Bomb Disposal Police detonate pipe bomb found at Tom Ugly's Bridge

- Specialist police arrived at a secret location this afternoon to detonate two devices that were found under Tom Ugly's Bridge yesterday at around 12.30pm.
The·large contingent of specialist emergency services was called to undertake a detonation operation near the headlands of Malabar.
Police Detectives, supported by the NSW Rescue & Bomb Disposal Squad, Forensic Services, NSW Fire & Rescue Hazmat and Special Operations Ambulance all worked together to render two devices safe.
The first device detonated was a pipe bomb, and the second was a gas cylinder.
Both devices were safely removed from the "NABCO" chamber by a police officer·wearing a "Bomb Suit". The first "pipe bomb" device was laid in place and a charge was used to blow off the end cap. The second charge was·seen to have a larger explosion to destroy·a gas cylinder.
Fire hazmat crews monitored the air and placed devices to detect threats such as radiation.
Both devices were found to be benign and are now being examined by forensic services.
By god I've seen cap guns with a bigger explosion

the reason there is such a high turn out of emergency personal is the fact that there is a pipe bomb there could be more explosives on site. And a pipe bomb can disperse enough radioactive material to cause health problems. I have knowledge of this from working with fire services and haz chem.

How did you come up with "a pipe bomb can disperse enough radioactive material to cause health problems", when it is most certainly NOT going to contain anything that can be considered "Radioactive". From what I can imagine, someone made the pipe bomb in their house and probably used gun powder as the explosive component.
Not likely that any Aussie is going to be making nuclear explosives and house it all in a small piece of pipe bought from a hardware store. It's not really that much of a concern, though it pays to be safe, as stated in the description. My point still being that an everyday Aussie ain't going to be building nuclear explosives with anything you can buy from a store.
@@TheHungrySlug true but any bomb creates radio active material depending what exploded if the bomb explodes near paper the ashes could have a active radioactive substances in it but can cause harm like blisters usually worse any bomb can create radioactive substances DEPENDING we're it blown up and the aftermath that occurred

explosion was from a explosion from waterjet distruptor, its basically a shotgun that shoots water instead of lead pellets, and the pipebomb did not explode because they are made with gunpowder and gunpowder is a low explosive and does not react to hitting it or other explosions
