Thats seriously cool, one of the better builds and more actually useful builds I have seen on the net. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the workshop remodel. Hope it works out and look forward to seeing the new wrokshop version 2.0
Mate time & time again you prove why you’re Australia’s number 1 TH-cam Maker of informative how to videos & I see some clowns from overseas hitting big subscriber numbers on a video when they nearly cut there fingers off on a Tablesaw 😱 that’s just ridiculous but I’m backing you all the way. Keep on creating Gold standard woodworking & if size matters you’ve smashed the box office down 🧐🤠🇦🇺👍
Nice build. Not into filming, so don't need a boom, but nice to watch different ideas and techniques. As to the Magnifier / Lamp... I have one permanently set up for the same reason. Have you noticed Kuffy wares gloves very often. I don't know if this is to avoid splinters or he just has delicate hands.. Just kidding Kuffy.
Up to the standard as always. I made a jib mounted on an industrial lighting stand. It allows me to set up anywhere as I don't have a dedicated space and although I can make it work for me I was trying to be clever and built in a design flaw. I must get round to showing what I did and why it is wrong. I'm pleased you were able to demonstrate that splinters would be in your hand, TBH, that's as far as my speculation wanted to go.
Simple and effective. John Heisz Matthias Wandel and lots of others have made sanders etc. but YOURS is the quietest. Your motors are fantastic. The camera booms they have made aren't any more effective and usually shorter. Great work.
Thanks very much. my intention was to use lock nuts but in the video i used standard nuts because thats all i had at the time . i just thought i would replace them later but after using the boom for a few months now i have found that the nuts dont loosen over time at all
Finding a decent spot for the camera is always a challenge for me. I built an overhead camera mount but I think your design is far superior. Good job mate. All the best.
Nice victor, very simple design but very useful. I had though about making something on the ceiling but because of my lights I’ve put it off, as moving my tripod back and forward is a bit of a pain with the space I have, so might get around to making something similar on my ceiling, I’ve already got the parallelogram arm on my tripod so I just need to makeup the bracket and fixture for it on my ceiling. But I like how you’ve got yours on the beam that’s holding your house lol. Good video brother.
Thanks very much Darren. i'm very lucky to have those RSJs in the workshop, they're perfect for this. I hear you brother, it is a pain moving a tripod around particularly in a small shop
Thanks Drew. I’m relying on the friction between the parts to stop the boom arm dropping when extended out. I think washers would have meant the bolts would need to be overtightened
Very Nice build. How do you make belts from those belt rolls at 3:50? That would be a great followup for the belt grinder vid. Any tips on them would be really welcome!
Thank you Catilane. Actually that scene in the video is a little deceiving ( i noticed it when i watched it back). those rolls of sandpaper are for my large drum sander, i need to find a spot to store them. i bought the belts for the grinder off ebay i think.
theres a fair few of these designs now that Ive looked around, and the absolutely garbage lamp i got from the hardware shop for parts will go nicely into your preferred design... Long enough, and spring loaded for that length... good job also, that gantry you've made is gold...
yeah it works great John, and because the tension at the joints is spread over 4 points of contact rather than one with my old boom they dont need to be cranked down too hard making it smoother
How much weight would you guess that can hold fully extended. I have a microphone that weights about 2 pounds. Will that hold, and still be adjustable ?
i only use it for my iPhone so can't really say how much it will hold. i adjust the boom by tightening the nuts at the joints whenever it needs it. The mechanism is very rudimentary. There are a few videos on YT showing some great camera boom builds.
Boom 💥. That spring really makes it sturdy. Good one Vic 👍
Thanks Suj. i dont really have a way of knowing how much it helps but it feels like they do and they look cool anyway
Great simple build but extremely useful. Thanks for the idea.
No worries Tony, thanks for watching and commenting

Thanks very much mate, i'm sure it will all work out well, just hope it doesn't take too long

