I needed this lesson today. Just been struggling recently with feelings of shame and unworthiness... as in how could God really love the person that I am. Would appreciate prayers for that. Thank you for your commitment to ministry in it's many forms Jon!
Seems to be a popular struggle for lots of people. i like to think of it as, if i believe i'm worthless, how much am i disrespecting God by saying that about one of his creations?

This week has been a week of cleaning up around where I work. I live in Florida, and God blessed me and all of my loved ones with minimal damage. It's been good outwardly, not so much inwardly. I just need to start spending more time with my bible. I hope you are having a fantastic week ^-^ Keep being awesome.

I got so excited when you said we were going through four sections today 😁 my week so far has been good and relaxing. my everyday life is usally very busy. We have fall break from school!
I love these videos, they really help me. My week is going pretty swell but I have midterms. I've already failed one semester of college due to a bad path I took while away at my university. Now that I go to community college close to home and recommitted my life to Christ, things have been better. I'm still scared about school though. I've asked my boyfriend to pray for me and I've been trying really hard but I have such trouble concentrating and then I get anxious during test time. I could definitely use the prayers right now.
I am praying for this new path you are on. I have confidence that God is with you and guiding you along the way. Keep following him. Keep being awesome!
Ask God to help you do this to the best of your ability for His glory, and thank Him for giving you the very mind of Christ (1Cor. 2:16). Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you about you what have been taught or studied, to teach you all things, and to show you things to come, and to give you into all Truth (John 14:26; 16:13). Then learn to cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you (1Pet. 5:7). Don't be anxious about anything but give everything to Him in prayer (Phi. 4:6). When you are writing learn to relax and stop stressing because stress and worry is what causes your mind to go blank. Allow the perfect love of God to cast out all fear (1 John 4:18) and trust that the Holy Spirit will help you because He loves you.
This really helped me in my school career and with God's help I had an average of 98%.
Thanks for the message today! These verses hadn't made much sense to me before, but I feel like I got a lot more out of them this time!
And my week has been good so far; I've gotten to spend time with my sister and best friends after a solid week without them, and I'm getting back into the rhythm of praying and reading The Word and listening to more uplifting music. I had a total stranger pray for my situation with my future husband this week and my struggle trusting that what God has revealed to me directly and through one of my best friends is true and that I can trust Him to take care of me.

God is making this week full of good cheer for me. I consume what I can manage from Him, enjoy myself and give Him thanks and praise for it. It was also great to attend a talk on Holiness and Devotion by Mick Brooks at the church. Tired as I am at the end of the day, God refreshes me. It is good to rest in Him.

Sarah Kate Smith I have been exactly like this Hun. I have a very big event coming up in a few weeks that can either be good for my life or bad depending on which way it swings and I've been feeling really anxious and worried about it. I totally know how you feel because sometimes our circumstances can swallow us up and spit us out but please let us both try to remember that God only has good plans and intentions for our lives and no plans to harm us so whatever we're going through we will get to the other side of it as long as we lean on gods word and promises. I know it's not always easy to remember because I struggle myself but let's pray for each other that god may help us with what we're going through x

this is amazing. i am a prayer leader on my hall at my school I go to, and every week, leadership on my hall has a small group meeting. today I was about to do my quiet time, so i pulled out my Bible and computer, and for some reason I typed in youtube. this video was the first one I saw so instead of continuing in Romans, I did my reading on this. legitimately last night in my small group we talked about spiritual discipline. maybe God's telling me I need to discipline myself more. great video!

This video makes perfect sense! It's such a good reminder to me. My week has been productive but stressful as I fill out college applications and practice for college music auditions. I need scholarships to go to the schools I want to, but I am trusting that God will work things out no matter the school I go to.... I am hoping I will continue to trust in that.
College apps can be tough. I will pray for God's perseverance, but overwhelming piece that he is in control of the future. keep being awesome.

love this chapter so much! I definitely need it to read this because I've been struggling so much lately. My mom makes me feel so invalid saying that she never sees me read the bible or pray, which I DO! I felt so confused because why would she want to see me do all these things when she's not God? Am I doing these things for her or to grow spiritually? Glad I decided to read this and understand how doing God's will in private is 100x than doing it in public. Thank You for your great explanation!

Great topic and well said man, we should always examine our hearts to make sure our focus is on God and not on ourselves. And as for my week so far, I'm trying discipline myself and go to the gym and not eat lots of delicious sugar cereal all day.

