    Thank you so much for this review. I sold my Garmin 6x and brought a Coros Vertix 2s right away. Loving the app experience after finishing my exercise, more accurate and faster GPS lock-on, battery life is exceptional and all of the watch faces are all free! I can still remember on Garmin Connect, some watch faces were locked behind a paywall. I don't miss Garmin pay and Spotify feature on my Garmin. Plus Coros is just released their Dura bike computer, that's gonna be awesome to have for cycling.

    Bro, can't wait for full test!)) I hope that Coros will upgrade in future their cartography like Garmin. Yesterday i found Decathlon GPS 900 for 200 Dollars, What do you think about this watches?)

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The decathlon watches look great! To my understanding though, those watches are made by Coros (pretty much their old hardware) and then sold through decathlon rebranded. Might be worth 👀 by on EBay for a second hand watch I got both the vertix 2 & the Apex 2 pro for less than £300 🔥

    Awesome review as always, I love your enthusiasm!! I know that you said that you’re doing a video comparing coros vertix 2s and the Suunto vertical. From what you’ve told me on another video I’ve decided to go with one of these two watches. Since the Coros is the same price as vertical solar steel, which would you prefer? P.s, I’ll still watch your comparison video!😊

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be completely honest! While both are great watches I do prefer the Suunto Vertical. Main reason being it has better battery life, solar charging, a temperature sensor, it has music playback controls, it has a flashlight and it’s less laggy when using the touch screen, especially during maps. It’s also less heavy and more comfortable to wear.
      Coros is cool if you like a scroll wheel, a beefier watch, you get two straps in the box (nylon/silicone), many will prefer the app and training plans/workouts available. I’ve also massively enjoyed using Coros’ daily health check with the ECG.
      But yeah, my heart & mind says vertical ❤️

      @@ActiveIdeas thanks, again! I forgot to ask, which one do you like as far as the use of the maps and navigation? I’m not a big runner but I like to go on hikes and go to the gym to lift and some cardio.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @anthonyrampino7734 for following the GPX I used the vertical, especially on the tough dangerous scrambles. The compass orientation is still the best of all watches out there… for clocking down the miles I used the Vertix 2S it automatically added all the aid stations and turn by turn navigation without any extra work on the app. When the course was selected it would tell me the exact distance to the next checkpoint .. this was a massive psychological advantage for me in UTMB snowdonia I hope Suunto adds this stuff ✨

    Really enjoyable to see someone (especially a small channel) with the balls to point out the myriad of flaws with Garmin devices. Absolutely there's some confirmation bias by me, as I experienced exactly the kind of abhorrent precision as what you describe here, and found coros to be far more precise. On a good day, I gather, a garmin can be more accurate, but when the precision is that far off, what's the point?
    I would rather a device that's good enough every single time, than one that's perfect once and unusable the next.
    Especially intrigued that you found the maps better, as that's normally the sticking point that's hard to argue against the Garmin.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment mate ❤️ Yeah, 99% of people might never notice flaws with Garmin, it seems even a lot of reviewers. But if you genuinely are the target audience here and run long ultra marathons, for me, Garmin has always been quickly exposed! With the unreliability of the gps chipset I wouldn’t personally rely on a Garmin in harsh tough GPS conditions .. and street names on maps are cool but it’s no good if you’re missing 30% of roads, trails and Topography 💫
      Anyways, full review of the Vertix 2S coming soooooon 🔥

      @@ActiveIdeas I wonder if they are better in the US where Garmin are definitely not based anymore, since they definitely moved everything to Switzerland for legitimate business reasons that have nothing to do with Taxation, which is just a convenient side benefit.
      That said, DCR is based in Europe and doesn't generally claim inaccuracies from Garmin - but my trust in him has admittedly dropped since he threw a frothy after Coros didn't send him a free pace 3.
      Way to back your independence, as disclaimed in every video, when not receiving a free pace 3 (let alone boldly assuming a criticism about another reviewer not using a product correctly and therefore receiving sub optimal results, must definitely have been about you Ray....) there DCR.
      Generally he is still considered the gold standard reviewer I guess, and he always claims good accuracy from Garmin. But like you, my mileage varies.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment man! Yeah, who knows about the whole US/Europe thing.. I can imagine it makes no difference but maybe there’s something in it (satellite exposure or something).
      I’ve got so much love for Ray (& Garmin tbf)! In terms of TH-cam sports tech, he is the OG tbf🔥 And trying to do this review thing myself, I can only express how bloody exhausting it really is. Fair play to anyone doing this TH-cam thing, it’s hard to navigate this world. For example, I’m pretty sure I’m blacklisted by Garmin (which is ironic because they are my first love) 🤣 There are smaller channels (views & subs) than me who have received review samples direct from Garmin and I’m still very much on the path of buying my own devices, despite having reached out & either getting ignored or politely let down. So although potentially shooting myself in the foot in the name of an honest video… I’ve found that a lot of the things I’ve called out about Garmin in last years reviews (from a genuine place of love, genuinely no other reviewer mentioned these bugs/flaws) have actually been addressed.. which is only good for the product and ultimately the consumer ❤️

      Yeah, my Garmin 6X was consistently giving me short km during my running and cycling. Recently after my 100km ultra-marathon, the watch only recorded 94km, and the battery drain was quick on my two-year-old watch.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You’re not the only one 🙈 Although, i must admit, Garmin 6X Pro Solar Titanium was one of my favourite ever watches, was so ahead of its time back in the day.. maybe not so great in 2024 though 🤭

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, to this day the Suunto Race is undeniably one of the best deals on the market 🔥 I also got the older Vertix 2 off eBay for less than £300 (over half price) which seems crazy now considering it has more battery life than the new model

      @@ActiveIdeas I've a vertix 1 and it's so good, really solid build quality. I can absolutely see why you'd have a vertix 2 for the spine.

      Got to compare the suunto ti version due to the build. That brings the price difference down a bit. But yes, it's still cheaper and a really good watch.
      I guess the amoled and the effectively unusable ppg on the suunto would be arguments against.
      Either way, I hope the suunto is successful and brings all the prices down - although it sucks that it is made in China now Finland, but that's true for pretty much all competitors anyway....

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scriptosaurusrex thanks for the comment mate! Yeah it’s great to see that Suunto are still in the mix, it’s great for market competition and only means better/more-affordable products for us athletes 🔥
      Tbf, all of the Suunto Verticals are still made in Finland 🇫🇮 🔥 For anyone who cares about the environment, they also boast a carbon neutral production line & throughout the life-cycle of the watch which is super cool 💫
