Behold! Hetalia, the greatest way to understand history. And I mean REALLY understand, not barely comprehend like in school, or when something interests you and you go look it up, but the words fly over your head and you have to read it at least twice before you sort-of get it. You can see how a certain event impacted a country by representing it as a human being. For example, some people theorize that if a major bridge- say, the London Bridges or the Golden Gate Bridge- were to collapse or be destroyed, America and England might get a couple of cracked or broken ribs. Or that with major volcanic activity, Iceland's body temperature will go up or he will fall ill. It also shows how the wars affected the countries, as demonstrated in your very well made video. Excuse me as I go into the corner where the people who got sucker punched by feels of some kind are going.

2:15 and then America joins the war. Awesome video by the way, historical hetalia is an amazing thing, and you did a very good job putting this together, it makes me really want to adapt Hetalia into an allegorical historical-fiction comic lol.
Lol its weird, APH is known as a comedy anime that happens to have countries personified with all these stereotypes however, some, or most, of the people in fandom know its much more than that, that behind the smiles and happiness and laughter in the anime and that characters, lies something truly sad and dark. This video is just an example of what I'm trying to say. I love this video, please, continue making such tear-jerking, amazing videos like these.
This video really makes me sad. In my history class, we had a debate on whether or not the bombing of Japan was justified, and I couldn't bring myself to say that it was after watching Hetalia. I just...couldn't.
It wasn't justified period, no matter how you spin it. It was essentially mass genocide - a war crime on par with the internment camps throughout Europe and the brutal executions of soldiers throughout China. That in itself should be obvious without watching this uhhh - aw, screw it I really don't care anymore - this terribly stereotypical, unfunny, asinine show. I only enjoy the characters in the context of the Historical Hetalia community, or all the canon female personifications. In general, I care so little about this show or the fandom otherwise.
We bombed Japan in order to avoid having to invade, which would have resulted in a much higher death toll, of Japanese civilians, Japanese soldiers, and American/Allied soldiers. Like it or not, the atomic bombings actually saved lives.
+domenico26752 are you kidding me? That was exactly why we dropped the bombs. Do you think we're all blood lusting hateful jerks? If we hadn't dropped those bombs, even /more/ lives would have been lost for certain. American and Japanese alike. The sooner that awful war could ended, the better. Also using a stereotype like 'stupid Americans' really shows you how much about other countries you don't know.
Calmly Shipping i'm not from the U.S.A. the only country with two neighbors in wich someone doesn't know the name of them... If you don't know that: the two bombs effect is still real, also today there are deformed people and flowers due to the nuke that USA dropped only to "test" the effect of that weapon. Exactly, is a certain fact that the US army dropped that bomb to see how much devastating was, because the Hiroshima nuke was the first ever launched. It was an "experiment", and that experiment have consequences also today. Save life do you say? Go in a country with a decent instruction sistem pls. You, inhabitant of the 13 british colonies :)
Wow... I don't know what to say. This was so... I don't know... I started crying if that means anything! X3 It was awesome, and well put together. I really loved it, and the quotes just kind of pulled everything together. Great work!
This gave me chills. The music, the images, the compelling and accurate way you've told the story of World War II...Wow. I don't usually comment on videos, but I just had to make an exception for this one.
Holy crap, wow. This was stunning. I too really only appreciate Hetalia for the historical Hetalia part (and just the idea of personifying history, I mean if done right it's a totally cool idea). You managed to find some of the most vivid pictures. I read your description where you talked about structuring the video; to me the pictures seemed a little scattered across events (probably because I should expand my knowledge of all of the intricacies of WWII), but great job nevertheless.
No joke, I would read the crap out of the manga. It would be such an AMAZING tool to show the consequences of War and countries interact with each other. And woah, your feelings make me feel so humble. I can't believe I was able to get that kind of reaction out of somebody! Really, you've made my day!
