A very nice vac. My early 822 have a 430W motor, but it's made in Finland with Hoover licence. The bottom is also a little bit different, it's with hinge but there is no hole. If you want to use it like a blower, you have to tip the vacuum.
I was born in 1966 and my mum used one of these I think it was second hand then but I use to think it so high tech and space age. I mean it floated what more could a Hoover offer 😂
You will not be able to clean the rubber decay. It will continue to rot and leech oil out until it crumbles apart. I have cell phones with the same problem. It's both environment and also just because he company did not stabilize the rubber when they made it because they didn't care to think maybe this would be around 20, 30, 80 years. Armor-All protectant which is in a spray bottle - its like a moisturizing compound and rubber restorer is what I use. I tested it on a phone that had leaking rubber that was oily and rotting and after a couple treatments it seems to be OK at least a year later and is still dry. You can also use talcum powder but I find that it sucks all the moisture out of the rubber and eventually the rubber just crumbles to pieces into nothing because it is so dry and it just fractures like a dry pond.
According to the Hoover service manual, model 822 was first produced in January 1957 until January 1958 when the 822a was launched. The 822 had two versions during its production run including the late version that floated, though it didn't float very well until the launch of the 822a with the redesigned skirt.

Cool yea i love those videos
Can you make another video on those vintage toy Hoovers
The ones that are like a pull back toy
I did not think model 822 floated. 822 was the first Hoover Constellation. It was model 822A that floated.
The late version 822 floated. I've seen old magazine ads that mention the air lift feature.
822 came out in 1956. The floating constellation 822A came out in 1958.
