Can someone please help me with this sentence? "Jamal's confusing message did nothing to solve the mystery." I know that the word "confusing" is a verbal because it is a present participle that functions as an adjective in the sentence. But what about "to solve"? Is it a verb or an infinitive? If it's an infinitive, what's the function of it in the sentence? I'm really confused. Please help me :((
Infinitive is a form of verb. It's a non-finite verb. Here 'to solve' is a verb and also an infinitive because as I said infinitive is a form of verb that acts like noun or adjective.
There are two kinds of verb: 1.Finite verb 👉2.Non-finite verb INFINITIVE IS A NON-FINITE VERB. You can make sentences without using non-finite verb but you can not make sentences without Finite verb.

Great vid - thanks. Question: for the sentence, “The delivery man was waiting to drop off the package,” wouldn’t “to drop off the package” be an adverbial phrase since it modifies the verb “waited” and answers the question “why did the delivery man wait?”
When I read the comments before watching the video, I did understand the significance of "The delivery man was waiting to drop off the package." I do now. What is happening?
Isn't "to drop off" adverbial? Why was he waiting? To drop off the package. Infinitives can be adverbial. Waiting isn't transitive in this sentence. Really liked the clarity of the video and would like to use it, but disagree with this one section.

The alternate voices for each sentence is distracting and the voices are rather annoying.
But did you learn your lesson though? You should focus on the content instead or watch with no volume ._.

You should add the parts of speech to the sentence as you explain them. Juggling too many balls at once and you'll drop a few.
