Exhausting All The Options To Get Maximum Power From A Pontiac Firebird - Horsepower S1, E9

  • After exhaustive research we've found more power in Project Budget Bird. But how much? We cut on the exhaust to solve some problems and bolt on new headers and a high-flow exhaust system. Then, it's back to the dyno for another run. We use a flow bench to see which cylinder head machining gives you the most for your money. Then, it''s off to Florida for a drag race.

    Sure brings back some memories of the 80's.

    I love watching Al these old videos and it looks seem less when they install stuff but when I do it I get cut and curse and bump my head on brackets. I know I’m not the only one but I don’t smile like this when working in the car that’s for sure.

    I remember Norwalk doing Night Under Fire. It was really cool seeing jet cars and NHRA fuel cars in the dark of night going down the track.

      These videos and car magazines are basically infomercials for car parts... but they can give useful info... even though this one was a failure... 183 HP at the end? ... C'mon! ... That's about only 219 HP at the flywheel...

      @BuzzLOLOL yeah but considering that it only had 140ish stock that's quite a decent gain. Those TBIs weren't known for a lot of horsepower lol

    This brings back horrible memories of installing headers on my 96 LT1 T/A. What a nightmare.

    Bout to bolt on those trick headers. We have the lift and tools that the normal poor SOB will never have in their garage. If you try to attempt this project, just remember to have black and white checkered floor in your garage or that exhaust won't fit. Cue fake ZZ Top music and 50s saxophone hop music. 🎶

    If it gets too much horsepower you might want to put a leash on that bird

    Those 80s Firebirds look pretty ugly to be honest (especially compared to the 2nd gen Firebirds and Trans-AMs).

      I don't know. Those mid 70a second gen Camaro and Firebirds weren't that great looking. The 3rd gens were pretty good looking.

    • @CJColvin
      @CJColvin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bmstylee They had the stupid catfish look and not to mention the plastic cladding as well. Heck even the first gens look a million times better than the 3rd and 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds.

      1970's cars got fat, ugly, heavy, and weak gas hogs...
      For 1987 we have:
