Let's be honest, it's Chaos/Erebus fault. Big E probably saw M doing the psychic and was like "he's making himself stronger, better for the throne later, so long as he doesn't do anything flashy I'll pretend not to notice" Nikea was pretty much "hey you guys don't know what you're doing, but I can't tell you coz daemons feast on worship". Chaos caused blind spots in E's foresight, which meant that WHEN... ->Erebus twisted Lorgar to chaos -> Lorgar got Horus in the snake lodge to be corrupted -> M tried to stop this but ended up proving H/L right -> so THEN M broke E's wards AND did it in a way that breaks the whole "don't ask don't tell"

The Invaders space marine chapter took a swing at a craftworld that had already been mauled badly enough that they managed to kill their way to their main habitation dome. They needed the Legion of the Damned to not just get merced at this point, and then the Eldar summoned their Avatar of Khaine... Long story short, the fighting depressurized the whole thing and the Eldar had to evacuate. Then another craftworld decided to pay the homeworld of the Invaders a visit, they are a fleet based chapter now...
I think the Guildiland X Yvraine (I cant spell) connection would be the greatest/funniest thing to make cannon, as it would be completely unexpected and every race in 40K would be flabbergasted.
"Two hundred proper nouns" is a REALLY good way to put it. Gonna have to borrow that. Thanks! Also, for some really good examples of how to write Eldar well, I'll highly recommend what's known as "The Path of" trilogy of books by Gav Thorpe (Path of the Warrior, Path of the Seer, Path of the Outcast). EDIT: I can think of one character in 40k who could maybe, maaaaaaaaaaybe pull off Plan A vs Slaanesh, and the thought is amusing as heck. Kaldor Draigo. He's perfectly positioned to pull off that sort of chicanery.
As an eldar lover i can say the path series is amazing for woeld building but will make you hate all individual eldar with a passion.... read the drukhari novels. Amazing in comparison . .
"They were painting the town peppermint" these interpretations are what bring that horrifying freshness to 40k I come here for. I'm disgusted and never change😂😂
Having an already vast knowledge of 40K lore, I can still sit and listen to these two for an hour EASY! Isyander's knowledge and energy and Koda's realistic and simultaneously comical reactions to the lore are priceless. And you are right, Eldrad is often dense, before I knew the lore, I was like "The Emperor's Children" are definitely gonna go to Chaos, "perfection obsessionists" are a RED FLAG in real life!
As much as the Imperium (and many other Xenos species) would like to have Commorragh destroyed and all the Drukhari exterminated, many in the Inquisition know that to give Slaanesh so many souls would only make it exponentially more powerful.
aren't the dark eldar actively being eaten the entire time though and they are just topping themselves up? and if they have been doing that for 10k years I think a solid argument can be made that wiping them out is a worthwhile trade
@@Tommonius sure, in a thousand years Slannesh would be weaker for the lack of eldar feeding them, but for the next 100 or 200 years, Slannesh would just have a massive influx of power that would let them chuck a load of demons directly at terra, or wherever they want, and the imperium can't really deal with that, esspecially if Slannesh isn't distracted dealing with the dark eldar themselves. So no genocide, unfortunate.
The thing with them is that they're using excess to keep Slaanesh at bay, the difference they have with the Aeldari is that when they die, they don't have a soulstone to return to and directly go to Slaanesh, while the Aeldari have the soulstones as a safety precaution @@Tommonius
aren't they actively feeding Slaanesh being the capital of all excess. I feel like Drukari dying true deaths would temporarily feed Slaanesh compared to all their torture.

