Wow thats insane. 5:00 playback speed .5 on 1080p you can see moments when only the inner surround is flexing. Moments when only the middle surround is flexing. And moments where on the outer are flexing. Then other times you see them all move together in unison or together but opposite. Sometines you see it do the wave, starting with the outside flexing then the middle and then the inner. This is such a cool setup
It looks like it has different vibrational modes. I wonder what the phase is like because I'm interested in whether this is expanding the range of amplification by widening the number of tuning frequencies, or is there phase cancellation going on? I can't tell because my subwoofers are limited to about 35 Hz. I must plug in my in ear headphones.
Nice setup. But doesn't that kill efficiency? And I didn't know it was safe to mix batteries like that. Doesn't the draw from the caps draw too many amps from the lead acid batteries
Im just wondering, because I curious.....Did you get the tsp's of all four of those woofers, & did the math to figure out how to tune your passive radiator? or just made it and slapped it in there? & for the weight is your weight the unicorn? Did you use a scale? Is there like clay or something in the unicorn to add your mass....Passive radiators explained here, & can also find in the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook......th-cam.com/video/YlWZ3UIYOMw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, I did the math and yes I have a scale. There are weights added on at the other side of radiator and unicorn is also calculated in. It is turned to 22hz using Earthquake Sound calculator for SLAPS.
@@alex.G.R.Z I had wondered, It is one of the coolest, probably the coolest passive radiator setup Ive ever seen...Good Job! Also the passive radiator, did it come like that with multiple surrounds? Or did you make it? & whats the big surround? 22in?
@@ballistic_mod Thank you, This is a original Earthquake Sound SLAPS-18. It is rare and made to order. See my other movie with it after doing some adjustments 🦄😀
Thanks for your comment. This is more SQL then SPL system. It is tunned very low and plays down to 10hz. It does BOOM as well - I may do separate movie to show that.
Most of the time when you see hair tricks at shows everything is closed except for an open window in which a girl's head is usually sticking through that way all the sound pressure is going in and out of a smaller area. As you can see all of his doors and windows are open including his hatchback so the air has plenty of places to escape and a whole lot of it may not be rushing by her hair at the moment. With those subs and that passive I guarantee you if he shuts that hatch, shuts those doors and has her stick her head in the window her hair will look like Beetlejuice.
@@alex.G.R.Z I was going to ask what it is tuned to. Got my answer. Looks awesome and I'll bet it has some serious SPL at 15-30hz compared to anything else out there. I personally find big systems tuned high to be just annoying. Like.. I don't want to hear 50Hz at 138db for efs sake! I want the lowest note on a track to have the most power instead. There's just something magical about stuff below 25Hz and I'll bet that crazy 18" radiator doesn't even break a sweat. That Jericho Joe guy is not right for saying it only has the surface area of an 8" driver. He even said 4" at first before correcting himself. lol this isn't your typical passive and while it may not have the full cone area of an 18" driver contributing to the displacement it is completely invalid to say that only the middle 8" cone contributes to the displacement. Plus is has that insane throw of 11+ inches which is more than enough to compensate. This thing will move way more air than any typical 18" driver. Thanks for sharing!
Great video. Unique setup and well executed. Thanks for sharing!
Nice to see clean install instead od 2-18s in a plywood peach crate with screws falling out👍
It looks just like the Philips wOOx Bass radiator from my childhood

Some hair tricks are made because of the ports being angled towards the dash. This system has no ports.