Wow! I'm glad I was worthy of such a thing. You humble me :) And I'm happy I was able to convey something powerful to you. It really gives me hope that there are still people who take history seriously and not a means to be satirical or funny all the time.
No matter how many times I watch this, I can never get over the sheer greatness it radiates. It really widens my whole perspective on WWII. So, thank you for helping me look at it in a whole new way.
Hm. I've already commented on this... But another comment, there must be... This is seriously amazing. And it's true, this sort of stuff makes people want to learn about the past; the wars, the deaths, the consequences. I mean, when I started getting into this, I even bought a huge book called Bloodlands that is all about Europe between Hitler and Stalin... It's truly amazing how big of an impact APH can have. Once again, truly amazing video.
This is an incredibly well-made video. So emotional and beautiful and sad all at once. The musical cue when America enters the war gives me chills every time. Well done!
The pictures of Poland really got to me! It's probably coz I'm such a fan girl, but seriously! The pictures you used and how it fit with the music, it's just amazing!
@AnotherDei Wow, thank YOU for the amazing comment. It really made me so happy that I could concoct such emotions with my work. I'm glad the quotes also helped you in your internalization of the video. Those three quotes particularly always pull a heartstring when I haven't read them in a while (especially Hemingway's). Hetalia does remind us that war is not something we can just distance ourselves from - until we end it, it is embedded in our social conscience. Again, thank you so much!
I like how the climax of the video was that of the Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And then the quotations come up and then pictures of the devastation in each country show up. That was brilliant!! It tells a story just by the pictures! Good job!
I WOULD REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT. O_O No joke, if I was a rich billionaire, I would totally get someone to commission me a full-length comic of historical hetalia. Because I just think it would be that awesome! And thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you liked it :)
Yep - I can't wait. Just a couple more weeks and I'm a college graduate. Really excited! And yeah, the Cold War would be a great vid to edit, but I need a instrumental piece that flows well and corresponds to the events of the time frame. I've been looking around and nothing has really sparked my interest yet.

Wow, that was amazing. The images, music and the quotes - it all showes, how cruel is war and how many peoples, countries were hurting. Good job. Greeting from Poland.
War is an abomination. But human's life is too short, so we forget, and we do again the same mistakes. Please don't forget. Keep the abomination and the horror in a corner of your head, even if that's awful. Because the tensions and the crisis in the world today presage nothing good. I'm not pessimistic I'm just scared Because we're sinking And it's like nobody is really trying to do something. I would like to, but alone, without strength nor power, I can't. So please, because that's the least we can do, Don't Forget. Thank you (and please forgive me for my bad english, I did what I could)
i want to do something, but i can't do it alone. peace doesn't even exist anymore. we all fight wars, each person. some physical others mental, like me. we all have battle scars. in the end we surrender to this darkness. the darkness which will soon envelop the world, wich will break us in every possible way. but we aren't fighting it, we become part of it, breaking other persons. STAND UP! be your friggin self! don't let the world bend and mold you. fight the darkness. stand up for this rotten world.
Berit van Eijl I wish I could do something to. All you said was so true, it found so much echoes in me. I would like to enlighten the world. I would like to give hope to people. I wish that I could travel all around the world, telling to everyone how much they're beautiful and unique. I would just like to see them smile and laugh, instead of crying and suffering in the dark.
Emellya those words are words wich i wanted to speak for a long time, i have been bullied because i wasn't like the rest. i use complicated words and thanks to my past it is hard to figure out my emotions. i'm with you completely, i want to travel the world, make people smile.
@DoubleTakeCosplay Jeez, never saw this comment... Thank you so much. It means a lot to me. I'm glad you're looking deeper into WWII. If we study history we can avoid repeating past mistakes.

@RareDogOnWheels Wow, thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful comment! It truly means a lot to me that others can be swayed by this video and that hopefully, we can learn from this devastation and find a way towards peace.
