Hey man, this video is amazingly good. As a Swain main, I think you have nailed the most important aspects of this champion. Also I want to share a thing that I have used on my games and also seen on some LEC matches, even if it's kind of situational: Against teams with a lot of mobility, rushing Rylais on the Mandate build may help a lot to keep the enemies in your ult range and makes easier to hit other important abilities such as your E or W. That being said, it's important to remember that your mana sustain will be kinda bad if you do this, so you have to be pretty sure that you have enough mana before going to teamfights.
Just came back to the game, enjoyed this in-depth guide. Was thinking about maining 2-3 Champs until Im back into the game after a 4 year break. Picked swain, Kayle and Mordekaiser for this so this was very helpful! :D
Phase rush is 100% needed into Ahri, since whenever you hit her with e pull she has a really easy time trading back with w and q right away, evening out the trade or even winning it if you can't juke it with more movement speed
Happily admit im a LOL noob, but I had never considered or seen playing Swayn not support. Definitely going to try this out in mid/ top lane and see how I get on. I’ve played over 100 games support and really enjoy it. Great guide thank you!
Great guide. I start maining Swain after the rework as well as the durability patch. It is now my best champion. I feel Rylais is a must buy for Swain whereas Hourglass is not very useful for me (unless there are multiple assassin). One more trick I think you can add in for the video, is that if you are running away from enemy (say an Urgot is chasing you), you can throw an E to hook them but if you hook them, KEEP RUNNING and DO NOT PULL HIM IN. Yes you get a LITTLE heal but that pull probably will let them catch up to you and kill you so I often just hook them and run and not pull them in if I am running for my life. Hope that make sense to you.
As a Malzahar one trick, it can be boring just playing the same champ over and over again, so been playing Swain the past 6 months and he is amazing! I’ve also replaced Vel’Koz and Kassadin with Talon, but seeing your tierlist for Swain I realized I might keep Kassadin.
You forgot two other good items: Force of nature is absolutely broken on Swain if the situation is right, and also Abyssal Mask has really good synergy if you team has AP. Also, I prefer the attack speed over ability haste, but that's personal preference. (It also helps a lot with conq - I play in relatively low elo, so the greedy scaling on swain is what wins me games))
Great guide, Mr. Shok; as always. Are you making a guide on Azir soon. I love to play him but I always get confused about Runes, when and why to pick him, etc... I also feel like I should be punished harder for how poor I play my early levels... Would be much appreciated, keep up the great work!

Both are good, Q start is good for pushing lane and harassing melees or to defensively trade vs other low CD mages. E start is better if you're gonna concede prio anyway and just want to start stacking early

I think you can blind it, definitly in the mid/lower elo region. It's quite the uncommon pick, so people have little experience against it. If you are skilled in her combos you will do really well imo
Any changes to runes or items in S13? Phase Rush still better than Conq? Liandries still seems standard to me but curious as to what you think about the Jak'sho + Abyssal Mask build for more tankier needs

There really isn't any good Irelia guide so if Shok makes one that be great, she's very "feel" oriented like Yasuo so after you learn basic combos you have to play 50-70 games to get a hang of her before you can start expressing skill. If you're an intuitive player she's great and you can learn from watching Irelking. Generally though, her lane goes like this: get shoved in wait for level 3 then land E and all in. You can hide E in a minion that you dash/kill with Q then E2 to stun enemy, Q them to consume mark, auto once at least maybe 2 or 3 then Q again and run down. Ideally bait out flash before using final Q. Irelking actually has a vid with tips, the title isn't clear so I can try and find it here.
Call me an idiot but I built Nashor's Tooth on Swain in 3 games and I carried all of them. Probably because of the massive AP it gives in the early game.

@@ShokLeague hey man, I tried playing Swain yesterday and my gameplay improved so much, the tutorial helped like soooooo much, thank you. Also I think how it works now is that if an enemy gets eliminated (nearby indeed) that they drop a soul fragment and u have to go get it (like a Thresh soul)
I can't deal with the viktor matchup to save my life. At least with ori and syndra if you have fancy feet you can dodge all of their stuff but vikor has undodgable poke with an incredibly long range E AND he gets a shield on top of that, oh and he can just stun you if you ever e him. Idk i feel like that champ is unbeatable in lane unless you are a high kill threat assasin or earlygame champ. Point and click poke drives me nuts.
Yeah Viktor is a very tough matchup, he does lack kill pressure though so even if you fall down in CS a bit as long as you don't die at least you can be kinda useful
I just think scorch in general isn't that worth it on Swain, maybe you could do it in melee matchups but normally you just can't proc it enough to be worth it

Bro I just played against swain, I cannot understand duration of his ult, I waited like 30 seconds, he killed all my teammates and it still didn't end. And his ult heals him even under turret with me spinning on him as Garen, mind you we had same number of items and I was as fed as him. I mean wtf man, how can he have unlimited duration on something that powerful.
I have a question, when I play mage vs melee, I can deny oponet from cs, but I even loss more cs than them( last hit problem), now I can solve this problem and feel much better, but I dont still understand why there are the different, is it such big gap between when I have 15cs while the opoent has 30cs???
Not really, LB has really long cooldowns and a lot of burst but she isn't very good at trading early. She's strong early game because of her gank setup but not because of her 1v1 and she will lose to any lane bully.
Normally you don't get any ganks nor a hovering jungler. Always expect their jungler is constantly in your lane, and that you always have to help your team since they cannot win their own lane.
Question: do you still think first strike orianna is the way? Rank 1s seem to still be running aeri/phase rush. But i have been having success with first strike in low diamond
How do you feel about Abyssal Mask to get some tank stats and at the same time dealing a bit more damage? is it just not worth it? cuz with Abyssal and Sorcerer's Shoes you get up to 40ish magic pen.

This rework was ridiculous. I played mid Swain before it and top Swain back in like S4 and the buff wasn't necessary imo but MAN is it FUN

They are both pretty good, revitalize better for longer fights and overgrowth better for shorter fights (to stop you getting bursted)

I think these days it's better to go TP ghost and drop the phase rush, and then like you said you can go conq or aery

You can rush Rylai over mandate but I wouldn't rush it over Liandry. Never tried moonstone swain personally

It ends quickly if you go away from him.

16 cs or so is roughly equal to a kill so it definitely adds up if you miss a lot of CS
