He fabricated story that he visted Vanessa afetr his work, she ofered to drive him home. In home they found the breaker. He attacked Vanessa, and run off. Mike lied that he probably kinnaped Abby too. Due to lack of evidences Mike's story was accepted as the truth. He knew if he will told everything he would be send to an asylum. Michael had huge argument with Evan over what happend to Abby. Michael in rage told Evan and Audrey and Chuck dying, was his foult and acused of running from responsibilites as a soldier. While Evan blamed him for Eli and Garrett getting missing and called bastard who never cared about his family. Their realitinship broke after that argument.
