I’m a young francophone from Louisiana and have many Acadian ancestors from down in Grand-Pré and Port Royal. I also have Scottish ancestors (although they never set foot in Nova Scotia). I’ll be in N.S. for the Congrès Mondial Acadien in 2024, and I so hope to make it up to Cape Breton when we go. If we do, we’ll definitely stop by the Highland Museum! Our two cultures, Acadians and Gaels, have fought to keep our languages alive, and I wish y’all only the best in upholding the renowned ways of your ancestors! 💙🤍

You will love Cape Breton! I am 50 percent Scottish and also have Acadian in me as my great grandmother maiden name was Gallant a Descendant from the great Michal Hache Gallant!

I'm 45 years old, and visited for the first time this fall... I can say I am sorry I didn't visit sooner.. I had such a lovely time!!!

Hi Brandon - that is a called a milling frolic! It is the practice of pounding and fulling woven cloth in order to felt the fibres together. We'll be releasing a video tomorrow explaining Milling more thoroughly ... watch for it on our channel!
Is this a village to visit?
Yes! The Highland Village is located in Iona, on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Canada. It is definitely worth a visit :)

So you think we just left ? We werent violently and brutally kicked off our lands ? No ..we just fancied a wee holiday abroad .... this is nice but its so passive gael that its painful . We need to start telling what actually happened .
