Charles St. and Beacon Hill were my stomping grounds in college. A very charming and romantic neighborhood. One of my college friends rented an apartment on Beacon Hill and it turned out to be haunted! So, it's got that going for it too.

I’ll stick to my 4 bedroom home in a great neighborhood. With a detached garage and a jacuzzi and 3 full bathrooms.
    My rent is 950.00.
Purchased my home 15 years ago when it was a buyers market. I am 1 1/2 hours away from Boston.
I’ll be here till I die.

You didn’t mention the centipedes in the old buildings with dark basements: 🤢 Also, compared to what I’m familiar with, the rent range mentioned is on the low end. And don’t forget that many apartments are walk ups (no elevator). Still, it’s a great place to live.

My apartment in beacon hill is 2600/mth for a 2 bed room. Really small though. Good place and all. Just tiny.

So if you don’t drive a car, it seems like half of the negatives don’t apply. That’s something to consider 🤔

Yes, my sentiments exactly: no need for a car….saves a ton of grief & money. And if you want to head outside of Boston &/or take a day trip, rent a car for the greatest flexibility. Problem solved.😊

Not that I’m aware of in Beacon Hill, recommend the South End:

Is it here any rent subsides for seniors in Boston?

I’m not familiar with the details, but here is some info on Boston.gov that may be able to help answer that question:
