It's the best I've ever seen in my life ( Breaking Bad fans don't yell at me , I'm at season 2 and watching it) ... But it's definitely not Enjoyable..it's really depressing 🙂
Only one episode in, and that show already captivated me. A modern and digested twin peaks with glorious photography, I can’t wait to jump back into this universe. Hope it’ll hold on to it’s promesses ! Thanks for sharing this opening, I can’t seem to get enough of it !
Indeed, less artsy than Twin Peaks (and therefore more commited to finding a way out instead of escaping into the supernatural/metaphysical) and less technical than Donny Darko. The best of two worlds.
Herr Schmidt nothing in Twin Peaks was based in reality. David Lynch let’s us know from jump so anyone who complains about the show drifting into nothing and giving non conclusive elements are baseless complaints. The supernatural was just a piece of the puzzle
DARK is one of the best netflix series and now not nominated for any Emmy this year ? What's going wrong in the USA ? Every cheap series is nominated but a high quality series not ?
These awards don’t matter, they completely disregard every anime movie or just anime series in general alongside with foreign-made series that don’t have English as their primary language. Dark is just deserving of many of these things as I’m not into s2. It is so much better than stranger things.
@Bogdan Bulai Just thought about the Grammys too. They don't even celebrate music anymore, just what's hot these days and one artist gets all the awards. This and the Oscars are just disappointing at this point.
Award shows are like a school talent show. Some quiet kid could go out there with his guitar and flawlessly play Satch Boogie, but the popular kid who goes up with his out of tune ukulele and plays wonderwall will win anyways. It’s not about quality, it’s about how many people watch it. Case in point Game of Thrones seasons 7 & 8 won emmys despite those seasons literally ruining the entire show (which was a really fucking good show before those seasons came along)

The presence of parallel worlds has been hinted since the first episode through these beautiful mirrored intros , this takes some truly outstanding writing and direction.
For people who compares this amazing show with Stranger Things, please stop. Each series has their own essence. Just enjoy them and love them. P.S. Both has incredible openings.
I was just thinking the same thing. The way this show was written is one gigantic puzzle that you don't know what the end picture is, but everything fits into place when the time it right, absolutely amazing story telling. I just started rewatching the show for a 4th time (third time for season 2) to get ready for season 3 and every time I watch it I pick up things I never noticed before. I swear, this show gets better every time you watch it. Masterpiece!
Dark starts with the words: The end is the beggining and the beggining is the end. The intro is a representation of that words; two hands united with no arms.
I like how this opening scene basically explains every important event in the first season, but is obscured by the symmetry cuts. It’s only after you watch the complete season that the different scenes make sense. Even the opening is an impressive work of art.
This show is incredible. One of the most brooding, atmospheric shows I’ve ever seen in my life. Great story and amazing acting as well.... if you’re watching in German with English subtitles.
After watching season 3, I completely understood that any Parents in this world can do any impossible things for their child. One father lives 33 years back & do suicide so his son can live. Other one creates a time machine so he can get back his son from death. One mother can solve this whole mystery of 26 episodes so that her daughter can beat the cancer & live. If you don’t understand what i wrote then you have to watch season 3 | DARK. Peace ✌🏻
Came here after watching 1899. That show was great as well but this hit me like a ton of bricks. I really miss the experience of watching this show for the first time. It's as close to perfect as television gets.
@@daydream3rr 1899 is not on the same level as dark but I am pretty sure that the show would have been better in season 2... But yeah, we will probably never see how the story ends....... Overall I liked 1899 7.5/10 and I think it doesn't deserved to get canceled...
@@vini-ix8yt yea i agree, its good even its not as special (for me) as Dark Sadly, Netflix dont want good shows they want shows that people watch long and meme in internet about
Season 1 definitely had the best intro. So dark and foreboding. At that point in the show, we didn’t know if the show was supernatural or science fiction.
Yeah, the acting quality actually surprised me. But maybe that's because german movies are mostly comedic and rarely as serious and, well, dark as Dark was. PS, if you liked it I may recommend Who Am I with Elias M'Barek. It's a german hacker film, also one of the serious ones, and it will definitely fuck your mind.
@Hamza Ali for non-native English speakers maybe. But for native English speakers it is very different. A bit rugged and theatrical, nearly somewhat staged. But it is a German production not a British or American one after all, so it's interesting to see how German and English interactions seem to differ but I would not say more "realistic", that certainly depends on the point of view.
bro dark was one of the shows i wish i could see again for the first time, i remember it being winter in australia and australia is quite a hot place so when it’s winter it’s nice and cool and just staying up late watching this, even though i didn’t even understand a lot of it throughout my first watch, dark was in my opinion one of the greatest shows ever, i loved the intro and just ambient music, the storyline was unpredictable and hard to keep track of and just something so different than other shows, this never got boring, the town of winden is just beautiful with tall trees and a cold looking climate, this was all up a amazing show and i god damn wish i could go back to 2019 to see it for the first time again
1:17, I like how this represents every major spoiler in the show: the rainy night in which the accident of tannhaus’s son occurred, the mirrored worlds, and the ending scene of Jonas and Martha. All in one 3 second clip🤯