Thank you for the Eldar episode, they're my favourite faction but as you pointed out it's so rare to see any good lore or narrative beats coming from them. I'd even just want them to solidify their alliance with the Imperium just for the chance to remain relevant at this point -.-
Hey, the Space Elves finally get a video. Best not do too many, though. Slaanesh likes it when Aeldari are overdone. Anyways, still hoping the Raven Guard are put in rotation, but keep up the good work!
First of all, as an Aeldari player, thank you for bringing up the eldars. Yes, thes are sadly sidelined, and you guys brought up the main reasons. My problem really is that there is so few books about the eldars, and the best ones, f.e. the Ynnari books are deadlined, canceled. They go nowhere. But THEY ARE SO AWESOME!!! Yvraine needs more backstory, more characterisation - right now (however I like this woman) she is kinda a Mary Sue, who survives everything. Sure, she makes bad decisions, but usually others suffer for it. The Visarch is an absolute badass - he was an EXARCH, AND HE BREAK AWAY FROM IT!!!! Also, there is Meliniel Pureheart - check on that, what HE CAN DO...! (spoiler - he should be around primarch level) Another problem is, what you talked about too - while you can relate to the humans, and with Trazyn in the IaD book, you can't to the eldars - but I think, this is a good thing. I really loved the Infinite and Divine book - it's an awesome book, funny, good story. But it was too funny. Trazyn was too human for me. It dropped me out of immersion, that I could relate to him that much. And this is why I love the eldar books, especially the writings of Gav Thorpe. A lot of people don't like those novel, and they say, Gav is a bad writer. But he is a genius - he could write about eldar mindset, in eldar mindset. It's hard to read, because it's hard for us humans to understand the eldar emotions and thinkings. I'm hungarian, english is my second language, and even I enjoyed Gav's book, because I could set them in their contexts. And it gave me so much about the eldars. They are my favourites. And thank you again, guys, for this Christmas gift! God bless you, merry Christmas!
In Fabius Bile: Primogenitor an entire chaos war fleet attacked a single craftworld and while they did break in and cause a ton of damage, they were very quickly routed and forced out. It was like knocking a guy's teeth out with one punch and then he proceeds to rip you to shreds. And they only really got that far because Fabius is a named character with a menagerie of other named characters.
Something I'd read about the Eldar Pantheon; the canonicity of which is up in the air like so much of 40K lore; was that the Eldar knowingly created them because they ended up with a great deal of understanding about the warp and how it functioned after the War in Heaven. And why they made their gods? To help enhance their own empire and psyker abilities, as well as actively weaken the existing chaos gods. Khaine siphons off power from Khorne Isha counteracts Nurgle and Tzeentch (healing & treating diseases, which incidentally is a form of stability as much as it is a form of change.) Cegorach also weakens Nurgle and Tzeentch. They weaken the other gods because the Eldar are actively pouring their collective, potent beliefs, emotions, etc. into activities that they are specifically attributing as fuel to these gods. So while the Chaos gods might derive some power from it, the Eldar pantheon is still getting more out of it. So the Chaos gods get weaker and end up being locked away behind wards that the deities & Eldar collectively maintain. Slaanesh being born broke all of that. With the pantheon gone, the core of the eldar empire and so much of its populace just gone and the Galaxy just thrown into complete anarchy, replete with war, savagery, change, stagnation, disease, famine, etc. But like I said: I don't remember the source, its probably just a theory based off of what had happened. Hell, it might even be just some Aeldari talking points meant to hype up how awesome they used to be.
In the words of Isyander himself, "Everything is true, nothing is canon." So Yvrainne and Rambling Gigantmax is therefore as real as the ad mec having Tesla's skull.
You guys have almost single-handedly gotten me interested in Warhammer. The Craftworld Eldar are my favorite faction and I just started building my first army. Not Eldar, since I couldn't find any locally, but one day!

Keep it up guys, hope you make it to the stars!
I am pretty sure they did blow up one of the Eldar Craftworlds. Unique Tyranid Zoanthrope by the "name" Doom of Malan'tai ate the infinity circuit and wiped it out of existence with the power gained
My understanding is that there was essentially an explosion during Slaanesh's birth that sucked in the eldar in a huge radius including quite a few exodites and craftworld eldar, that only those furthest got away, aswell as those in the webway, namely the now Dark Eldar of Commoragh, who are the only ones that survived being so near the birth, but that also left them with a constant pull on their soul from She Who Thirsts. I thought the Dark Eldar kind of hate having to live like this now, principally because it pleases Slaanesh
I imagine talking to Aeldari as speaking to a poet who only talks in multilayered metaphors and riddles. Also, that trivial for them to read your psychic aura and emotions, and read you like a book being able and play you like a fiddle.

So Eldrad is basically the Eldar's Kirito where we're always told how strong and smart and capable he is, and when Reki Kawahara is writing him he's able to take down entire armies of players by himself and can hack systems he's not even familiar with in .2 seconds on a whim,... But when the plot calls for it he does dumb stuff like gets an entire guild of players killed because he's being stupid or despite supposedly being trained in Kendo and able to outpace adults as a teenager, he gets milly-rocked in a hospital parking lot by an out of shape middle-aged dude armed with a syinge. But Eldrad/Kirito is teh best evar though, if you talk to any Eldar player/SAO fan.
when you write "space dwarfs" into edge first image ist votans when you write "space elf" into edge, nineth image is aeldari miniature and we need ciaphus cain episode
The funny thing about Dark Eldar, is that since their whole society is based in sadism and inflicting pain, I can just imagine a scenario where a guardsman is caught by one who's talking about doing all these horrible things that not even their peers would approve of, and it's like the most taboo, frowned upon actions in Dark Eldar society AND... He just ends up getting cuddled and stuff like that. Maybe with only a *minimal* amount of ropes, because they're still Dark Eldar. Because at this point, normal affection would be weird and almost wrong for them. ...Then he gets turned into a living soup about two days later.
I’m a patron and already voted so I won’t double dip, but here are a few more videos I would like to see that maybe you can add to your backlog: - The Custodes - The Horus Heresy, pt. 1 - specific Demons of the four Chaos Gods, like anything we know about Khorne’s demons for example Also, maybe a format you could do would be to discuss the Heresy or other events in a book by book format rather than faction by faction? So like Horus Heresy pt 1 would be Horus Rising and so on That way you have a somewhat lower effort way to cover the big events of 40K in depth but also to spread it out over many videos Long term engagement and consistent video subject that you could do maybe a couple times a month, and no one feels like you had to ignore their favorite part of the Heresy!
47:00 I could've sworn that y'all were describing an actual trial of Slaanesh. It was a legitimately nice place, with good food, that was an oasis in the middle of their labyrinth. It worked by giving actual relief in the middle of the terror dungeon, and then the magic locks you temporally(?) so you think you are taking a five minute break, but actually stay there until you die.
Eldrad is so big, he was killed off in a campaign, was noted to still be alive somehow (I mean, would YOU trust a prophetess called Qassandra?) and then retconned it back. But yeah, Eldar have not had a book along the level of Infinite and Divine or even Deff Skwadron to give really boost their status in the community. Even some of their own books sometimes feel like they are shilling for the Marines.
As a lover of the Craftworlds and Eldar, thank you for doing such a great summary of their overall wonderful wierdness. And yeah, I REALLY get the feeling the Ynnari were gonna be their own true faction with a full range of models, and lore, and story. Then Rowboat Girlyman came along. Though the fact the Ynnari are just the Harlequins Mk 2 is the PEAK of lazy writing and having no ideas at the writing table

Let's be honest, it's Chaos/Erebus fault.
Big E probably saw M doing the psychic and was like "he's making himself stronger, better for the throne later, so long as he doesn't do anything flashy I'll pretend not to notice"
Nikea was pretty much "hey you guys don't know what you're doing, but I can't tell you coz daemons feast on worship".

Amazing in comparison

Why does the ynnari plan B response sounds like the parental question of "if all your friends jumped off a cliff would you?"?
The Harlequins made me think of that scene from Die Hard where he sends the dead guy back down in the elevator with a message written on him.
Worth it.
aren't the dark eldar actively being eaten the entire time though and they are just topping themselves up? and if they have been doing that for 10k years I think a solid argument can be made that wiping them out is a worthwhile trade

(spoiler - he should be around primarch level)
Another problem is, what you talked about too - while you can relate to the humans, and with Trazyn in the IaD book, you can't to the eldars - but I think, this is a good thing.
The "Thank you for being you" always bring a warm smile to my face. Thank you for being you too brothers
We gotta get a Dark Eldar ep my guys 🖤
Use as many innuendos as you need to get it past the censors.
Khaine siphons off power from Khorne
Isha counteracts Nurgle and Tzeentch (healing & treating diseases, which incidentally is a form of stability as much as it is a form of change.)
Cegorach also weakens Nurgle and Tzeentch.
You are so easy to listen if you know the lore or if you are new to it. Thank you! Its just so good to listen to your good vibe lore tales ❤️
In the words of Isyander himself, "Everything is true, nothing is canon." So Yvrainne and Rambling Gigantmax is therefore as real as the ad mec having Tesla's skull.
Isyander's got a great story teller voice.

I vote for the navy, but also week 3 for the custodes

I am once again casting my vote for the dark eldar. Just to see how y'all handle it. Good video guys
I’m a patron and already voted so I won’t double dip, but here are a few more videos I would like to see that maybe you can add to your backlog:
- The Custodes
- The Horus Heresy, pt. 1
- specific Demons of the four Chaos Gods, like anything we know about Khorne’s demons for example
Also, maybe a format you could do would be to discuss the Heresy or other events in a book by book format rather than faction by faction? So like Horus Heresy pt 1 would be Horus Rising and so on
That way you have a somewhat lower effort way to cover the big events of 40K in depth but also to spread it out over many videos
Long term engagement and consistent video subject that you could do maybe a couple times a month, and no one feels like you had to ignore their favorite part of the Heresy!
Even some of their own books sometimes feel like they are shilling for the Marines.
the only channel getting me to seriously consider patreon

As a lover of the Craftworlds and Eldar, thank you for doing such a great summary of their overall wonderful wierdness. And yeah, I REALLY get the feeling the Ynnari were gonna be their own true faction with a full range of models, and lore, and story. Then Rowboat Girlyman came along.
Though the fact the Ynnari are just the Harlequins Mk 2 is the PEAK of lazy writing and having no ideas at the writing table
I assume Cegorach’s Big Joke is somehow getting Slaneesh to get their favorite knife out of their Palace so it revives the Eldar Death God by their own hand.
Maybe tempt Khorne with it and tell him there’s an awesome Death God Sword in Slaneesh’s Palace.
