I’m here for the books but I enjoy watching you cook very much. And cleaning too! I learn so much from your videos.
A couple of years ago I went to Haworth for the weekend for a Charlotte Brontë themed weekend . A couple of friends and I stayed in a cute cottage nearby in winter. It was a wonderful trip. We visited the Brontë’s home and garden, the magical village of Haworth, walked to the Brontë waterfalls and the mist started rolling in so it felt very atmospheric! In the evening we watched Wuthering Heights. As it was winter it was really cosy and we took turns cooking and sat with cups of tea with blankets on the sofa in the evening. I highly recommend visiting!
I have also been to Stratford upon Avon many times as I don’t live far. I’ve been to the Shakespeare houses and seen several plays. I’ve also been for their Shakespeare festivals during the summer that takes place by the river. I always forgot how pretty it is there.
Was in london a couple of weeks ago and bumped into Gary Oldman in full slow horses outfit after filming a scene in the city. He was very nice 😊
I've been to the Baltic Sea this summer and went to Lübeck for a day. I had wanted to visit it since 2013 because I had read "Buddenbrooks" by Thomas Mann in my German class. When I was in Lübeck I went to the exhibition about this book as well as to a museum about another German author. That day out was the highlight of my whole holiday.😊
Had a few days in Haworth, Yorkshire to follow in the footsteps of the Brontes. Loved it so much have done it twice!!

Please use the back of the knife to scrape the garlic off chopping board. It'll keep your knives sharper for longer :)
I've loved taken taking a few literary based trips over the years - The first time I was 20 and visited Haworth (home of the Brontës) since then I've been to Dorset to visit Thomas Hardy's cottage, Hampshire to visit Jane Austen's house, Whitby to see the Abbey that inspired Dracula, Fowey and Jamaica Inn (Daphne du Maurier territory), and Manchester to visit Elizabeth Gaskell's home. Most recently I went to Stratford upon Avon, obviously to bask in all things Shakespeare!
It was only when you mentioned it that I realised I missed last week's Hit List! Must watch it on catch up. Love that show (my gf hates it though!)

I find Apple TV really good 😌 would highly recommend Presumed innocent, it’s an American legal thriller television series adaptation from the 1987 novel of the same name. There also was a film adaptation made in 1990 💕
While on vacation in Boston a few years ago, we took a trip to Concord and visited Sleepy Hallow Cemetery where authors like the Alcotts, Ralph Waldo Everyone, and Henry David Thoreau are buried. We ended the day at Orchard House, where Louisa May Alcott lived and set Little Women. It was a wonderful day!
Just came back from a weekend away in Hay on Wye. Loved every minute. Just glad we drove cus we would not have been able to lug all the books back on the train
As well as the usual England little trips like Whitby while reading Dracula / Yorkshire for the Brontes etc. I was lucky enough to marry a Canadian and convince him that we needed to go to PEI on one of our trips back to see his family last year! We went out of season so there was nothing going on but we still got to see green gables and walk through the haunted wood! It was delightful and I fully recommend it 😁

I've never been on a literary-themed trip, but I think I've toured a couple of authors' houses when I was nearby. Unfortunately, I can't remember who at the moment. Maybe Longfellow? Also, the college I went to has a collection called the Wade Center, which houses C.S. Lewis's wardrobe and J.R.R. Tolkien's writing desk, among other memorabilia of the Inklings.
As far as Apple TV goes, if you've never had it before, does that mean you've never seen Ted Lasso? Severance is, indeed, very good, as is For All Mankind, although I don't know how into sci-fi you are. There is an adaptation of Lessons in Chemistry on there, though, that does seem like something you might enjoy. You might also like to check out Coda, the movie that won Best Picture at the Oscars a couple of years ago! Oh, and I can't forget Come From Away, which is a filmed stage version of a musical about all of the planes that had to land in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming, all at the same time, and I highly recommend it!
So I’ve never heard of halloumi, just googled it to know what it is (didn’t know it was cheese!) Apparently it’s not a thing in the US, kinda hard to even find. Sounds delicious!

Certainly have enjoyed the odd literary based day trip, some have already been mentioned in the comments. However, one place I enjoyed visiting with my mother years ago was the D H Lawrence birthplace museum in Eastwood Nottingham. Not sure if you have had Apple TV before or not so apologies if you had, but I really enjoyed the series Ted Lasso. Also I have started a series called Dickinson on Apple, which is a comedy about the poet Emily Dickinson. Noticed lessons in chemistry has been adapted for Apple so that might be good as it was a really good read, and the essex serpent but I still need to read this.

I enjoyed your thoughts on Strictly. I won't be watching this year because, allegations apart, I think it has morphed into a different show from the one it was originally. It used to be an entertainment programme with the experiences of the celebrities at its core. I now feel that it has become a serious competition with winning at all costs as the main aim. The standards and expectations are so high from week one. It's sad because I've watched it right from the start.😢
Never took an actual all out vaca dedicated to literature and authors. But I have taken weekend always or day trips centered around lit. I grew up in the Hudson River and between school trips and on my own I’ve seen most all the sites. Including Sleepy Hollow, Sunnyside, Washington Irving’s home, and many NY city sites. I enjoy visiting literature related sites.
I'm going on a day out to Haworth in September to revisit bronte land. I'm so looking forward to it x

Have you guys tried pecan pie? In Texas it is a Thanksgiving staple. No fruit! If you both like candied nuts, it might be worth trying. You are in for a treat with Severance. Right now I am enjoying Time Bandits and Lady in the Lake. I still need to get to Queenie on Hulu/Disney+.
Love the fruit cobbler definitely a desert I would love but such a shame like you said if it cheaper to buy than make. Such a sour taste too about strictly I can't bring myself to believe Amanda and Zara though i dont know if it just by their past comments or their behaviour after the show it doesn't sit right with me but yeah definitely agree people should speak up if feel unsafe at work. As for a literary holiday I was lucky to be treated to a trip to Hay on Wye for a few days for my 40th birthday and got to spend birthday pennies in the many bookshops xx

I don't live in the Uk but I do watch Strictly every year, since 2016, and this year it all feels a bit underwhelming. I'm usually super excited to see the celeb reveals but when I saw them recently I didn't know anyone except for the comedian who's blind and some other person that I can't remember now. The rest are all completely unknown to me which is unusual because I'm well versed in british telly and culture. I don't know. It's like... you know when you have a favourite t shirt that you wear constantly and one day it gets stained and you can't wear it anymore? It feels odd. Especially being on their 20th anniversary series... It's like they're all making a huge effort to look excited (judges, hosts, pro dancers) and as if nothing's happened. Got me thinking, every time a celeb is voted off and leaves on each episode, how they emphasize how marvellous everyone in the show is. Were they faking it? Forced to say that? I will watch it, obviously, but something's broken in my perception of the show. Besides I'm all alone here watching, I can't fangirl with anyone. It's always a bit weird haha.
