I remember watching this run over and over again trying to learn a kickflip. He did them so smooth and his skate style was just real chill to me at that time.
There’s something nostalgic hearing how terrible Paul Higgins was as an announcer and how Jack Edwards, who didn’t know anything about skateboarding, BMX or rollerblading, but you could tell he was trying hard to learn about it.
One of the announcers said handlebars when he should have said handrail. He also said disaster when Pat did a front board to fakie. I guess, just a pet peeve of mine about old guys announcing wrong tricks which they have no idea about since they never skated.
Part of xgames is introducing the sport to the masses. They have pros commentate on finals and important shit. They roll out the less technical dudes to comment on the rest of the bracket so casual observers can follow without being bogged down by jargon. FS Boardslide is confusing as fuck, backwards boardslide is readily intelligible.
Oh man, the commentator talking about size and mass. ESPN just getting traditional sportscasters to call color commentary on a sport that was essentially just starting is funny
Duxe, BMX and roller blades all used the same course. That one's geared more towards BMX. Which proves even further than gen x skaters had it tougher. Along with their 7.5, 7.62 and 7.75 decks. Nobidy skated an 8 or 8.12 or 8.25 other than vert guys. Back then scarecrow and creature and Santa Cruz and Consolidated (all NHS companies go figure😅) made special cruisr boards that were 9s sometimes even 10 inches wide and had a longer wheel base. Creature had official Misfits decks back then 4 the cruisers!Santa cruz's had the evil dude surfing the big knife. Go look at an old school late or mid 90s CCS catalog online dude lol look at the shoes, pants, tee designs and decks pay attention to the dimensions of the boards it'll blow ur mind how many pros rocked 7.5 and 7.62. Skating damn Santa Monica triple set in some huge shoes huge pants tiny wheels and a 7.5 x30 deck😅 MAYBE 31 lmfaooooo concave almost non existent, couldn't feel it anyway cuz of our shoes😅 Pros back in the 90s had it WAY harder. I'd love to see these tik tok "pros" use our shoes, tiny 42mm wheels and 7.5 x 30.25 decks😅ON STREET SHIT NOT FREESTYLE , Cuz nobody would land shit. But they did kickflips , pressure anything flips, and tre flips so quickly 360 n 540 shut its spun so perfectly with little effort, especially if u rocked Titan Ti Lite titanium trucks or on like tensor or gullwing something light ....barely even had to scoop back then lol I learned pressure flips on 3 hits of black pyramid gel tab acid with the gold speckles- rainbow family doses, in 98 at age 14 on a 7.5 quim Cardona zoo York w Ti Lites and purple flip trippin shrooms wheels with China bones....bones reds to you kids out there😅 It went so slow and smooth, I felt pro. I landed like 5 in a row then started doing pressure flip body varials but spinning was too much while I was tripping lmfao I couldn't see shit but blurred lines of everything and trails😅
Such a sick disaster on that handlebar going down backwards 🤙
Daaaafuqqqqqqq
Seriously😂. Is that Joe Buck?
Front board, no disaster was in this video

I swear the sky was brighter back then
Oh it was......there's a reason 4 this too.
Look into bro.
It wasnt so jacked up with chem trails. Life was more pure back then.
When he unleashed the 360 kick flip, “spinning the board a full revolution” jaw dropped
Lol who is that guy? I thought he said it about the revert
@@PowuhToSeven I don’t know but he’s thorough 🤣
Thank you for uploading these and your own amateur tapes. I would go back to that time period in a heartbeat
Thanks! The more I do go back, the more it just seems to make sense. Simpler times don’t ever have to be forgotten.

Still happens to this day!
@@AndrewDangerouslyfrontside and backside is just as understandable if not easier
@@BaggyPop Bro, a FS board means the dude is facing backwards in reference to the direction of travel. What about that is intuitive to a non-skater?
the guy who designed that "street" course was stuck in 1985
Those courses doubled as the BMX course too
Look at the skatepark, the size of stuff, the angles... They ported a CAP from THPS
Inline and bmx probably used it too
Duderoller blades and BMX had to use the course too, dumfkk
He's wearing those OG sk8 Nikes
You want to go bowling? Nico
Thanks for uploading
awww the times before hiring actual skateboarders to commentate skate comps was commonplace
"look at the board is doing so many things in the air"
haven't heard "360 kickflip" in a long time
The commentators have come a long way
Check the 80s out…makes you laugh
wuz there
who remembers them handing out free mt dew and slim jims at this X games?
As it should be😌
The commentators for this were hilariously bad
Pat's very good🙂 at Kickflips😀
Nice golf commentary
Pat channita suck
Those hands Pfffffffff
Not pro
a full rotation of the board
@@djacroama yikes lol I thought he said that about the revert

"Errr... Disaster"!
Commentators sound like kooks.
Yav des français pro aussi qui n'ont pas eu de sponsors et qui ont dû voler dû matos pour skater
Moi personnellement ça me Degoute.