Well yes, I actually have a few plans to make ones about different war periods or just feuds between countries in general. One that I really should get started on after I graduate is the political relationship between China and Japan (featuring Taiwan) to the instrumental intro of The xx. The Cold War and the Vietnam War are also videos I'd like to do at a later time as well. And thanks for thinking this tasteful. That's very nice of you to say~
Oh, I know exactly what song your talking about--it's got a great beat to it, you can probably have a lot of fun editing to that song. ahh I'd really like to see a Cold War video from you! But school comes first =/ Focus on graduating lol
Whenever I'm talking about soldier with my mom, I almost cried. I don't really know why's that. I don't even know a lot about them. It also make me think about history. I can't escape feels.
Wow... Dear Sir/Madam, congratulations, this video was great. It really showed that wars are evil and when they are over, there are no winners. Your choice of pictures was also stunning. May I ask if you followed the real history of WW2? It seemed like you did and if so, it is even better. Thank you for making this video! Greetings from Germany.
I would totally do it if I wasn't the slowest drawer in the world. At my rate, unfortunately, it would take me a year to finish one chapter lol. Maybe if I learn to draw faster (and a bit better xD). You're welcome for the comment =) I don't know if you've made more videos like this or if you plan to, but I'd love to see another video like this with a different war/period of history. I like your portrayal of the serious events, it's really the most tasteful way this kind of thing can be done.
@IceDraGon18326 Thank you so much! I've read a lot about WWII, so I made sure to include Thailand as they were co-belligerants with the Axis. I'm glad you like the pictures I used and understand what I was trying to convey with this video. And don't worry, your English is very good!

Oh my dear... This... This is just... I am close to tears right now. No words can express the emotions brought out by this amazing work of art... The combination of these deep and heart wrenching images and the wonderful musical piece is just stunning. And the quotes at the end really make you think... They're just too true. Thank you so much for creating this work of art. It's an inspiration for me to write a story about World War II.
That's great! We need more people like you in the world. If you learn enough history, you will understand why certain events happened and you can spot patterns in current events early on. That way, we do not repeat the same travesties as our predecessors.
This is just so...I have no words for it. ♥ I have so many friends from other countrys and when I look at a picture from this video I see their faces! And I know that this has happened to the families of their generations before. I think about it because my best friends are from poland, russia and denmark. I also have friends from france, sweden, america, spain and england. To me we are all the same, no matter where we come from and hopefully, WW3 will never happen! - Greetings from Germany. ♥
This does sure capture the darkness of world history. :/ It's so well done that I don't have enough words to describe it. I'll just go with Awesome. That says a lot, haha. Ja? I was also really moved by the quotes at the end. It makes one think a bit deeper. It really shows, as the video goes, that you put a lot of effort in making this. It's so, /so/ beautiful, and serious - to a point where I almost started sobbing. Oh well, thanks for making it. ♥
I will always love the grittier, historical aspects of Hetalia. Despite the fluffy nature of the show makes it endearing, but it always holds the potential to be something more like THIS. Amazing. Simply amazing :)

Oh, I see. I was trying to imagine Hungary with Germany. I seemed to have forgotten that Austria is technically German. I do indeed know about the Habsburgs being German, something about a treaty keeping them out of the German Confederation. Some of the historical fanfictions are kinda good. @felixthecat029 Thank you very much for your wonderful comment! It means a lot to me since I worked really hard to piece WWII together through a bunch of an amazing artwork.
@TekadieShiekah Thank you so much! I definitely tried to convey that almost all of the countries involved lost substantial amounts of resources, lives, and hope for a better future. I did indeed follow the real history of WW2. I've done a lot of research on WW2 so I wanted to include as much of the history as possible, not just show the allies fighting the axis. It was indeed much more than that. And you're very welcome~ -Greeting from Seattle :3
I almost burst into tears, and much of it was scary. Some of the pictures went by too fast that I had to pause to look. Some were too fast even to pause. Still, it's a good video using good pictures and music. It shows how cruel the world is, and that war is not the answer. In war, I don't think either side is innocent. I like the quotes at the end. I'm adding them to my website.

