in telling us yes, absolutely. Fairly common in fact. The American tour guides weren't quite as fast to admit it. probably because of the stigma attached to such things in our culture. Ghosts and UFOs typically get you some funny looks from people who now think you're either crazy or just full of sh!t. But yes, they told us they did in fact seen things they can't explain. Heard things too. Hard to discredit 4 veterans of the battle who look after the sites in their retirement.
Battle sites and ghost stories go hand in hand, don’t they? Hacksaw Ridge already has so much history, it’s no wonder the vibe is... intense. And Desmond Doss? Total hero. Hearing firsthand from veterans-especially those who were there-makes those ghost stories hit a little differently. Haunting or not, the respect for those who fought there is immense.

I knew that an ancestor of mine served in the Union army but recently in family writings, I found that he was captured and sent to Libby Prison and then later to Andersonville. Cripes! Those were horrible places. We visited the site of Andersonville several years ago one summer; part of the stockade is still set up and the parcel still rolls downward to where the fetid creek was. I had no idea a near ancestor was imprisoned there. Very sobering. He was released, whether he was traded for some Rebs or freed at war's end. He did live past the Civil War but I think he had been wounded and this eventually weakened him and he died about ten years later. His wife received a small pension for his service. Our ancestors literally made history for their beliefs. Their commitment and determination deserve our respect. Later my father (the opposite side of my family) served in WW2 as a bomb loader and armorer for bombers, in Africa, Sardinia, Sicily, France and eventually after the war, in Germany in Linz. I have his letters which I consider very valuable.

Yes, I am from PA, the Keystone state. If you look at any old building in PA with arched windows you will probably find a keystone at the top of the arch. It holds the arch in place with its slanted sides -- it pushes downward and that preserves the arch from falling; and the smaller top part is embedded in the surrounding stones or bricks so it won't slip. So the keystone holds an arch in place just like the colony of PA held the other colonies together during the Revolutionary War. That is my PA history lesson for non-Pennsylvanians for the day. A quick check of Ohio troops at Gettysburg during the battle lists 12 regiments of infantry, 2 regiments of cavalry and 4 artillery batteries. None of these units were anywhere near the Sachs Bridge. Given where they were engaged during the fighting it would be highly unlikely the Army Of Northern Virginia would have taken wounded soldiers from any of these units over the bridge during their retreat on July 4.