Thanks very much mate, it is what it is.... and you're definitely my No.1 supporter
Aussie Ingenuity at it's finest !!✅
Thanks Wally.
great new camera boom and it really folds great good job vic
Thanks Daniel, it was due for an upgrade.
Very good work master. Your construction teaching is fantastic. Congratulations.
Thank you very much 👍🏼
Constantly moving a tripod does eat into your productivity, so well worth it but it also looked like a lot of fun to make. Cheers.
thats very true Mathew and they just get in the way too much as well. thanks mate
Simple but elegant and well-executed. The splinter lamp is surely a must-have for every workshop.
Thank you very much. yes the splinter lamp is so good
Nice 👌I liked how you picked the idea from lamp and scaled it up.
Thanks mate. As they say, no point trying to reinvent the wheel. Go with what works.
That's a great boom. Nice work.
@@GettingNegative Thanks very much 👍🏼
This worked so well for me. Thank you
Great to hear that Stephan 👍
Nice work.
Thanks, glad you liked it
Very impressive. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thank you very much Glen and same to you
Nice, does this mean more videos?
yes, the videos are still coming Simon. Thanks mate

Thanks Peter. Yeah that magnifier has helped out a few times 👍🏼
Bloody Brilliant. Thanks for sharing mate.
No problem Kerry, very happy that you liked it. Thanks for watching 👍
That's pretty slick!!! I think I am going to have to copy your idea!!! Thanx for posting!!! :)
No worries mate, Go for it!
Good I'm happy to watching your videos thank you
Thank you very much Chakir
Nice build, I need something like this.
Thank you very much
Great build. I often wondered at the dentist how their cantilevered light works but the lamp is a much better idea.
Thanks Ben and thanks for watching and commenting

Fantastic job, your channel always has great ideas which you put into practical purposes Thanks for sharing Vic
My pleasure Simon. Thank you very much
Nice work Vic. Thanks as usual
no worries Glyn, thank you for watching and commenting

Thanks Clyde. the belt grinder motor is a DC motor from a treadmill which means its almost silent and very smooth
this is awesome. What a great idea
Thank you, glad you think so mate
I need this in my shop!
Note to self watch, learn build!
Regards James
One Handed Maker
Haha, thanks James, its definitely handy but im lucky to have two RSJs in my garage, its not a common thing in homes where i live
Great setup mate 👍🇦🇺
Thanks ver much Mark
Beautiful 😊
Thank you 😊
Nice build, well done. Thought you might have used Lock nuts on the joints .. might provide better tension on the brackets. Thx for sharing.
Thanks very much. my intention was to use lock nuts but in the video i used standard nuts because thats all i had at the time . i just thought i would replace them later but after using the boom for a few months now i have found that the nuts dont loosen over time at all
Well done
Thank you Tom
Finding a decent spot for the camera is always a challenge for me. I built an overhead camera mount but I think your design is far superior. Good job mate. All the best.
Thanks Brian, its a great improvement on the old one
Nice work mate
Thanks very much Ash
Boom shake shake shake the workshop... 🤔 A bit of extra reach never goes astray! No surgery needed 😆
Yeah, it’s great James. Combined with the two axis movements of the beam trolley I can literally get to every corner of the shop 👍🏼
Nice victor, very simple design but very useful. Nice one.
Surprised there weren't any washers in between the plates and arms.
Thanks Drew. I’m relying on the friction between the parts to stop the boom arm dropping when extended out. I think washers would have meant the bolts would need to be overtightened

Nice one! I was thinking about those kinds of arms a while back and was wondering how well they could be scaled up. Happy to see it works well.
yeah it works great John, and because the tension at the joints is spread over 4 points of contact rather than one with my old boom they dont need to be cranked down too hard making it smoother
Nice build! Another upgrade to add to my to do list! 🤤
Haha, happy to keep adding to that list for you Joe. thanks mate
Boom arm, Italian version. 😏
Yes mate, we just do bigger and better

SWEET
Thanks Bruce
Can you tell me how did you made that moving rail?
Yes mate, I made a video about it. th-cam.com/video/-W6mJGol53c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GhE2aiNhoLd1GoLJ
wow!
Thank you, glad you liked it
parabens pode fornecer o link para downloads dos desenhos de corte e furação, obrigado
Thank you for watching. Sorry but I don’t do plans, almost everything I build is made as I go straight out of my head.