Japan is on amaizing terms with the US rigt now. Stop trying to pull drama that doesn't exist.
I literally just shivered for no reason.
The ending made me cry.
Wow, the ending to this really got to me. I was on the verge of tears.
remember
Well done!
this is one of my most favorite hetalia videos of all time.
why doesn't it have more views?? ^^;
Good job!
It seriously hurts to see this after watching HetaOni
Same. Should have stayed on the happy side. I'll never see my husbandos the same again.
I love your work!!!!
i love how the music effects the video. Well done ^J^
This is incredible.
Add this to the ever growing list of videos I need to show my history class before we finish our WWII section.
I WOULD REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT. O_O
No joke, if I was a rich billionaire, I would totally get someone to commission me a full-length comic of historical hetalia. Because I just think it would be that awesome!
And thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you liked it :)
Oh no, don't apologize! :) I'm really glad people like it and still comment on it. I'm just happy to give people another perspective on WWIII.
This was beyond gorgeous, mind blowing and raw
great video :-) It's amazing
Yep - I can't wait. Just a couple more weeks and I'm a college graduate. Really excited!
And yeah, the Cold War would be a great vid to edit, but I need a instrumental piece that flows well and corresponds to the events of the time frame. I've been looking around and nothing has really sparked my interest yet.
I think this is the best aph video about ww2.I'm Thai. And i feel glad that you don't forget to put Thailand in 1:34 and 2:07.(How do you know our history?! )
I had learnt about ww2 already. This video can tell me which country are Axis or Allied. And what they did during and after the war.Every pictures you choose have their meaning about history.Thank you for sharing this video.
(I'm Thai and my English is not good.Sorry if I wrote something wrong.)
Wow! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment. I'm glad it was good enough to share :D
..i never usually cry at these videos...good job ;c...also i love how everyone makes all these dark videos then when you watch the show you get the complete oppisite
Wow, that was amazing. The images, music and the quotes - it all showes, how cruel is war and how many peoples, countries were hurting. Good job.
Greeting from Poland.
So beautifully made, especially the ending. The quotes are so true...
This remains one of the most incredible historical Hetalia videos I've seen
That's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.
Thanks a lot for your work
That's just wonderful
Man, this is the best video i've ever watched.
really amazing. in the end i was sad. extremely good amv.
War is an abomination.
But human's life is too short, so we forget, and we do again the same mistakes.
Please don't forget.
Keep the abomination and the horror in a corner of your head, even if that's awful.
Because the tensions and the crisis in the world today presage nothing good.
I'm not pessimistic
I'm just scared
Because we're sinking
And it's like nobody is really trying to do something.
I would like to, but alone, without strength nor power, I can't.
So please, because that's the least we can do, Don't Forget.
Thank you
(and please forgive me for my bad english, I did what I could)
i want to do something, but i can't do it alone. peace doesn't even exist anymore. we all fight wars, each person. some physical others mental, like me. we all have battle scars. in the end we surrender to this darkness. the darkness which will soon envelop the world, wich will break us in every possible way. but we aren't fighting it, we become part of it, breaking other persons. STAND UP! be your friggin self! don't let the world bend and mold you. fight the darkness. stand up for this rotten world.
Emellya
those words are words wich i wanted to speak for a long time, i have been bullied because i wasn't like the rest. i use complicated words and thanks to my past it is hard to figure out my emotions. i'm with you completely, i want to travel the world, make people smile.
I'm sorry but that's a bit edgy but you're right because I'm part German and I see Germany being hated by a lot of countries.
@@beritvaneijl8497 together with the music your talk sounds epic;)
@DoubleTakeCosplay Jeez, never saw this comment...
