    i know this video is from 2013, however i'm just seeing it for the first time. after reviewing tons of cutting videos, this guy is the first person is all these years to explain it clearly and have it make sense.

    Awesome THANK YOU! Best explanation of how haircutting works! Several of your videos should be obligatory during hairdressers’ training. I am from Europe and I got the feeling that in Europe your average, basic hairdresser cuts much better than here. I am pretty sure their training takes longer. Americans are good in styling. But a good cut looks good even without styling. Average men’s hair cuts are even worse here bc a bad cut is more obvious. Average Americans could look so much better with good hair cuts! I hope many hairdressers watch this. In that case you are doing a great service to the public!

    Adding texture to my own hair and this helps so much! I have the sides of my head shaved and wear it off to one side so I couldn't figure out how to add texture the way I need to.
    Going to go with the horizontal route. Thanks so much again!!

      We would recommend that you locate a Redken Artist in your area. Most Redken Artists have attended extensive training with Sam Villa himself or with the techniques that Sam uses. They are highly skilled and they will be able to help with your hair / any hair challenges!
      You can use the link below to locate a Redken Stylist or a Redken Elite Salon in your area!

    So does internal texture give volume? Love the explanation and I am not a stylist.

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a pretty complicated answer actually :-) It can do both depending on how it is done... if the pieces are small and fine, it will most likely just soften and reduce weight. To create internal texture the boosts volume, it must be pretty deliberate.

    would've appreciated seeing at least one example so I'd have a rough idea of how I might do it... how far apart are the cuts? how many? how much to cut, etc. I'm sure a lot of that is preference, but it's pretty hard to guess without ever seeing it..