The beauty of this series lies in it's complexity. Especially the ending was totally worth it. Wish I could erase my mind to watch this masterpiece once again. ❤️🔥
If anyone can help, I've got a list of all the scenes used here. I've probably got some things wrong, feel free to correct. • (0:00) Flashlight in the darkness: likely Ulrich searching the woods in the middle of the night. • (0:03) Mouth of a cave: entrance to the portion of the cave where the nuclear barrels were stored, looking up towards the exit and the sky. • (0:04) Praising Lady: Elderly Claudia Tiedemann in the future, pondering time (meanwhile the Stranger activates the time machine to close the wormhole in ’86). • (0:05) Distorted face: overlayed on the dimly lit cave walls. Possibly Eric Obendorf’s face? • (0:08) Hand left hanging: Tronte’s hand when Claudia Tiedemann denies his advances in 80s. • (0:11) Waldhotel Winden: I believe the lobby is seen. • (0:12) Bandaged hands: Ines Kahnwald wraps Mikkel’s hands after he hurt himself in the caves. • (0:14) Upside down foggy forest: possibly around the time Yasin encounters the kidnapper. • (0:16) Road: forest road at night, likely in 2019, otherwise ambiguous context. o (0:16) Opened Eyes: the eyes of either Jana or Katarina Nielsen, or Hannah Kahnwald. o (0:20) Dragging body: Helge Doppler, from the eighties, dragging Eric’s body to where it was meant to be found in the fifties. • (0:24) Martha’s face o (0:24) Cave explorer: Claudia Tiedemann in the cave, about to discover the barrels of nuclear material. o (0:27) A pistol on a table: Hannah Kahnwald is in possession of the pistol Alexander Tiedemann tried to hide along with his identity. • (0:29) Lowered pistol: different model from the previous, likely from 50s. Context unknown. • (0:31) Charlotte Doppler: approaching the bunker after Peter called her to explain. • (0:36) Two scenes at once: o Appears to be someone’s eye. Context ambiguous o Bus stop on the edge of Winden: Hannah and Ulrich talked about the apocalypse here in ’86; a bike is visible and probably Ulrich’s. Many scenes occur at this stop. • (0:37) 1 Pfennig coin: the necklace found on Mads Nielsen’s body, in a plastic evidence bag. • (0:38) Blinking eye: Jonas Kahnwald blinks, image upside down. • (0:40) Hand on desk: Regina Tiedemann notices that the hotel has collected dust. • (0:42) Nuclear Power plant: seen at various points. Context unnecessary. • (0:43) Flashing Chandelier: chandelier flickering during the anomaly when someone uses the passage. Maybe in the Tiedemann household in the 50s. • (0:44) Legs: Ulrich sits alone in a jail cell in the 80s, waiting to be released. • (0:47) Rolling cassette tape: from the Walkman found playing next to the body of Mads Nielsen. • (0:48) The device: context unnecessary. • (0:50) Eyes retracting on blue: Jonas wakes up in the bunker after being kidnapped by Noah. • (0:51) Two scenes alternate flickeringly: o Quivering bloody hands: Ulrich Nielsen as he sits outside of the bunker after bludgeoning young Helge Doppler’s face in the 50s. o Solar system lamp: in Mikkel’s room. flickers and spins as the passage is used. • (0:52) Yellow feathers: context ambiguous. I have no idea; possibly Agnes Nielsen? • (0:55) Marching coat: adult Jonas Kahnwald leaves the caves to acquire more nuclear material. • (0:58) Blinking Eye: likely Hannah Kruger/Kahnwald as a teenager. • (0:59) The map: Jonas Kahnwald studies the map he found in Michael’s studio. • (1:01) Sheet drawn away: coroner uncovering the body of Mads Nielsen. • (1:03) ???: I really can’t tell what this is or what context it might have. • (1:06) Hand Heart: context ambiguous, possibly either Regina Tiedemann or Charlotte Doppler. • (1:08) Man in the rain: adult Jonas Kahnwald about to steal nuclear waste from the trucks. • (1:14) Stormy Sky: near the bus stop. Note the sky is missing the nuclear power plant.
The cinematography of this series is so beautiful... I just love it... the background music.. the scenes.. the dark setting... this is way better than stranger things... its exactly what i was looking for... and dammn this opening intro... I never skip it..
I actually knew this song from breaking bad (Gus's last walk) this was so cool that after finishing off with the series. I used to kind of put this song on loop and visualise something from my own future, my reality. Almost 3 years later here I was going into watching dark for the first time with the mindset of its all connected, alternate reality and shit like that. And My.... The intro is this freakin song and visuals kind of depicting what dark is about, the same song I used to have on loop visualising my future! This is Mind Numbing.....
I had watched 2 season of stranger things it was good I liked it, but after that when I watched DARK this is completely different league dude... Nothing can be compared to this series one of the best in Netflix infact no1. After I finished dark I am so obsessed and can't able wait for season 3.....
The critics and pretty much the rest of the world seem to be getting this show all wrong. I'm up to ep 6 and its nothing like Stranger Things. ST is a homage to 80s Spielberg/King/Carpenter etc etc genre. Dark is more like Twin Peaks. Heck its like a no artsy fartsy/no bullshit version of Twin Peaks with time travel supernatural plot driving it instead of evil spirits.
TheVandrell They are calling it a mix of Twin Peaks and Stranger Things. The reason being is that Stranger Things has a similar set up with a small town that begins to have unnatural disappearances and an air of the supernatural. Although yes it shouldn't be the biggest comparison. However it helps to market the series and Stranger Things was big thing on Netflix recently so of course more attention is brought to its similarities.
yep but it could also go wrong. there are mutch that love ST but hate shows like twinpeaks or lost. Personaly i think ST is a true homage to the US 80s. And its good for that.. Dark is a damn good twisted mindfu.. story and not for everyone. it has more in common with shows and films like Predestination, Mr Nobody, 12 monkeys, donny darko but not ST.
idk I kinda got travelers vibe from this only the story isn't quite as heavily focused on government/politics like Travelers but it's more focused on the conundrums of time travel and there's a bit of small town politics in it too. I really hope Netflix releases more shows like this.
TheVandrell it has similarities bc of the supernatural event and the location etc. But in some point it goes away to its own story. Its not 100% stranger things but like the comments above. It has its mix with twin peak and stranger things.
This show is made like donnie darko with a plot like predestination, except with more characters. It doesnt have humor or the quirks from stranger things, its a lot darker and deeper philosphically.
Indeed, I went into this show being told it was like a "German Stranger Things," and in the first couple episodes I was indeed able to draw similarities between the two shows, even being able to connect characters and events (Ulrich seemed to have the same sort of role as Hopper, for example). However, once you get a few episodes in, it's clear this show is much different...much darker. No pun intended ;)
Don Vizcacho indeed it is captivating like Lost makes you keep watching one episode after the other. but unlike lost, the plot itself is quite concrete. with lost i felt there was no plot, the story writers were just randomly putting shit together and in the end nothing made sense, guess it lived up to its name and made the viewers feel "lost"
They're both well written, but Dark is (wouldn't you know it) way darker, and that's more appealing to some people, myself included. Dark is >> Stranger Things

