As long as everyone understands it would take me like a solid week to put something solid together, I'm very excited to make those future analyses from full trailers!
N64 and GameCube each had their own art style for characters. Ever since the Wii the characters have been pretty much the same until now with no major changes. I'd be 100% down for a new artstyle for the Mario games on Switch 2. it will be VERY refreshing. I think Mario Wonder was a glimpse at a new start for Mario going forward.
Man this is the reason im getting a Switch 2 , how long did we have to wait till Mario Kart 9 , 11 YEARS. Yes you heard me right, Mario Kart 8 was realeased In 2014 , This was worth the wait of Mario Kart 9 , Tris Valbuena / ToonTris , you just got a new sub.
Totally on the right spot, I always WANTED Mario Kart 9 and I THOUGHT It was Mario Kart Tour or Home Circuit , but here it is with a new Console , you also tris got a sub.
The new boost panel design is very reminiscent of the MKWII item boxes, love that. Super excited to finally get another Mario Kart entry after all this time!
18:40 Maybe the bag is a collectable? You can get more Kart parts by finding all of the "Gear Bags" or something. It could just be one of a few on the track. The rest could be hidden, encouraging exploration in these courses. I don't know. Just a fun idea I had. Great video!
This is easily the best analysis of this footage I've seen! Seemingly nobody else has even noticed the anti-grav section in the background. The scale of these tracks looks way bigger than anything we've seen before. I think being able to see large distances away is going to be a big feature of this game. Just imagine how far you can see when you're on the anti-grav section. One thing that has me curious is the big spotlights right in front of the starting line. I don't think they'd be that prominent if they weren't going to be used, could there be time of day stuff?
My theory is that the concept of "tracks" is going to be totally changed. I think that there will be 8 "Maps", each with 4 "tracks" on them, explaining the fenced off sections of MB Circuit, with more maps being added over time.
@@_frankiefreak_I agree that would suck. Any less than 16 nitro maps and 16 retro maps just won't cut it. I'm all for having multiple tracks per nitro map though, but 16 is the absolute minimum imo. I'm wondering if we're going back to the SNES, GBA or even Tour days of having something like Mario Bros. Circuit 1, 2 and 3 for example. 48 individual nitro tracks on 16 maps and 16 retros would be cool.
What a great analysis, Tris! Thank you! The possibility of an attack button has me very excited, I hope it's true. Now the wait until that April Direct seems even longer Looking forward to more deep dives from you!
A few considerations and ideas: -I think the long stretch of road is very odd and doesn't really look fun to drive on, so I suspect that relates to a potential new gimmick that would make it more interesting, which could have been hidden for the trailer (like how I doubt there's ONLY one row of item boxes in the whole track despite the fact we only see one). If I had to come up with SOMETHING I could theorize there might be special boost pads that MASSIVELY increase your speed until you reach the end of the road, maybe a bit like the blue fire pads in Crash Team Racing. -All vehicles look the same size independently from the character being used. Since that's probably harder to develop than the alternative, I suspect they did that to avoid having people choose a character over another simply for having different hitboxes, AND, if their goal is to let players pick characters they like regardless of their hitboxes, I ASSUME they might've removed character/vehicle stats entirely, possibly replacing them with a simpler "engine type" like, again, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled. -The fast food bag is the most interesting thing to me and I'm super curious about what it might do. It might be a special track-exclusive item, a box with a special item pool like the one in Luigi Raceway and DK Pass or something entirely new. A very cool (although unlikely) idea I've seen online is that it might trigger a special "quest" where you have to pick up the bag and bring it to an npc on the side of the road or something. Maybe the hypothetical "attack button" might be a way to steal the bag from other players?
Great points about the long straightaway and vehicle sizes! I didn't even notice that most of the karts seem to be about the same size. Though I don't see them getting rid of weight classes and individual character stats personally, I think that's a fascinating idea to change things up from the previous Mario kart games.
@@ToonTris Maybe it's just cope on my part because I don't like weight classes at all lol, I almost only play Inkling Girl and I always feel like I'm being held back by having mediocre stats
18:40 The bag is very intriguing indeed. Maybe there are special items to collect in the tracks similar to the keys in Diddy Kong Racing. That is assuming we get some sort of Diddy Kong Racing adventure mode. 🤔
1:49 It kinda Looks like Baby Mario’s Kart is using the same tyres as Rosalinas snow mobile. So I think Kart customisation will likely return (Also, I could be totally wrong about Baby Mario’s Tyres, they just really similar)
1:12 For the last time people, Mario Wonder literally has no squash and stretch. Everyone's extremely stiff in that game, in fact. Just two different videogames utilize a cartoony style, it doesn't mean they look similar.
It will NEVER happen but something I would love to see in a new Mario Kart is a mode like Double Dash. Since 24 players can be on screen they can do a mode where it's 2 players in one vehicle but 12 karts.