Wow, this is something I am struggling with. This opened my eyes. I want that people think good of me, but that's not the point. It's about God. I often do things for the recognizing of others. That makes me feel good for a little while, but I have to do it again and again.. and it's not worth it. God is the one that will give it to me. Thanks!
i honestly loved this chapter so much this week had started off so bazzar and well just plain bad and it Is just amazing how the word of God opens up your eyes to not just see what can be seen with the eyes but see beyond that see beyond the situation we are dealing with and that is just great the word of God truly helps when struggling with our faith and well just everything honestly. God Is great, I hope who ever stumbles upon this comment I hope your day goes lovely and I hope you know that God loves you so much and that you deserve all good that comes your way, God bless

I couldn't pause reading this chapter as I felt led straight thru that pretty red script. Jesus words and lessons spoke to my heart as I let go of professional aspirations due to long term illness and grapple with the shame of being sick. What a blessed lesson as I realized my heart has not changed, my value in my Lords eyes is not determined by such temporary achievements. My value has not changed at all. May I have the opportunity to pass on the blessing. Thanks, Jon!

This week has been pretty average but I have been quite tired and unfulfilled I'd say. I'm thinking about starting a channel to post short, very short, sermons but I've just lacked energy to do this and my school work which I have barely done. I'm hoping to try and turn this around and start being more productive. My mum is going to Tanzania for a school link project on Saturday so prays for a safe journey and healthy experience would be very gratefully received. -Rach

There is an amazing book "Forgotten God" by Francis Chan discussing similar topics as in this ADITW. Currently busy with it and this sermon fitted in perfectly. Would definitely recommend the book!

My week was great because I went on vacation. Then went sour when I found out my step grandad has cancer in most of his vital organs. If you could pray for him, that would be great. Not 100% sure if He has accepted Jesus so I'm praying that he will. Thanks for the video. It helped me get back on track with my bible reading.

been feeling I'm at a turning point in life at this moment kinda the choosing points where I'm trying to leave a old life and start new again however things have become rough and getting to where I want to be spiritually isn't there I just began watching your videos and have seen little changes but I don't want to live a life that's luke warm in a sense i want to be on fire for the Lord it's just it's been so long since I've been connected to Him it scares me to come back cause I'm so use to living a life relying on myself and idk where to go from here.

I visited the States [Atlanta] during summer and I got a real culture shock in my church experiences. I managed to visit 4 [Non Denomination ones] and only one of them was really mixed in terms of racial diversity. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be that way. Would love some insight on that. What do Americans look for in a church?

JonJorgenson yes, how does God heals? Since it is by grace through faith we receive healing, what do we need to do since it's not by effort, then what about taking the "step of faith" as an "effort" since grace is given and not by performance, it contradicts so much I'm confused.
Hey Jon! My week is going pretty okay. My two sisters had gotten into an argument and now are being rude to each other, which sucks! My older sister really mistreated my younger sister so I didn't want to help her go grocery shopping, but she doesn't have a vehicle right now so I felt like God was telling me to go and do it. Though I felt really irritated towards her I felt like even if she's mistreating others, I showed her love. It's hard when you're upset with someone, but it's very much worth it.

my week was great
I've been having some self argument lately about taking a stand and heeding to the Lord's calling in being a leader for the Youth Ministry. mainly because I don't find myself worthy of the role. Yet Ironically I end up doing such responsibilities since I long for revival and wish to raise up Radical, God-fearing young people especially in this generation. But this had me re evaluating myself again, because I'm so afraid to stand in front of so many people and do lip service and do "Chritianese" things like a hyprocrite, since there would be times I will realize that, it was not him I am raising up, rather it was and may have likely been my ego. I feel like I'm guilty of this too many times. Oh and many thanks for the reminder, I'd like to take this in as a challenge rather than getting me down lol. I really need a good dose of rebuking really. 😭😭😭

I remember Moses' conversation with the Lord and how he tends to put up excuses and even Jeremiah, when he said that he was only a boy to speak among the people. Both of them had a very close encounter with Him, yet Human as they can be, doubt and anxieties tend to come in first...which was very relatable haha. I might share the video the youth core group because I think we've been struggling with the same thing 😥 😂 thank you so much Jon! I pray that Jesus will bless your ministry even more. 🙏😊

This week has been pretty good. God has really been convicting me this week. I really just need to trust His plan. This is especially hard for me and I don't know why. It's hard for me to wrap my head around this. Any suggestions?
I like how you skipped over the Our Father, which is singled out most of this chapter. As well as the passage about God's our Provider. Both essentially echo this same message; do not try to provide for yourself - gather treasures - but instead in our Father in Whom we should put our faith.

Jon, your videos have changed my life and have brought me closer to God ever since I started watching them, but this one REALLY changed me. I've been struggling with so many self-confidence issues for the past few years, and I tried to form a strong relationship with God but it was just hard. We were learning something similar to the lesson in this video in Theology class awhile ago, and then for some reason I just decided to watch this video. Honestly I believe God's timing was perfect as soon as I watched this. I'm still working on my self-confidence, but now I feel my relationship with God is stronger than ever:D Jon, you are such a blessing to this world and to TH-cam, and I see God speak through you in all your videos. hey Jon how do you know when you are doing something for yourself or God? I mean praying out loud to maybe open up a meeting you do use a more formal language as oppose to when you're alone.

i think it's a constant checking of your motives. looking within and asking, "God, who is this for?"
