1 thing, always take about 3 HEAT rounds with you if you're playing on CQB maps. (Abandoned factory like maps) reason, you can kill open top vehicles through overpressure when shooting at walls right next to those vehicles. (especially when the open top is hiding behind a wall near a corner. just shoot over the wall and hit the one next to it.)
Honestly just take a few of any HE variant shell depending on what's got the most TNT equivalent, no matter the tank or map. (hell I'd even recommend it on longer maps more than CQB/urban maps.)
This reminds me of your shell guide video a couple years back, i remember when it was still lacking in views. Now? 1.4M views, way more than Warthunder's official shell guide video.
One thing I like to do that isnt mentioned here is I angle the turret on the tinger 2. Aim about 30 degrees to the left of the target (Sometimes less like 15 ish degrees if I know they have 200mm of pen or less). This exposes the weaker side of the turret, giving it about 170-180mm of effective armor, this is easily penetrated if they aim there, however APHE shells will occasionally only kill the loader with the explosion being blocked by the breach. It also stops APCR and HEAT shells from one shotting your rear turret ammo. Since they will no longer be able to hit it, again only killing the loader and probably the breach. People will also occasionally shoot your frontal turret plate anyways and when angled at 30 degrees that gives it a effective armor thickness of around 250mm, more if they also hit the mantlet. So it is unlikely any APHE shells will pen it when you do that. This trick has saved me many many times when used properly, you just have to know when to and when to not do it, since it can allow people who would otherwise not be able to penetrate you to be able to.
I don't think reducing the ammo count works anymore. They load the turret first either way so adding less round will just remove them from the hull, not from the turret. Unless they've changed it back to the original behaviour since the last year, as it was the last time I played this tank. Well, not this tank, the premium one, but I don't suppose it's different here.
it does help to a small extent. off the top of my head there are two separate ammo racks in the turret with a total capacity of 18 rounds, so only taking 9 rounds (assuming you're comfortable taking that small an amount of ammo) will leave one half of the turret free of ammo. not sure which half though
note, the british 17 pounder APDS can actually penetrate the king tigers hull within 70 meters, its almost always better to disable to tiger and if u shoot the turret it might overpen into the ammo and detonate it, though knowing that you can pen the front is usefull
6:34 This is because the automatic driver does not work as well as when you do it yourself. I would love if you could do a guide on the advantages of manual transmission and how they can make your tank both faster, more maneuverable, and more responsive. 6:53 Another problem solved when using manual transmission. On good terrain, even without roads, you can reach this maximum speed fairly often.
Tbh I preferred Tiger II (P) way more. The only good think H variant provides is harder turret armor (which can be easily penetrated anyways) at the cost of 0.4 more BR
Man nothing can beat the Power of the 8.8cm kwk 43 cannon it's just perfect with a very good pen and damage also the reload is very fast for such a cannon.
A good tank but I have a warning about it being uptiered 99% of the time meaning you have to face not only more heavily armored vehicles, but vehicles with weapons such as heat fs and atgms that completely nullify your armor
The only real downside of the Tiger II H is that everyone knows what part of the turret to hit. For example USA T34 armor isn't really any stronger but it's not as clear-cut where the weak area begins and ends.
@@HowToPlay1337 That's true but it's also all cast armor with 9% reduced effective thickness with additional weaker areas like the triangle above the mantlet, hull roof front corners, turret ring and the turret cheeks (rotating the turret just 5° makes those areas 180mm thick). The hull front is weaker as well with as little as 90mm in places if the lower half of the UFP is not hidden. Edit: What I meant by the Tiger's issue is that everyone has been shooting at the turret front since ground forces beta and the Tiger II is still the standard for most other tanks in its BR range to be compared to: can it tank long 88, can it defeat Tiger II armor etc.
hey, here he comes with a new video! nice to have you back!!! have stopped using this monster coz I've always been uptierred with it like 9 out of 10 times whenever I play it.. also disappointing to face ATGM armed light tanks everytime.. I hope gaijin creates a separate battle mode where only WW2 tanks and planes(I hate CAS) play each other...
A VERY VERY VERY BIG REASON to Use HE rounds is those Pesky M18's or Open top M36 tanks can be 1 shot with them or you don't even have to touch them with HE to kill them if the HE is H enough
that's a nice tank and video you got there, would be a shame if a russian IS variant penned the mantlet and frontal turret armor like it was aluminum. Yes that happened to me during the early days of war thunder ground battles, never came back after that
I have to say that the Tiger 2 10,5 is considerably better due to the magical engine, rangefinder, and extra loader. It will keep pace with most medium tanks and has a decent bit better performance against sloped armor. The extra chonky HE filler is nice, but not really worth time and a half the reload. I feel that the 10,5 Tiger 2 is one of the best heavy tanks BR for BR in the game as it uptiers much better than the 8,8 version due to the extra horsepower. Enough armor to make AP shells struggle, and enough maneuverability to surprise HEAT slinging mediums and UK APDS.
Out of all the guns in the long 88s weight class such as the long 90, Russian 100, Japanese 105 and the 20 pounder. I personally believe the long 88 is the best, besides the sabot on the 20 pounder the long 88 has the best penetration, muzzle velocity, and once again besides the 20 pound the best reload. The top Russian shell has less damage then the long 88 with the Br412d round even.
One of the best heavy tanks in the game, the problem is that after 6.7 your armor becomes irrelevant with the the increase in numbers of ATGMs and HEAT-FS.
Just saying but there is a 40mm plate behind the turret where the turret ring is meaning u are vulnerable to anything with 40mm of pen, so it is possible to kill a tiger 2h with a 20mm cannon from a crusader. I never did it but there is an old thundershow video of someone doing it. I only did it with a 40mm.
I'll be honest, that shell penetration is NOT average given the gun's caliber, reload speed and damage dealt at around 6.7 BR The only direct comparison is M6A2E1 and that thing takes noticeably longer to reload while being a somewhat rare sight Most other tanks at 6.7 that aren't German either have significantly less penetration or take ages to reload while also being subject to volumetric shenanigans on higher calibers
6:02 I would disagree with this statement. While true that the Tiger II has a very strong front hull plate, it is not invincible. There plenty of vehicles within it’s BR range that carry HEATFS, High penetration HEAT, missiles, and more powerful APDS rounds that can cut through the front plate of the Tiger II, therefore it can still be beneficial to play Hull down since you are exposing only your turret, making you harder to hit and spot, this would be more useful in up-tiers where armor negating rounds are more common.

Damn, that amx-13 fired his atgm TWICE over your head. You cant make that shit up.
In his defense those atgms are aimed up, so at close range you cannot hit anything below you.

Tbh I preferred Tiger II (P) way more. The only good think H variant provides is harder turret armor (which can be easily penetrated anyways) at the cost of 0.4 more BR

T34 has 200mm + 10mm(?) hidden armor. You cannot see it in armor view, but shot simulation shows round penetrating(or not :D) the hidden plate