“You may be wondering how I know this is a new Mario Kart” Anyone with a keen eye could tell. I mean, I’d say a new standard kart design on its own is enough to tell.
I love these analysis videos. You always pick up on details the dozen other analysis youtubers miss. Little things like the karts tipping and suggesting potential mechanics like kart jostling as an attack, from such small, blink and you'll miss it moments. As for that bag item outside yoshis diner maybe it is just a track collectible. Maybe it's tied to missions or achievements "Deliever one yoshi burrito to koopa troopa in fire flower gas station while coming first this race", although ive mainly only seen that kind of thing in f2p / live service games. Maybe it's a special track item, double dash had character items maybe this has track specific power ups. The fact it looks like a food bag suggests it is specific to this locale, unless other tracks have yoshi diners lol. Also there's a pink yoshi in the delivery window waving at the drivers. That's cute.
Baby Mario’s car kinda looks like the F1 car we got in MKWii & MK8 while Baby Peach’s looks like the sport car we got from MK8’s DLC (along with the BDasher). Hard to call with those though of course lol Great analysis video!
can't find where anymore but somewhere on the track there's a mushroom cup emblem, so this is gonna be the first track of the game. perhaps there won't even be a mario circuit in the flower cup to make room for other new ideas
Considering the other Tour characters were shortlisted in 8DX I think it’s a bet that Nabbit would come in alongside King Bob-Omb, Hammer Bro, Monty, Poochy & Chargin Chuck. Though obviously Dixie Kong would return as well but if she’s in then it’d be a safe bet that Diddy Kong would be returning as well due to how Nintendo favors Diddy immensely and how he’s always the other Kong in spin-offs with DK
Given how big this track looks I'm wondering if maybe they're going to feature several environments with different courses in them. Similar to how the SNES had Mario Circut 1, 2 and 3. Either that or it's more of that three laps but none are the same lap thing. Still, wouldn't be surprised at all if they took what they learned in Tour and The Booster Course Pack and realized that in a lot of cases they were using mostly textures and a few specific models here and there, so it made sense to just build out a much bigger playground with all those assets that can be reused without anyone noticing. Because this course definitely feels bigger than the tracks in 8. Definitely excited for this game.
Yeah it definitely feels really likely that we could see the "1, 2, 3" versions of tracks set in the same environment like SNES and Tour. Something about Mario Bros. Circuit just doesn't feel like it'll change each lap to me. But hey, maybe I'm wrong!
I'm kinda hoping we get a 'mario circuit' which is just the ring they divert from, a 'luigi circuit' which heavily involves the highway (reminding me of the one from I think Double dash?), and then the 'mario bros circuit' combines them
Great call on the swiping/tilting control. I think these wild bouncy physics will be THE defining feature of this game. In this regard I don’t think we’ll have antigrav ala MK8. People are tilting all over the place and I think we will feel that on huge turns like the one in the background. A much more realistic sense of physics that you have to work with. We will look back at how flat and static MK used to feel. And Thank you for dispelling the Wonder Seed talk- it’s clearly a spinning 3D bag. I mentioned the idea of track specific collectibles similar to Odyssey’s world-specific moons. Whatever it is, it’s important!
if the little front skis are part of the wheel customization, the kart itself looks like it can use other wheels too, don't give up hope yet on the customization!
Ngl, I dont really mind not having the customisation from 8 Deluxe. Tour had a ton of different cool designs and having well-designed looking cars is always a plus for me
Very interested how theyre gonna handle balancing 24 racers. I'm sure nintendo was considering "but is it Fun to be in like 19th?" for years and doubt theyd go forward with it unless they figured it out
I’m going to take a guess what the one item does- and that is whatever gives only Mario the air boost and nobody else. I know that doesn’t say much, but we see Mario get the air boost, and there’s a weird item, so not a crazy out there theory.
Great analysis video ! However, I still wonder, why do the drivers are racing in a single line in the final clip ? It striked when watching the first time, but I don't see this element mentioned in the conversation...
With 24 playable characters at once, I'm expecting at the bare minimum 48 characters from the go, at least 60 especially if we get new babies like wario, dk, bowser and eventually waluigi and most certainly pauline this time like we got Baby Rosalina back then, but if Spike isn't in, it's a no buy x)
I hope we get some new mechanic in this Mario Kart game and i hope it has 0 retro tracks given that MK8DX mostly focuses on retro tracks and outside of Mario Kart live home curcit we haven't had a single Mario Kart game that focused on Nitro courses, plus 24 player battle mode will be pure chaos.

to be fair, what applies to tech may not apply to games - we've had games like Mega Man 9 and Final Fantasy 9, after all! 9 has been used for games, it's just hard to say if it'll be used here.
