Tango is the most underrated Hermit for his humor. I mainly watched his Satisfactory vods to learn tricks I haven't picked up yet, but he always has me rolling laughing.
Loving the playthrough! As far as "clean" looking ways to transport that iron ore up to the plateau, one neat trick I've learned is conveyor lifts CAN go up infinitely high, even though it stops you at 40 meters normally. If you connect a conveyor floor hole to another conveyor floor hole with a lift, it ignores all distance restrictions. So you place one foundation at the bottom, and another one at the top (make a tower of foundations, so they're lined up, then delete the ones in between), put a conveyor floor hole in the center of the top and bottom foundations, and connect them with a conveyor lift. Having a column of lifts makes it easy to decorate it and make it look nice.
Another tip: when you go AFK, plop down an equipment workshop and hand-craft portable miners. When you get back, put them in the dimensional depot. That way you'll generally always have them available when building miners, and later, drones! Or, grab the alternate recipe for "Automated Miner" and set up a machine. Just a small QOL improvement!
Hey there, glad I found your channel. Loving the playthrough! I hate to do it but thought I might offer up a couple small backseaty type points. Nothing crazy: 1. Have you heard about the new 'stealth' mechanic they added in to 1.0? Check in with your Twitch chat on that one if you like! 2. To my way of thinking there is zero downside to re-rolling Hard Drives. If you reroll and get something you want, Win! You just saved yourself potentially much time and hassle discovering that recipe for zero effort. Or: You reroll and get 2 more recipes you don't want. In which case you are at the same point as before: You close the MAM leaving the hard drive in there forever, secure in the knowledge that 2 recipes you don't want (yet) will never come up again. Does it matter particularly which 2 undesirable recipes are left in the MAM? To my thinking not really...you are just getting '2 chances to find a useful recipe' for the price of 1. Anyway that's my 'logic' on the matter, such as it is lol. 3. I think you look just fine with the glasses! Of course I just discovered your channel, so you have 'always' had glasses and that's just how you normally look.. Just trying to cheer you up there (lifelong glasses wearer myself). Enjoy 1.0 and all the new awesomeness from the PC Game of the Year! (weird that FPS issue at the beginning, I've never actually had or seen that happen).
Currently playing along with you. Setting up in the same spot etc. I am ahead of you with production etc but that’s all temporary so far. Thanks for the detailed playthroughs
(1:59:47) _"4 [4m foundations] is enough for pretty much anything in the game"_ - how cute hehe. Manufacturers are actually quite small compared to lategame buildings (like the Particle Accelerator or Quantum Encoder...)
Hey Tango, nice seeing you playing Satisfactory on Stream and Uploading the VoDs to YT! You know that you can also drop items on the ground instead of just deleting them? Also, you can align MK Miner (almost) to the world grid? just place some foundation on the ore nodes.
Just an FYI on the lifts. You can connect them directly to machines, and you can connect splitters and mergers directly to the top of the lifts. They are quite minimal in terms of footprint.
Ziplines hints, you can slide through poles, no need to jump to next, and you can go upwards also, if you have a zipline to higher grounds, as long as its not clipping through ground. (Zipine through poles was a lie, it only works when you get power towers, been a while since I only used poles) xD
Satisfactory hype! I really need to find the time to fire up the old desktop and play this one for myself. I've let my Steam library gather dust for too long! 😅
Here's a tip maybe you haven't heard before: when you have the zipline equipped, instead of holding left click, you can single right click, which activates the zipline and keeps it active until you right click again. Or maybe you're doing that and I'm just seeing it wrong.
I was interested in how to optimize the non-rendered part of this game from a dev perspective. Firstly, everything can be reduced to a rate and type index, i.e. two integers per edge in the graphs of factories. I'm guessing the endgame conservatively ends up with something like a few million edges in all the graphs (roughly 400 nodes, and probably less than 10,000 connected things per each node), but since the rates and types rarely change, they can be summarized and cached. I'd shoot for being able to handle hundreds of millions comfortably though. Additionally, this game decided to make every conveyed entity tracked too. I don't see a simple way to optimize it, so I'd have to experiment, but one way could be to store items as strings of rates. E.g. imagine the belt has nothing, followed by a few items at normal rate, then another hole (maybe some grabbed by player), and then the normal rate again. Could be stored as 0, normal, 0, normal and then a length of each. The rates should be stored in conveyor units (e.g. one 'tick' is moving two consecutive items so that the behind one is now where the front one was), so it can be kept as integers, for precision preservation. Then it'd just have to calculate when the next time was that the income rate would change, and then calculate the change then. The vast majority of them would never update, and almost only due to direct player actions (or depletion of finite resources). It could be very compressed due to the rate caching and infrequent changes on a computer timescale. With all that, I definitely see how you could make a big world run in the background with relative ease. In fact, it would be a fun project for me to do.
2:50:00 ish, I did the same with a large reinforced plate and modular frame factory. I only noticed when I started adding blue print highways… Re: World Grid
4:00 when you crouching and came close to the Hatcher it dont feel you and dont launch those killing flies and you blast it with that electro stick :-D
sorry tango... you have not been building on the world grid at all... I was debating commenting that you do not believe in world grid, and how much easier it would make your trains while you where talking about station height.
Question for the viewers browsing the comments section - does anyone NOT tick the _"Take from inventory before Depot"_ checkbox? (1:49:01) I honestly can't think of a good reason why it's not enabled by default.
You keep saying that the whole world is loaded, and thats only partially true, theres a calculation distance at which they estimate the outcomes of things rather than calculate them directly. this can cause major lag in the long run if you make a mistake like me and try to put too many big towers right next to each other. it ended my save because everytime i went near it i dropped to 10fps and i was 4 towers deep before i realized that was the issue.

