I can’t tell you how helpful this video is with all the great tips, it couldn’t have come at a better time! I’m an interior design student and I’ve just landed my first proper residential project and I’ve really been struggling on where to start. My course doesn’t provide enough support/advice on realistic scenarios so I was feeling a little overwhelmed and in doubt with how to approach the project even though I’ve done the theory/ practice projects it really doesn’t compare. I always find your videos so helpful, like a virtual mentor! so thank you so much and looking forward to the rest of the series ♥️
Ahh, that's amazing! So glad this has found you at the right time 🙌😊 It honestly boils my blood sometimes to think how universities skip past the really important real life stuff... 🙈 But hey ho, that's why we're here! Hehe 😁
These are really useful information that every designer needs to listen to before starting and when running a business. I appreciate you Cynthia for sharing your knowledge with us. 👍

To pass down all the insights which I know are golden when you're out there on your own trying to figure it out. Thank you and you're welcome! I'm taking a slight break at the moment in order to set up a more consistent content schedule for next year so keep you're eyes peeled 👍👌
Here for it! Glad it's been useful :) And thank you, it's slowly coming together. Guestroom/ creative office/ filming studio- a lot to ask from one small room :D
Hi! I have no experiences in interior design nor qualification from interior design. I love this career however I am struggling to close a deal. The situation here is that leads will be provided by company and we'll arrange a meetup to know more about what the customers need as in what renovation works they required vice versa to prepare design in the next meetup. We will need to spend times to draw a 3D SKETCHUP drawing and do quotation in one week for a not confirmed project. Cons are times given is not enough for me to do the design planning, drawing and quotation at satisfied level to present to clients and often had been rejected. I really know how should I do better?
Does every interior designers present to clients who have not confirm their home renovation works will be given to you with 2D floor plan, 3D drawing, mood board, project schedule and quotation in second meetup? The duration between first and second meetup normally 1 weeks. Not to mention, if one of the 7 days might be spend for so called product training conducted by company, it makes less time for second meetup preparation. I really would love some suggestions, opinions or sharing what I can do to do better? Or else, sadly I will have to leave the industry eventually. Thank you so much!
Hiya! At the end of the day there's only so many hours in the day. Usually the designer and client work together on the deadlines for each design stage. The designer would take the lead and check if the proposed timeline fits client's expectations. There might be situations where you need to put in a few extra long nights but that should not be the standard. I you can then take charge of the situation and just explain how long and why each design stage takes. You are not a robot and good design is supposed to take time. Hope it all works out, good luck! :)

Everything starts with the brief and the client :) Without them we don't have a project. Glad you've found this useful Susan!
