Cheers for the video, I have to replace the arm, on one of my 25+ year old 1210's, it took a knock years ago at a party, the arm was flopping about, like the arm one your deck, I did adjust it back again, as best as I could, but as they are calibrated at the factory, I would never be able to get it spot on.When I have a blank vinyl on, I can move the antiskate, backwards and forwards, without it making the slightest difference. I added rca outs to the bottom years ago and did away with the leads, after watching your video, I now feel comfortable with swapping mine. Also want to fit dipless pitch also.
+eur990 I believe it's from '86, quite good condition for its age. The previous owner didn't mention any issue but i don't think the transport caused it. If you see in the provided url there is a picture, the top screw is chipped off. I guess something happened with it and they 'fixed' by severely tightening it without proper knowledge and testing.
JaKeAFC09 Ahh ok ok i got it now, so the first owner touched that screw.. Probably because tonearm had acquired play so he tried to tighten the screw. You made the right thing replacing tonearm brand new... Is true, sometime if there is play on tonearm bearings (just play no damage) is possible resolve touching that screws but.. it's a short term solution as play means the tonearm has been stressed a lot so bearings quite worn. And anyway, when you touch those screws is impossible go back to factory setting; Bearings have a finish of +/- 0,5 micron for a 7mg friction.. Impossible recalibrate them with a screwdriver.. Those screws are made for a single calibration; the factory's one. (Anyway bad transport also can damage bearings.. Often who usually carry turntable in flycases or without right protection causes damage on tonerarm gimbals..)
+eur990 Right. Some guys says that you can adjust it to be almost finger-tight, as far as dj use is concerned should be way to go. But that factory specs were really drooling, as i use it for LP playback couln't miss it.
Hi, I've got a slight problem with the tone arm on one of Technics 1210 mk2 turntables, the signal is fine when playing a record, but there's a loud crackle when the tonearm is lifted or lowered from the rest to the record and vice versa. I have dismantled to the point where i have loosened the pcb so that i can see all the small wires. Everything seems to be in-tact. I'm thinking the problem must be inside the tonearm itself or somewhere inside the mechanism. The problem is not in the headshell as it works fine on my other turntable. If you can help me at all I would really appreciate it!
It seems to me, that even you replaced the tonearm, you new tonearm still was not working properly with anti-skating, yes it was coming back to armrest, but if I saw it right on your video, when on zero or 1, the tonearm was not still in one place, it was still trying to go back to armrest
Yes because my table is not perfectly flat. You know when speaking about balance just a fraction of micrometer makes a difference. In theory if my bench was perfectly flat it should stay in place. But that's not the point, you can see the difference from the stiffness of the previous one and the free float swing of the new one.
Good point, i guess you need a completely flat surface to test anti skating, as someone who now has his 3rd pair of MK2's i can say that circa 50% of the turntables out there have an issue with the anti skating. Anyway, thanks for the video.
@djpunisha29 I'm having anti skate issues on my table. If I op2n it up like in this video. And recalibrate the anti skate, you think it might help. Or is it a get a new tone arm problem. Hope you see this!!
i already saw the other guys video and thought i dont need another 24 minutes the same. but the music is awesome so i watched it all anyway. what is it? sounds like a super discount comp or something

Say if I get a dual turntable can I put another higher quality tonearm on it
It seems a rarely used turntable, appears like new, can i ask how tonearm has been damaged? An hit on gimbals? moving on travel without protection?