Love your satisfactory playthrough and your glasses, they make you look dashing!
TRUTH
I've always wanted to play multiplayer just to make a zipline race course. Disconnecting and reconnecting the zipline is an art.
Loving the playthrough!

As a new parent i find it highly inspiring to see you play 7 hours of good gaming
It doubles as working though

Thats a quote: "we are just going to jump of this cliff now and call it a day" 1:09:27
Are you kidding me? I was reading your comment at the exact time Tango said that. That is a coincidence and a half. 😅
What a stunning image Mr Tango has with these new glasses

Another 3 hours of Tango , and saying "how are frames?" 100x :)

Heads up Tango, if you see a green spider...just run.
You say that your skills of observation are unparalleled. But are they unseriesed as well?
Ba dum tss
i just cant.... looking at tango wearing glasses just remind me one of my professor back in uni... LMAO
That is glassist.

Yay... Sat 11/23 Part 2! The suspense was killing me
Hey Tango I think you are going into recording mode because you are holding control for world grid and then going into Zoom and hitting ctrl R.
Hey Tango, the project assembly swatch affects the space station and the spoiler bit too.
3:11:27 I feel personally attacked - just like all the THATCH ROOFED COTTAGES!!
If there is no juction you don't have to release zipline right?
I only use it on a large tower and walls so I'm not sure about the small one.
Ah, the phantom of the keybind episode.

I love the Tragdor reference and yes, I’m old. 😂

Improved powers of observation!
Wow, that cave has a serious resource leak 😅
Did he just say he doesn't want to redo everything? He does realize he's playing satisfactory, right?
Man idk how many times I was checking my internet dam you ctrl r lol making me think it’s my end when he’s not saying anything for a bit

3:27:00 I can think of 10 pretty ways to get that iron up there!

3:17:55 This 😂 equally funny cause you don't expect it 😂 ubublbl 🤣
Tango, I am old. I knew what that meant, and furthermore, fhqwhgads!
Every time I see the nuts I think of that vine of the little girl asking her mom for her nuts XD MY NUTS!
