Day 1: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab - The Beginning of an Enchanting Journey
The trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab marks the perfect start to the Kedarkantha adventure, blending scenic beauty with an exciting trail. Beginning from the quaint village of Sankri (6,400 ft), the journey immediately immerses you in the pristine charm of Uttarakhand's wilderness.
The trail is a moderate ascent through dense pine and oak forests, where the crisp mountain air rejuvenates your senses. Along the way, you'll encounter serene streams and occasional clearings offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The chirping of birds and rustling leaves provide a tranquil backdrop, making each step feel like a retreat into nature.
After approximately 4 kilometers (4-5 hours) of trekking, you arrive at Juda Ka Talab (9,100 ft), a stunning high-altitude lake surrounded by towering pine trees. In winter, the lake partially freezes, creating a magical, picture-perfect scene. The campsite here is equally captivating, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and a starlit sky at night.