I immediately thought Twin Peaks! Was waiting for Laura Palmer to make a cameo lol
Dark is the best !

DARK is one of the best netflix series and now not nominated for any Emmy this year ? What's going wrong in the USA ? Every cheap series is nominated but a high quality series not ?
Emmys and oscars don't really matter anymore. Glorified self-indulgent stuff.
These awards don’t matter, they completely disregard every anime movie or just anime series in general alongside with foreign-made series that don’t have English as their primary language. Dark is just deserving of many of these things as I’m not into s2. It is so much better than stranger things.
This should win best show in decade if not 2
@Bogdan Bulai Just thought about the Grammys too.

Concept of parallel universe was already in this epic intro
And nobody even noticed!!!!!! Best intro so far
I saw the coin on the red string, too.
Dark starts with the words: The end is the beggining and the beggining is the end. The intro is a representation of that words; two hands united with no arms.
You might want to edit this with a spoiler alert! Wouldn't want to ruin the show for anyone
I like how this opening scene basically explains every important event in the first season, but is obscured by the symmetry cuts. It’s only after you watch the complete season that the different scenes make sense. Even the opening is an impressive work of art.
Just finished season 1, this series is a masterpiece. Donnie Darko meets Interstellar in a creepy basement = DARK
Yeah i was thinking the same thing, it's intelligent like interstellar but also deep and meaningful, can't wait for the 3rd season
black mirror too
Only a monster would skip that intro
I skip it sometimes because it makes me feel really sad and scared
But I still believe this opening is art

The English dubbing is bad tho. I watch It with German audio and subtitles

Dark is timeless beautiful MASTERPIECE OF ART
It has a very similiar concept but a completely different execution than Stranger Things.
idk I kinda got travelers vibe from this only the story isn't quite as heavily focused on government/politics like Travelers but it's more focused on the conundrums of time travel and there's a bit of small town politics in it too.
I really hope Netflix releases more shows like this.
TheVandrell it has similarities bc of the supernatural event and the location etc. But in some point it goes away to its own story. Its not 100% stranger things but like the comments above. It has its mix with twin peak and stranger things.
This is the best series intro i've ever seen. Everything about it, is haunting and beautiful.

See ya'll 33 years later!!!
This show is made like donnie darko with a plot like predestination, except with more characters. It doesnt have humor or the quirks from stranger things, its a lot darker and deeper philosphically.
And LOST, you forget the captivating mystery of LOST.
I think I might have to watch the show twice to understand wtf was going on lol
Don Vizcacho indeed it is captivating like Lost makes you keep watching one episode after the other. but unlike lost, the plot itself is quite concrete. with lost i felt there was no plot, the story writers were just randomly putting shit together and in the end nothing made sense, guess it lived up to its name and made the viewers feel "lost"
Stranger Things is easier to digest. Dark is an acquired taste. Love both!
My dad likes this song so much for some reason, he wanted me to find it.
u'll also like it to and 33 years later u'll show this song to yourself