Thank you so much. It means a lot to me. I'm glad you're looking deeper into WWII. If we study history we can avoid repeating past mistakes.
this is...beautiful. i can't stop watching it
That ending was fucking fabulous
Agree…………~_~
I started crying. This is beautiful.
The quotes brought it all together. Though in a depressing way, this was beautiful.
Thanks a lot! :D I really like the quotes at the end too~
!!!!!!!!! *falls off chair* MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE! Someone thought my art was good enough to use in their video!!!
EPIC video, man. LOVE IT.
Take an AP class. Trust me, it's so much more exciting. Plus, APH is amazing for helping to remember little details!
I believe this should be made into a movie. Like, the countries being played by real people and the plot being that of WW2.
I would not only fangirl but cry during this movie.
I truly love anything History-related and Hetalia just makes it so much better.
wow...this was amazing...by the end, i was in tears, sobbing...
Wow. That was just...wow. I can't even put it into words.
This video is so sad that it reminds me of all these things.. these..
Thanks! Glad there's still people who comment and like this vid.
I believe I got that picture from deviantart. I believe if you such WWII and hetalia, it should come up.
And thanks again! Makes my heart happy~
@RareDogOnWheels Wow, thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful comment! It truly means a lot to me that others can be swayed by this video and that hopefully, we can learn from this devastation and find a way towards peace.
I loved th messages at the end.
Wonderful. Simply wonderful (the video, not the war, of course)
this is so perfect, well done well done indeed
Pretty much the best comment ever. Your parents are pretty much the coolest parents in the world - never let them go! And thanks for sticking for this video's honor! *salutes you*
Chills all the way. Words cannot express.
I have so many friends from other countrys and when I look at a picture from this video I see their faces! And I know that this has happened to the families of their generations before. I think about it because my best friends are from poland, russia and denmark. I also have friends from france, sweden, america, spain and england. To me we are all the same, no matter where we come from and hopefully, WW3 will never happen!
- Greetings from Germany. ♥
This was just amazing!
Thanks! I really like the music. The composer is Hans Zimmer's protege so of course it had to be pretty badass.
The way Hetalia is supposed to be
I will always love the grittier, historical aspects of Hetalia. Despite the fluffy nature of the show makes it endearing, but it always holds the potential to be something more like THIS.
Amazing. Simply amazing :)
(Huh, second declaration of love today. I'm not sure what to do in this kind of situation...)
And thanks a lot for your wonderful comment :D I don't think the world should worship me but everyone should understand the consequences of war! And, I think my video helps to convey that.
Oh, I see. I was trying to imagine Hungary with Germany. I seemed to have forgotten that Austria is technically German. I do indeed know about the Habsburgs being German, something about a treaty keeping them out of the German Confederation. Some of the historical fanfictions are kinda good. Hetaliasse's art gallery on Deviantart is also eye-catching. A perfect version of Hetalia to me is like I've mentioned before, less emphasis on national stereotypes, and more of international relations. For
@Serah1997 Thanks you very much! War is indeed cruel and that must be hammered into the heads of everyone in this world if we are ever to achieve peace.
Greetings from Seattle~
@felixthecat029 Thank you very much for your wonderful comment! It means a lot to me since I worked really hard to piece WWII together through a bunch of an amazing artwork.
@TekadieShiekah Thank you so much! I definitely tried to convey that almost all of the countries involved lost substantial amounts of resources, lives, and hope for a better future.
I did indeed follow the real history of WW2. I've done a lot of research on WW2 so I wanted to include as much of the history as possible, not just show the allies fighting the axis. It was indeed much more than that.
And you're very welcome~
-Greeting from Seattle :3
I almost burst into tears, and much of it was scary. Some of the pictures went by too fast that I had to pause to look. Some were too fast even to pause. Still, it's a good video using good pictures and music. It shows how cruel the world is, and that war is not the answer. In war, I don't think either side is innocent. I like the quotes at the end. I'm adding them to my website.
How
Oh god it gave me chills.

fitting music and good advice
